I started using these and have been killing it. I Like the section on the various hook set ups. I have been using jigs only. Going to try the eagle claw. Also I have only been using them in open water. I liked your tip about fishing in the weeds. Going to give it a shot. Only drawback I found using them is they get destroyed by the fish. They work great but one pack doesn't last too long if you are catching fish. Awesome product and great video.
Wow, thanks for introducing me to this lure. Fished the 4.8 for the first time today and landed my personal best. A 5.12 lb largemouth (and thats in NH!). The bait really is a joy to fish with. I was also very surprised by just how great looking they are in person. Pictures online don't do these baits justice.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing Shawn. That's incredible to get your biggest fish on the first time using these lures! Definitely a way to gain confidence in a lure.
I'll say...must have been that "strong squid scent". I am surprised you don't explicitly mention the smell in your video (or maybe I just missed it). These things stiiiiiiink.
The one I have in the swimbait is an Owner Twistlock weighted swimbait hook in 4/0. It is a good hook, but I now use other brands that offer a larger gap. Eagle Claw makes a nice one that can be found a lot of places and is a bit less expensive. Also the Mustad Ultrapoint is a solid choice. There are many other options, but those are what I have tried so far.
Hi Karl, i want to buy this amazing lure in 2.8 inch for perch fishing. Could you advise me witch size Gamakatsu ewg hook i have to buy? Have a nice day and thanks for sharing! 🤝
Hey man - I'm not sure on those very small sizes. I have never used the 2.8. But, according to the Keitech USA web page they advise a size 1/0. www.keitechusa.com/catalog/fat-swing-impact.html
If I had to choose one size I'd go with the 4.8". Keep in mind thats NJ size bass. For you in Cali maybe the 5.8 is more versatile. I had days where the larger size was the ticket. I also had days where the fish wouldn't go for the 5.8, but the smaller 4.8 got killed. Also, as with crankbaits I use the 5.8 in mirky water and in low light conditions and the 4.8 in clearer water.
Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your tips. The way you break everything down so precise, I appreciate it. What size/weight twistlock weighted hook you you recommend for the 3.8''?
Thanks a lot man. I've seen your vid's and I'm pretty sure you have a lot more rod options than myself. I sling it on what I got...either a 6'6 Abu Veritas M or an old school Bass Pro 6' Spiral Graphite M.
Thanks man! Your right, they will break apart if the fishing it good, but honestly that's any soft swimbait unless its made of Elaztech (Zman plastic). I'll take ripped baits any day over lures that don't rip and aren't catching fish.
Well i only fish clear water pretty much. I think i will just get both and see what works best. I have been looking at these baits for a while now and i have been wanting to get some! put it on an a-rig, and just fish it by itself. Thanks i will let you know how they do for me.
How did you work yours in the winter? This is issue I am having now. I can tell you what I am dong now is a worm type style. I am hitting bottom just barely tap, tap. Any ideas? Thanks...
i wonder if the sexy violet is a good color. i have great success with that kind of purple/violet color with worms but i don't know if it would work with a swimbait.
You mentioned that you fish at night... are you fishing from your canoe or from shore?? Just curious because I use a similar setup as you with the canoe and trolling motor (old town sportsman square back), but I am hesitant about going out at night on such a small vessel. Awesome videos too btw... I really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and opinions.
Hey Dante - I fish from my canoe almost exclusively. Fishing at night can be a little weird at first, particularly on a small craft. But, keep the life vest on....have back up light and batteries and be careful of weather. I would never stay out if strong winds were expected or a storm (of course). I'd say 80% of the time if I'm fishing into the night I do it with another person. But, as long as you are safe and prepared fishing at night can be very fruitful and relaxing. A nice moon reflecting on a smooth surface of water.....glowing eyes of deer and raccoons coming to the water's edge...the sounds of owls and crickets.....its all very majestic.
KeepinItReelFishing Thanks for the reply man. I usually go with a friend since my canoe is tough to manage solo (I like your video on the sportspal by the way). Do you use navigation lights or anything? From what I understand you fish in New Jersey, not sure what the regulations are, but in PA I am pretty sure you need nav lights on anything with a motor.
Totally up to you. I have always used mine on just braid. Because its a lure I'm typically using around cover such as grass, pads, mats, and timber I feel braid is the best choice. I reserve fluorocarbon leaders for slow moving finesse lures that a fish would have time to inspect. The Keitech is typically more of a reaction lure.
The 4.8" is probably the go-to size for most people. However, I prefer the extra size of the 5.8". The 5.8 puts out more thump, casts farther, and also works better if you ever fish at night. Largemouth bass have zero issues eating the larger size lure....even 1lb fish inhale it. However, being just about 6" I feel it will pull in more large fish over time.
+KeepinItReelFishing What size and brand hook do you use for each size? I was thinking about getting a couple 4.3 and 4.8 but wasn't sure about what size hooks to get. Thank you

Wow thanks, Only just getting into using lures, and this video has helped a lot. Thanks from Australia
Your welcome. I think you will like them a lot!
That's cool, I'm not a huge swim bait guy. I'm still trying to figure out the best action rod for em.

KeepinItReelFishing .. thank you for the info, this will help me a lot to find the proper hook. 🤝

Nice video, can you upload a video showing how to actually rig the swimbait? How you place those spring lock hooks in the bait. Tnx
this used to be my secret go-to bait. works well in both fresh and saltwater. try it on a spinnerbait as a trailer.

Wow. It's become a confidence bait for me. I have literally caught over 1/2 of all my fish this year on it.
Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your tips. The way you break everything down so precise, I appreciate it.

10:50 Those hooks there are the best to use in my opinion 4/0 or 5/0
I shaky head them with the Edwin Evers Yum BIG screw in shaky head jig. Works great

Great review buddy!!! I'm gonna have to get some of those real soon!!! What rod action do u like best for those baits?
Well i only fish clear water pretty much. I think i will just get both and see what works best. I have been looking at these baits for a while now and i have been wanting to get some! put it on an a-rig, and just fish it by itself. Thanks i will let you know how they do for me.
these things have one hell of a sent!
Hello love your vids. Please do a review on the new 6.8 and 7.8 versions. Thank you

do you like the 4.8 in better or the 5.8? what do you feel is the difference between the 2? besides size, the kind of fish they catch?
What about the Owner Beast Twist Lock?
Do they solve the gap problem?
What kind of hook is that you used to rig the swimbait?
What is the best hook and hook size for a 5.8 keitech swing lure

how heavy are these baits without the hook?
what size of hook you use for 4.8" hook size 5.0?
were do you buy them and how much are they
Could I use just braided line on the swimbait or I must use it wih a leader?

Green Pumpkin = Bass!!
Part 1 here, versus part 2 later.....I guess you are a believer. Didn't Shimano have a ribbed minnow bait? This maybe the exact same thing, huh??
I have 6 packs and haven't thrown it once:)
i'll tell you i'll never use another bait other than a silver shiner 4.3 for the rest of my life. 🎣
Haha no way man
