    Hi Christine.
    I was using the discontinued Color Gels in 5N. I am now using the 5N walnut, the result was brassy. You suggested to try 3 part 5N Walnut and 1 parts 5NA Walnut. It's still brassy. Is there another color in the lacquers that would give me medium to dark brown without the orange/red? I so want to like this new reformulation, but so far I have not had success.

    Hi Christine I have an issue when using these on 100 percent gray or even no gray . its never dark enough for my clients and usually doesn't cover their gray completely using 20 and 10 volume

    Hi Christine,
    I was just using straight 5na and was getting brassy results with the new ingredients so you suggested that
    I use 3 parts 5N and 1 part 5NA, How many parts of pro-oxide developer should I use for those measurements and how long should it be kept on, my usual 30 mins.?
    I'm so sorry for all my questions but this new formula threw me for a loop.

    Hello! So our salon Hair Cuttery just launched the new lacquers and they truly are beautiful rich colors but we are having a little difficulty covering gray, especially in the 8,9 and 10 levels. We are doing n, nw and 20v and even pushed processing time to 45 min max. Really hoping you have a trick up your sleeve or some great tips! Thank you in advance!

      Thanks for reaching out to me with your question. Yes levels 8-10 can be a bit trickier. At those levels the concentration of die molecules is not a much as say in a level 5 or six. That being said there are two things that I can think of why... first, make sure you have accurately determined the percentage of gray. If you formulate for 40% and it’s really 50% your coverage would seem more transparent. Second, gray hair is different from white hair. If there is white mixed in with the gray you will want to add some WG or CB to compensate for the complete loss of pigment in that hair.
      Oh and one more thing, try dropping your developer down to a 10vol and time for 30min. I actually get better coverage doing that sometimes. Hope that helps. Happy coloring. 🤓

    Hi Christine, thank you this very informative video. I love your hair color. What did you use?

    Hi Christina -
    I used the "new" Color Gel Lacquers 5N (Used to be Coffee Bean/now it's "walnut") with my regular Redken Pro-Oxide 20 Volume, left on for 30 minutes. My roots are a brassy orange-ish brown. Is this truly the same formula? Am I doing something wrong?

      kristen gibson HI Kristen, Thank you so much for using Color Gel Lacquers and for your feedback, which is always important to us. As you know we have made Color Gel Lacquers low ammonia to be more comfortable for the guest and the stylist. In addition to the NEW low ammonia we have also recalibrated some of shades to match up better with Shades EQ Gloss. The N family is one that has been recalibrated and may appear to have a warmer reflect. You can add some of the NA family to your formula to help counterbalance the warmth that you are now seeing. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching 5th Ave Coffee Talk.

      Hi Christine - I messaged you on FB. The question above was made because with the new Gel Laquers I tried to use the same 5N color - but my roots are now brassy. The new name of this is 5N Walnut. When you suggested that I "add some of the NA family" - should I just get 5NA Walnut?

    • @christinekaderbek6733
      @christinekaderbek6733  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      kristen gibson I would start by mixing 3 parts 5N, 1part 5NA.

      Christine,
      I'm so sorry but I'm getting my new colors in today would you please have time to answer the question about how much proOxide developer I will need to use with the new mixture that you spoke of above, 3 parts 5N, 1 part 5NA? Thank you so much for your unbelievable patience on this

    What is "clear" used for? Can it be used alone and not lift the natural hair color?

    • @christinekaderbek6733
      @christinekaderbek6733  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shannon Gauthier Clear is used to make a shade more translucent. If you’re using clear that belongs to an alkaline color line, such as Color Fusion or Chromatics, you would get lift, exposing the natural underlying pigment. Which leaves a warm result. If you used the crystal clear 000 in Shades EQ Gloss or Clear in Shades EQ Cream you will have no lift and incredible shine because they are demi permanent lines. Happy coloring.

      I have tried mixing 5N with 5Na as suggested, all continue to get brassy.

    • @christinekaderbek6733
      @christinekaderbek6733  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      GK try dropping your developer. When the desired end result is cool always reach for a 10 or 20 vol.
