    Just wanted to say thanks for the videos. I got a lot out of the V8 swap videos. Just got my 5.2 44re going from a 2.5 ax5 in my 98 wrangler. I know the intended crossmember was for the swap at first but it still help my plans for the heavier V8 auto even though you used it on the budget crawler. You videos are appreciated. Thanks!

      Thanks man. I installed a Teraflex belly up skid on the V8 jeep, and with a 1.25” body lift and the 44re/Nv241 transfer case I wouldn’t have been able to get away with a flat skid without taking a sledge hammer to the bottom of the tub. There was just enough clearance between the the drivetrain and the tub with the teraflex skid that I didn’t have to make any modifications. If you’re using a 231 transfer case you may have better luck with a flat skid.

    I like the way you do your mods. I would like to see you get out wheeling.

      Thanks! Its only been out on some mild local trails so far. Wheeling vids will come eventually. Not sure how good the wheeling vids will be though since I'm a one man show.

    Now everytime I walk into my garage I peek at my stock skid and cringe.

      Every time I look at my flat skid I think about how much time went into making it happen that I'll never get back LOL. Savvy aluminum under armor would have been a much easier option (except they don't make a 4 cyl version).

    I have the Barnes 2" drop on my CJ . And I clocked the Dana 300. Great product.

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool! Honestly felt like I paid a little too much for a flat piece of steel. Price would have seemed a little more justified for the 2" drop version since it has a few more bends.

      @@dironaa I also built a custom engine skid that connects to it with a pair of clevis pins. It pivots on a piece of DOM tubing . Just pull the pins drop one end and then full access to change oil. Super easy , just some steel and a welder

    What SYE did you use??

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  ปีที่แล้ว

      Teraflex extreme short shaft kit. Don’t know that I’d recommend it if you like having a speedometer though. These use an optical speed sensor that commonly fails in a short period of time. My speedo worked intermittently for a while and eventually stopped working altogether. But if you don’t care about that and want to maximize driveshaft length it’s a great component.

    How does this effect rear drive shaft angle? How did you over come it?

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It increased the rear driveshaft angle to the point where it started to bind, to fix it I installed a double cardan shaft. For more info check out the link in the pinned comment of this video

    guessing you need a body lift to install this, right?

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I have a 1.25" body lift and custom transmission crossmember. You can find videos covering both on my channel.

  • @xjbeater8638
    @xjbeater8638 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is only good for no lift tho right?

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do it with a small lift too, but you might run into issues with the rear driveshaft angle if you have a big lift
