      Unrelated mate but just wanted to let you know I bought a Nexgrill Kettle Cart thing from Costco $299 few months back. Great product hey and the grate is way thicker than Weber. Keep up the good work champ - I watch all your videos.

    I followed this routine and used the plastic putty knife to remove the tougher grease build ups (no metal wool) and it has left a ton of scratches on the inside of the bowl. Will this cause any problems in the future? I wouldn't have thought plastic would be able to cause that kind of damage?

    I always use a half cut onion and rub it after I lit the grill (with a giant fork) to wipe away the residue 👍🏻

    I haven’t cleaned my Weber once in the 6 years I’ve had it. Obviously cleaned off big build ups of gunk and ash, but never back to a ‘close to new’ state. Still doing great cooks on it, in fact have been doing my best cooks ever. How essential is full clean?

    • @Disastrousmedia
      @Disastrousmedia 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found that for a weber kettle, a full degrease and full clean out atleast once a year works. Now thats only recommended if you are doing your daily maintenance. If you find you need or want to do it more than more power to you. Cheers

    Another top job mate....I also have found a tool from Bunnings called a “Kango 20 litre bucket scoop” a very useful item. It is a curved, flexible stainless steel tool used in gyprock ing and is ideal for getting burnt on stuff off the enamel without damaging, far easier than steel wool or a blade. Also works really well on the offset smoker. Cheers

    • @LownSlowBasics

      I wouldn't say after each use. Usually I'll dump leftover coals and light brush, clean grill grate. But something deeper like this more like every 4-5 uses or as I think it needs it. Just depends on what's been cooking.

    I noticed in previous videos you always had fresh briquetes, but wasn't sure if that was because it looked better on camera or whether it made a difference to the cook. But then in this vid you dump out all the partially burned ones. I usually use the rails method for my cooks (my Webber is mid-80s vintage, and that's what they came with back then), and I load a bunch of the partially burned briquettes back in the chimney and use them to start the next cook. Is there a reason you're not using them again, does it affect the flavour?

    You need to use a PUMICE STONE if you are anal retentive about your grill grate. It can clean off the black carbon build up on the cooking grate. I don't bother. I like a hard carbon non stick surface the same as a well seasoned cast iron frying pan. Just let the grate get smokin hot and after a quick wire brushing to knock the chunks off from last time and go to town cooking. No germs can survive that. No one ever got sick from eating from a seasoned pure carbon surface. In fact it is essential to your continued good health. Cheers mate!
