    I think your concerns with the presentation of this change in medium can be found in almost every industry. The rapid commercialization of every aspect of life contributes to a more shallow mindset across almost everything.

    I am not a fan of MGK at all. I think he's a clown. However I honestly really like this tattoo, especially considering how much better it is than the work underneath it. Seeing as how he's no stranger to tattoos, I respect his decision with this one. Now he just needs to cover those god awful bricks on his stomach.

    I feel ya on the whole this being a movement bit now since it’s becoming mainsteam. Cuz whn I started to do my blackout sleeve 5 yrs ago I did it cuz I hadn’t heard of no one else doin it and I wanted to do something drastic and different. I actually had the idea way back in 2009. I'm not knowledgeable about tattoos but I appreciate that you did this video. You have the experience and knowledge about tattoos including these particular tattoos. @@EphemeralRemy That's great to hear you are doing that 👍. Recently, I have seen videos on TikTok where people are self-tattooing themselves on livestreams literally whole body parts such as their arms and legs including doing lettering. The channels they are on are known to have a huge following of kids and teens. That is so dangerous. A few were tattoo artists but they never should have been doing that. There was no advice given to the audience prior to or afterwards, they just immediately started tattooing themselves. You could see all the younger people in chat say how cool it was and that they wanted to get one. I just knew deep inside some of them were going to try this at home themselves. Others had never even done a tattoo and were self-tattooing their very first ones live too. I was so shocked. I look forward to checking out more of your videos. Thanks for what you are doing in educating people on what is the proper way of doing things and what is not and about all aspects of tattooing ❤️💯.

    When he released his second pop punk album, MGK wrote a song about all the scenesters and gatekeepers complaining about him. One of the lines went, 'Leave the scene you're ruining it!' which will most likely be applicable to the reaction he'll get from the tattoo community. History repeats itself, I guess.

      It doesn’t much bother me what he does with this reaction, my opinions are what they are, I also have been one to break down barriers for people in this industry, this is not gate keeping, so much as it is an awareness of what this moment means. It is a capitalization on the culture, or a selling out of it for a financial incentive more than anything in my eyes.

Look at Remys work, look at the depth it gives to ppl who combine blackwork with other ink, or use blackwork as a basis to build on other tattoos. That's much more creative imho or "Using Imagination" as you say than your typical colored or black and gray tattoo. I think that reality really sucks bc now you have to stare at it the rest of your life, you can’t cover up a black out, you can add to it or tattoo on it like you Remy. It just doesn’t sound like he really intended or wanted to do it, just acted out of emotion, now he has to be reminded of it everyday when he looks in the mirror. I love black outs, I really do, I’m covered in tattoos head to toe, I’m actually a heavily tattooed person but this ain’t it. This shit doesn’t look good at all. I really didn't like that he had gotten a blackout tattoo but you can't gatekeep this stuff and it makes sense considering how heavily tattooed he was for this to be the natural progression for him I mean Kat von D also has a blackout so was it already going to be mainstream 🤷‍♀️

    I'm wondering, I've been following you for a while on IG and stuff and I think you're a pioneer in your own kind for extreme body modifications. You claim that you don't like to be idolized or to get "clout", yet your rhetoric heavily gravitates around recognition as well as acknowledgement about who did what first. And I find this contradictory, in the sense that if you really don't give a shit about clout and recognition, why bother arguing that the artist that did Kat Von D's Blackwork was inspired by your project? I don't say you're wrong, I think you're totally right, but it seems there is an aspect of your point of view I'm not getting and I would be interested to hear your take on that.

      Hoode was definitely not inspired by my project for his work on kat von d, and I never claimed so either. I care about building a platform, but I also don’t care if I offend people in my work to do so, it’s not so complicated, I don’t pretend to do anything to be likable, if people want to watch along that’s fine, but not expected or really the main focus of my work, rather a byproduct. Nothing disgusts me more than hero worship, and I myself am no one to idolize, I’m just a guy who enjoys being tattooed, and experimenting.

      @JuggaloNY 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's a difference between idolization and recognition of those who have come before us. Imo more about respect. Nowadays that's a concept that has slipped the cultures' consciousness. Think about it in very general terms when's the last time that you have heard somebody make a mistake and earnestly apologize for it?
      Even if that step is done is the apology accepted and recognized?
      From what I can tell not often.
      Unless it's like a knee-jerk reaction apology. For example, get bumped into by somebody at the grocery store and get a quick "sorry"

Either way dude might not have the greatest music overall but he stays true to himself despite peoples opinions. Something that’s admirable nowadays. People will continue to diss MGK for a variety of reasons and call him a sell out in a number of aspects. But there is also really no one else who comes to mind who is like him. He can connect across two very different genres. Style is an expression, and his is quite unique. Even though every one loves to hate him, he stays doing his thing. If he was just following the masses, would that be the case? He is in show business which means yes, he is purposeful in creating attention for himself, thats his actual job. But he still does it in his own way.

I didn’t even want to talk about this guy, but BECAUSE of his “place in culture” I was sent this picture hundreds of times asking for a reaction video to it.
