As a former power washing business owner for decades, I loved all your cleaning methods. One note of caution. Open the top before igniting the burners especially after using cleaning solutions inside. You never know if there may be a pocket of propane or cleaning solvent gasses in there. Don't want the lid blowing up into your face. Excellent results for your yearly cleaning!

I just cleaned my 10 year old genesis yesterday. I refurbished the insides 3 years ago and it still looks great. Keeping them under a patio and a cover on them prolongs their life greatly.

I used to have a grill cleaning business so this was satisfying to watch! One tip for harder to clean grates: use a wire wheel (from Harbor Freight) and attach it to a drill and have at it, it won’t damage it at all. These Webers are a little harder to clean because of the material used for the hood and box, but cleaning it regularly and early will make it last a long time.

Great job! I looked after my first Weber Genesis gas grill and it lasted 15 years. I replaced it with a smaller, cheaper, Spirit model and it’s going strong at 5 years. Cleaning your grill not only extends its life, it keeps you safe from the inevitable fire ball that will erupt if you don’t! 🔥

Agree with the ethos that it's wise to look after your things. Saves money, saves wastage, and things perform at their best when they're in good condition. And yes, there's a fine line between taking care of things and getting all OCD on cleanliness (I walk that tightrope regularly).

I agree with your cleaning. I do this after the season every year. OIL/Grease gets rancid after a while. That is why you can't keep oil very long. This year I painted the outside with high performance engine paint. It needed it, it was getting rusted and I bought new grates. Mine is a CharGrill, it is many years old. Needed a reboot, and I put a tarp on it for winter, it sits outside.

Thanks for the presentation, Im about to clean my Weber Genesis II grill the same way you cleaned yours. We had a bunch of steaks and what nots on the grill yesterday, and I encountered a flare up, and after securing all the valves on the grill and tank, the flames were still about 1.5' high. I didn't have a fire extinguisher at the ready, though I did have a box of Armor Hammer baking Soda, and that baking soda knocked that fire down quick. I remembered while serving in the US Navy over 30 years ago that Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) is the chemical thats inside dry chemical fire extinguishers., and knowing that saved the grill, and perhaps our backyard.

I'm also a fan of Griot products, and use Speed Shine to clean up the exterior painted surfaces in-between major details. Glad to see I'm not the only one who uses Griots on his grill and cares how the grill looks. I don't want my guests to look at a dirty grill when I'm making them dinner, haha. On Maui I worked at Honokeana Cove condos in Napili part time, and every morning I'd wash the grills that overlooked Honokeana bay (one of the best views in the world). I'd heat them up to about 600 degrees and then just wash them down with water. The tourist loved the stream explosion!! LOL it kept them clean because it got done every day. You did a great job I might do my BBQ Island I built a few years ago this weekend. Great video and Aloha!!

Awesome video brother, I have a pressue washer and everything you used here. I will be taking this on when I get home from vacation.....
    Amazing results, well done sir....
Most people throw grills in that condition away because they don't take pride in doing anything.
Just waste money and get a new one.

I need to strip mine down, replace the flavorizers, and put in a new igniter. I think you've motivated me to clean and fix my grill up and bring it up to snuff.

Very good video. I would only suggest that you fire up your grill first on highest heat for 30 minutes to burn off 90% of the residue first, and after it cools do what this video shows. I do this with my Genesis several times a year, and it looks like new after five years. I had a regulator hose malfunction last year, and called Weber, and since it has a ten year guarantee they sent out a new one. Weber is a great American company.

you can ring the 4 oz of stainless steel cleaner from the microfiber into a bottle and shine 100 more grills. lol 1 spritz of it will polish all stainless appliances in a house. a little goes a long way. next a grill gets so hot that anything you put on it bakes and evaporates away so that's not necessary.... everything else was perfect. great video

You mentioned replace items is not overly expensive... just a side note guys weber has an amazing warranty for 10 years!!! They replace ANY PART on the grill replaced no questions asked. I got 3 parts mailed to me for free. Great customer service just need theserial number as long as its before the 10years ull have a whole new grill! Hope this helps!

Great video, i keep my weber clean like that too. Ive watched several vids on cleaning, what i havent seen in any of them is, lava rocks, ive used lava rocks ever since i changed to a gas grill, people everywhere say you cant cook on a gas grill and have the flavor and look of a charcoal grill, lol i get it all the time, till they come to my house and taste the food. I get that WTF, and a I never knew that was possible, I usually use the smoke chips, mesqite is my personal favorite but, different woods for different meats. By the way my first gas grill was a cheep charbroil that i had outside un covered for 15 yrs, cooked just as good as this weber i have now same set up

Don't forget to clean and repack the wheel bearings on your grill with fresh grease every 3 months or 300 feet, whichever comes first.
