It does actually, like maybe it was a sidescroller game and the character is walking along to the beat of the music as you see the enemies and character you encountered just walking by
The beginning just makes me cry with how beautiful it is. The music box and glockenspiel just make the melody pop out so well. And not to mention, the melodica and typewriter in the middle are awesome together, with the music box in the background as well.
This is the nicest audience ever! I usually hate live versions because the cheering and the screaming usually distracts me and annoys me because it doesn't make me enjoy the music, but here they cheer and make themselves hear just at the end and it is nice.
I figured it's cause they started with just the music wheel. Sets the tone that this is more of a enjoying-music-at-a-pub feel rather than a go-crazy-at-a-club feel.
It is so admirable how nobody in this group tries to steal the spotlight from any of the other group members, but they instead compliment each other with stunning precision and with superb coordination and balance! BRAVO!!
This song is easily one of the most beautiful things mankind has ever created. It is the pure personification of joy and innocence. It is truly magic given life
Looks like she's only pushing two keys for percussive effect. It'd be cool if they hooked up each key to a different note, that way it'd be a real keyboard.
Uh, yes, I know there are normal synths and midi keyboards. I play that myself. But how many bands do you see playing a typewriter that does the same thing?
2020 marble machine from this is astounding in 4 years. I don't think most recent comments realise how much you have concentrated on this pursuit. It has had astounding results . at first it must have seemed futile , now in 2020 the machine is a multinational engineering marvel. Like a ship on the sea of frequencies with Wintergaten as Captain. Aye Aye Captain.
I love these types of arrangements where unconventional instruments are used. it really shows the creativity and how branching out from the norm can make music so much fun
I must tell you that this music in this concert makes me want to live one more day (diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis + acute clinical depression). I can easily cry from excitement and realize that there are happy people who do want to live. Thank you.
my favorite part is how civil the audience is rather than constantly screaming or trying to mosh or stupidly swimming in clouds of smoke. it's almost as if they showed up at the concert to actually hear the music, amazing!
I *LOVE* the diversity of the crowd. ALL ages and types. The expressions between the band members during the performances. The smiles, the glances. These concerts are an EVENT for people to come together and bask in creativity. WIntergatan, your music inspires me to go forth and blossom and grow in new ways in my own craft (I am an electrical Engineer by trade). Your spark and creativity inspires joy in others. DREAM ON Milky Way!
I think one of the things that makes Wintergatan's music so unique is that there is never one "correct" version of a song. They are always approaching their songs at different angles which makes each performance/version special. I'll always enjoy the studio recording of their songs, but watching their music evolve from before and after is always interesting and fun.
Near the apocalypses, almost when I thought there is no possible way to find something original in this world, here it is, Wintergatan, with their Marbel Machine, something unique for escape from our galaxy in decay . I love it! Thanks!
@@SinclairWest Remember back in 2016 when a bunch of celebrities died and an idiot got elected and we thought it was the worst year ever possible? Ah, how naive we were then. 2016 was a paradise compared to 2020 (and to a lesser extent, 2021 so far). I just hope there isn’t someone in 2024 talking about how naive we were in 2020. It would take an asteroid impact or WWIII or a nuclear catastrophe to be worse than 2020 though. I need to stop, I’m just giving the world ideas at this point.
More people need to know about this awesomeness! Like seriously, I don't know why no one has made a radio station for great instrumentals like these. In fact, I think I might just make my own radio station unless someone beats me to it. But if someone does, I'll try to help grow that station.
This is seriously my favorite song....I listen to it alllll the time, it never gets old. This is a masterpiece 💙 I could live my life with this playing on repeat in the background 24/7 lol it's that great
It does me so much good to see all the fans who've come out to see this band. I love how they make a point of demonstrating that you can make beautiful music out of ordinary stuff!
Wow, I was brought back to my younger days...the typewriter sound....remind me in my late teens n early 20s when I type report when I was a police man. The tune...it sound so much to the genre I grew up with .... a western band with with a very "asianish" tune. It almost bring a tear to my eyes... Now I am a musician myself after losing my job, I am amazed by wad I hear. Nice work
Sounds like the outro for some cool indie game.
It does actually, like maybe it was a sidescroller game and the character is walking along to the beat of the music as you see the enemies and character you encountered just walking by
Agree
Plzz tell me which one
agreed! :000
An VR game is now using their music.
The beginning just makes me cry with how beautiful it is.
The music box and glockenspiel just make the melody pop out so well. And not to mention, the melodica and typewriter in the middle are awesome together, with the music box in the background as well.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
I am just listening to this song the 1000st time. Tear drops in my eyes again. Dont know if I could stand a real Wintergatan concert.
Me too. It's beautiful.
This is the nicest audience ever! I usually hate live versions because the cheering and the screaming usually distracts me and annoys me because it doesn't make me enjoy the music, but here they cheer and make themselves hear just at the end and it is nice.
it's because they edited the audio so then they audience isnt heard as much
Ruined.
iacomary I like the low key head bangers lol, secret metal heads.
I figured it's cause they started with just the music wheel. Sets the tone that this is more of a enjoying-music-at-a-pub feel rather than a go-crazy-at-a-club feel.
It was in Germany actually :)
It is so admirable how nobody in this group tries to steal the spotlight from any of the other group members, but they instead compliment each other with stunning precision and with superb coordination and balance! BRAVO!!
didn't expect it to be as good as the studio version.
It almost sounds *better*. Seriously, I don't understand how these wonderful people are constantly improving.
And it isn't.
I have no idea where I can find/hear the studio version,
and at this point I'm too afraid to ask...
(yes I tried to google but couldn't find anything)
Easy listening. Relaxation. Rhythmic relaxation.
+SomeoneYouKnow it's the video titled, "Wintergatan - Marble Machine" on this channel
when she typed “kpjn kpkp jono pnpmo” i really felt that
Oh yea...... at 0:58
Yo 🤣🤣😩😩😭
That typewriter composition is titled “The Back of the Router” in A minor
HAHAHAHA! Best comment!!!
Me too man
Their songs are so bubbly and makes me wanna skip around the fields like a fuckin' elegant bambi. lol
this might be the most accurate description of what I feel when I listen to this track :)
Michael D you too huh? I thought it was just me....
Michael D These guys and gal makes us brake the man code.

