Nice vid. I would have loved to have seen the final result. Also I notice the promised answers to some excellent questions below have not been answered. Not one single answer! How disappointing
Love this video. I would never have thought this was 7NN. The swatch look so much darker and cooler then her hair and the outcome. Good to know it comes out like this
Can you do a video please on your formula for zones 2 and 3 on Maria or anyone else 😉 🙏 thank you very very very informative loved the video licensed stylist
Love this video, thanks for the free education! I will be stocking up on color gels lacquers for my upcoming clients. I have always loved shades eq gloss and use it on almost everyone, so now I will pair the new lacquers with it.
Thanks, I am very new with redken, I have a question if the hair 100 % gray can you still used the product or I have to use different product? Thanks 😊
Thank you for this education :). What “Color Gels” color would you use on a level 7, or 8 natural ash blond root, with 30 to 40% grey, with no resulting warmth from the 20 volume developer? Thank you!
I'm newer to Redken color gels. Have a very resistant client that likes 8NG or 9NG. What formula would you recommend to be close and blendable without a line of demarcation?
Thank you!! Can you mix up a gels laquer with 10 to put on zones 2/3 or pull through the rest of your color 5-10 min before rinsing to refresh zones 2-3? Or just use shades? Also I Love the new gel laquers. I like to touch up roots first (especially my grays) then do a highlight or balayage. Can the laquer stay on too long to ensure the lightener processes to the shade you want to lift to?
Absolutely love this video! I am a die hard Redken lover! And I love to learn something new everyday! Thank you for the free education! However I do have a question, do you ever have to use a 30 developer for your very resistant grey? Or do we ALWAYS need to use just 20? Thanks and God bless!
Hi! Can I ask why you used 20 volume instead of 30 in the front, where your formula was a level 7? Since her starting level was 4, and the formula was a level 7, why choose 20 instead of 30 since you're moving up 3 levels? Thank you, this video is lovely
@@elvisfangirl9093 I will answer since she didn't get back to you. I believe she mentioned the model had less than 25% so the 20v would be the best coverage for grey. I believe you can use 10, 20, 30, or even 40 but the best coverage would be 20v for stubborn grey. Hope this helps!
I would imagine because the root is a “hot” zone. So while you are lifting a 4 to a 7 with only 20 vol, chances are the hot zone is going to bump up that extra half a level…
So if I added clear to a colour would it make it a level lighter? I'm new to this line and I was looking for copper in a level 9 yesterday. Could I have mixed the CB's with clear to reach a 9?
I just used Shades Eq 5na on my gray/white roots and it is INK BLUE!! I now have BLUE roots!! I used the Shades Eq bc I didn’t want to use permanent color bc my hair is bleached to 8/9 level and I trying to avoid damaging w/permanent color bc as the hair grows out I will be bleaching it again. PLEASE HELP!! I don't want blue roots!! Last time I did my roots I tried Shades Eq 6n for root smudge and it was way too red! That's why I dropped a level to 5na, hoping for a more neutral/ash root shade, yet it is BLUE!!
I’m here because I had a client who was 50% grey, so used a 3N 20V 35 minutes and her roots came out lighter than her ends. 😢 she turned to be level 5 instead of 3 😢 do not know why.
Hi! I was just wondering how can I obtain a chocolate color with auburn reflexes (a 5) with Redken Color Gels Lacquers? I have a 50% grey hair and a 4 natural tone (chatain). Great tutorial, btw!
Hi ! Thx !! For this informative video Question.....my client is a level 6-7 with 25% greys used the Redken Volcanic lacquer for 20mins ?but the greys around her temples & forehead remained the same
Try applying to those area first. Could be very fine hair I find with my hair 20vol opens up the cuticle too much then the colour just escapes out the strands. Try 10vol! I know it sounds counter productive but could help.
In my case I used 6NN with 15 developer on 80% grey roots processed for 15 min and my roots end up black , completely black ; nothing like an 6 level:(
I have a client who wants to blend her gray patch on the hairline to the rest of her hair without changing her natural hair color. Could I use shades eq gloss or cream to do that? Which one is best for this service.
Hi, I’m using a Redken color lacquer, shade midnight. I was wondering is I have use 1:1 ratio of the lacquer and Redken Gloss developer, will it developed in my hair?
I have Cover Fusion 7nn on zone 1 with 25% grey and added highlights but want to tone and blend because it’s looking orange- what do I use to cool it all down?
Question....I have been using Chromatics on my clients. Since it is being discontinued, I have switched to the gels.( Both oils and lacquers) How do you keep the little grays that like to stand up stay down in the gel? That is really my only issue.
I would think so 🤔 think the idea is to use different ph on each zone. 1 being the scalp area so use the gels and permenant colours then 2,3 the mids and ends use shade eq. So apply the permanent colour to the root then blend the shades eq upwards. Have a look at the Redken professional informations they are quite easy to understand.
I’m not sure if you should just because there’s ammonia in the gels which causes banding since it is technically permanent. Shades eq is just demi permanent
Hi, can you make a video on how to coverage gray while doing highlights?
I LOVE this woman's passion for hair color! She really knows her stuff! Best Gray coverage tutorial that I have seen.
That looks so red for 7NN
Nice vid. I would have loved to have seen the final result. Also I notice the promised answers to some excellent questions below have not been answered. Not one single answer! How disappointing
She kinda showed the final result at the beginning I guess that’s was plenty in her eyes.
This was an excellent gray coverage tutorial that was packed full of valuable insights. Brava Lindsay!
Love this video. I would never have thought this was 7NN. The swatch look so much darker and cooler then her hair and the outcome. Good to know it comes out like this
You have to factor in the warmth her hair will produce as it lifts lighter.
A tad bit of ash would of balanced it
Nice of you for not answering any questions - even academics allow questions and even give their answers!
Can you do a video that shows how color gel lacquers color 9VRo, 8VRo, 6VRo on brown hair? Please 😊🙏

Absolutely 💯 🔥🔥🔥🔥loved it I’ll have to take you w/ me wherever I go just to stay abreast thank you so much for this great explanation!!

Thanks for the details about gray coverage and diff formulas for front and back. Also, your hat is fantastic.
If zones 2 and 3 are not the level I want can I bring colour gels through to achieve the level I want and then use shades eq for future applications
Thanks, I am very new with redken, I have a question if the hair 100 % gray can you still used the product or I have to use different product? Thanks 😊
Color gel laquers provides 100% gray coverage .

Color gels makes an 8ng or 9ng, does she have any grey?
Great video . Easy understand 👌Thank you so much

Was this a retouch or virgin application if u don't mind me asking

Mix brown & red @ lv5 . Your gray hair will serve as dimension reflecting brighter
Difference between color gel lacquers and red ken color gel oils (ammonia free)???
Great video I have a question when you combine the two shades for the back was the 6ab color lacquers as well ?

The finished product looks like hot roots. No?

Hey there if someone had dark natural hair and got cutdown and now the hair is level 7 but what do I use for the new grey?

Perm wraps on top lay the down
How much processor do you mix in with the gels?
When covering Gray 25 to 50% can RB be mixed with RV
I am considering changing from Goldwell to Redken. Can you tell me the difference between the two?
what families did you list? Was it: NN, N, NW, CB (or CV??), WG, and RB? Or was it RV? Thanks!
RB

Shades is Demi permanent meaning it will fade out of your hair

Way too orange for 7nn
3:37 the 6 that cover grey
