It's always funny to me how CGB takes it as a personal slight against his honor, Magic itself and common human decency when aggro beats control. Love the videos as always though :)
If you run a hypergeometric calculator, you need 13 1- or 2-drops to consistently (91%+) cast something by turn 2 (not accounting for Bo1 shuffler), whereas this deck was running 11. A deck that has a critical turn of 4 also wants some of those to help find land (draw/loot/scry/siphon insight/etc.). Those were a bigger issue than the land count; 27 lands + Celestus is already quite a lot. TL;DR: think Xerox theory before adding too many lands.
This reminds me of a deck a friend of mine had. We called it “Mother May I”. Counters and removal. The only win con was your lack of patience. We hated him. We loved him. As long as you kept at it eventually he’d have nothing. Eventually. At 23:19 a mono red player was born.
“So whats your wincon exactly” “Oh my wincon is decking you out” “Uhm… do you have anything to mill me then?” “Nope! I just fetch clear the mind from my sideboard at some point and shuffle my graveyard into my library.” “And then you wait.” “And then I wait.” “This is disgusting and I hate you for it”.
I mean you do. Maybe you do it less but you still do. Through the sheer amount of games played on arena it feels like you're getting screwed a lot more often than you are in paper.
If you think you heard a high-pitched sound (maybe a wail) in the distance, that was John Williams hearing CGB trying to sign/hum Vader's theme. I'm still waiting to see if my spinal fluids return to equilibrium.

Back from a years break playing. Got 9 counters in my deck. Took some out last week in favour of some removals. Must have had like 15 before... its fun though to counter everything. Keeping an empty board.
Kabewolf ropping from turn one is exactly the type of player that destroy the experience of mtg arena. And you always get one of those at least once a session for some reason

That first game warmed my soul to the core. Nothing on Arena is more satisfying than watching a UW durdle you-can't-do-nothing deck get run over 1-2-3.
Some people can't read cards. I play Historic ranked with 4x Archon of Absolution plus copy effects in my deck. My opponent wonders why they can't attack with all with no mana available.
Not going to lie, the best game was the one you lost to the Sultai unearth deck. The oppressive "fun police" deck versus de jank. May be you can try the deck the other guy was playing, try to meld titania (I know you don't have a good history with melding if your Misha meld deck is a reference but it would be cool if you got it).
33:50 The greed got ya. I was screaming at my screen for you to Farewell but I guess you didnt hear me... Also, the game against KabeWolf was so ANNOYING to watch.
I don't think people who rope their opponent realize that there's no better feeling in MTGA than making someone so salty that they rope to death. Bonus points if they're playing the most stock standard deck in the format.
Palpatine opitomises MTGA's speedrun to the dark side in the modern meta. Single card board wipes, win con lands with infinite value, counterspells and decks with no creatures. I miss the time you both built up your board and arm wrestled, with creature battles won or lost by +1's from instants.
I think the enchantment player game later on was jest seeing the log in screen from game crashes. That's the only reason the attack rope came out like that. Surely they didn't just go snail when they had freedom to play and sonic during the control section.
The Branduin River flows through the Shire. They cross it at Buckleberry Ferry in the book. In the hobbit tongue, it is counted as the Brandywine river. Also, where the One Ring was found by Smeagol, I believe.
Well... this is the arena... the amount of the lands in the deck doesn't matter at all. You'll have as many lands as the arena allows you to have. The only way to be sure that you won't have mana probles is to not win too much games in a row. Your win ratio needs to be corrected and it seems that the lands are the best way to do it. Nothing can save you from the dreaded win ratio correction. The petty thing is that the amount of the lands in the deck doesn't matter at all... I tried a deck with 30+ lands... still draw only 2 in first 20 cards several games in a row if I go over 65% win rate... I tried low curve mono red with only 14 lands.. still draw 10 of them in first 20 cards when my win rate goes over 65%... there is no escape... And if my win ration goes lower then 45% then I'm strting to play against oponent that have only 2 lands or that are with empty hand and draw only lands... but I don't fill like a winner. It seems that only 2-3 games out of 10 are maybe real, the rest are decided by the win ration algorithm...