It's bone chilling 🥹
This is like the most hipster band on earth and I absolutely love them
PartiZAn18 lol ikr
The only time I've ever appreciated the word "hipster" lol, but yes, so true 😂💙👏👏
Hahahahahaha
emi loo why do people hate hipster so much? Because they look homeless?
1923 Underwoods have a much crisper sound, more natural. Such a shame the band didn't get one of those...
I won't lie, this is the most random set of instruments in a band I've ever seen.
“What do you play?”
“Typewriter.”
“No, what instrument?”
“Yeah, typewriter.”
Looks like she's only pushing two keys for percussive effect. It'd be cool if they hooked up each key to a different note, that way it'd be a real keyboard.
the original percussion was a projector, and that wasnt something they could preform the same way with live, so they improvised.
uh they already invented that....James J James
Uh, yes, I know there are normal synths and midi keyboards. I play that myself. But how many bands do you see playing a typewriter that does the same thing?
lol true
"What do you do?"
"Oh, I'm in a band"
"A band! Thats awesome- what do you play?"
"Um... I play... a typ- of percussion"
“What instruments do you play?”
“Yes.”
Cringe pfp
❤
Wow, I didn't knew Wintergatan has such big audience
Well, their viral video has 25'000'000 views, so their fanbase is probably even bigger...
ot7461
Has nothing to do with views.
People like me just watched it about 50-100 times
Nicolas Roques
Nope. I watched a video which has about 70 likes and clicked on it again and again. And the views rised

I dont know why... but that little cardboard wheel on the musicbox looks like it's animated
dies200 it's wood, not cardboard
the LITTLE wheel
it's because it's jerky. I bet it's not constantly rotating so the tape is firmly pulled. Or that's atleast my theory.
its not completely straight, thats all.
dies200 Oh, yeah, now i see what you mean haha. I agree with LittleGiant's theory, it's not rotating at a costant speed.

Hope you're doing good still, all the best!
how are you? hopefully this reply reminds you to listen to this song yet another time!
The lack of replies to the people asking if he's still going is depressing.
The girl rocks on that typewritter.
the fact that a typewriter is an instrument in this song kicks a**
What if the typewriter did a perfectly timed ding at the end of the stanza
I keep coming back to this one.. my fav all time version of this song!

Just Ben Pokemon soundtrack for a city or gym likely.
I was thinking PSX Rayman.
Sounds like a song I hear on your mom😏there take that.
Jet -Up umm okay that was not a good roast but you tried atleast?
Jet -Up that doesn’t even make sense nor was it funny you just sounded like a idiot
Musicists: I play instruments
Wintergatan: I make instruments play themselves
up next: *makes instruments play musicians*
I love the fact he incorporates Lego into his musical instruments :) See?!, it's not just a toy for kids after all.. it's a tool for any age :)
BrickToyTrains whT legos
BrickToyTrains lego isnt a a toy. but u can use it as a toy ;)
And it’s also in one of his music instrument marble machine not X
Well so is minecraft.
youtube doesn't seem to think so
Just listened to this for the first time and felt so light for a moment... A grasp of peace for a moment... thanks...
Absolutely beautiful. I also love how you captured the sound of the slide projector from the original song... with a typewriter.
This is the reason i have no problem paying for public German TV and radio stations. Thank you WDR

Looking at this comment in 2020 is a bit bizarre... At least the music is good

Wintergatan: Yes.

can i work for yo guys? i'm ready to play the typing machine instrument
AudiChoiron it's a type writer XD
And actually it's not an instrument XD lol
-Funtime Freddy- i want a typewriter... to play...
Sry but the typewriter is already taken by a woman |;~/
It’s a bonus sound, not an instrument. Because we didn’t have the typewriter sound on the piano so yeah.
U2 tour inventory=120 trucks (yes really) with every instrument of significant cost and equipment. Wintergatan= A box of lego and some cardboard...
Every time I hear this it brings happiness
So beautifull and calmly
well for me, when I listen to this I feel peace

was just going to comment the same thing
I was thinking the same thing
I still love it, but with modulin it will be more than perfect.
