    I love this tutorial! The making of the shorts was very straightforward and you broke it down in a way that seems very doable. My one complaint is that I am struggling to understand how you made the pattern from your measurements. While I normally love this method of pattern making, I admit that I'm not sure how you created this pattern. The waist length makes sense but I'm not sure how you knew how long to make the curve and where to make the flap dip. I totally understand if you do not want to do this, but it could be cool if you had a video dedicated to teaching us how to measure ourselves and draw out this pattern. No worries and I'm sorry if this is too much to ask for! ^_^;; Thanks for the tutorial and have a good day!

    Those are cute. I like that pleated pants and shorts are coming back in. I think I would add 2 back darts if I made it. The greater the difference between waist and hip measurement, the more necessary the darts would be.

    absolutely love this! thank you for taking the time to make your videos:) i taught myself how to sew this summer to make face masks, and want to try to start making clothes for myself! you mentioned in another video that you took sewing lessons, but do you have any recommendations or maybe even starting pieces for beginners?

      Hi there! Thank you so much I really appreciate it!💛 that’s awesome that you are learning how to sew. My simplest tutorials would probably be my shirred crop top tutorial, midi skirt tutorial, and my tiered ruffle skirt tutorial!😊

    This is my favorite style of shorts! I'm a little rusty on my skills, but want to make these in the future!! When you pin the loose shape on yourself, how do you keep the measurements and pins, and take them off if there isn't a closure on them yet? Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but wouldn't you have to undo some pins to take it off, and therefore loose the markings?

    I'm trying to draft a pattern for pleated shorts but I've never made pants before, only tops, pinafores and skirts, so I wonder... Can I make them flare out more dramatically like you could a rectangle pleated skirt? I assume I'd have to make the side seams form an A line of sorts and probably add more to my hip measurement so it's a bit more dramatic? Questions questions, I should probably try a simple pair of shorts before doing this, or maybe I'll just use my cheap fabric for mockups and report back hahaha

    • @PaperStxrs
      @PaperStxrs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there!✨ to make these flare out a bit more, I would recommend making the width of the shorts bigger so that you can add a thicker pleat. You could even make it so that you do two pleats on either side instead of one if you want to add even more fabric. The other thing you can also do, is from the waistband you can make the side seam get slightly wider as it goes down to flare them out more. If you are a little unsure about how they are going to work out, you can always make a prototype out of muslin fabric, and once you like the fit, use that as a pattern piece for your fashion fabric. I hope this helps and I wish you luck!!✨

    • @PaperStxrs
      @PaperStxrs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Well the front and back are going to be different because you are obviously going to need more room in the back. Is there a specific measurement that you are confused about?✨

    do you usually prewash your fabric before starting a clothing piece? ive never really made my own clothes before, but i know stuff usually tends to shrink...

    • @violetj4364
      @violetj4364 ปีที่แล้ว

      you usually pre wash fabric based on what kind material it’s made of!

  • @CamilleFolie

    Is there an easy formula to how you drafted the other measurements for the dimensions of the shorts?
    I love these, but being plus sized, I've never been able to make bottoms (other than skirts) that fit and are flattering ?

    • @PaperStxrs
      @PaperStxrs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi there! I don’t really use a formula to draft my patterns, I just kind of map it out from my measurements. I briefly explained how to alter the size of the shorts in the video, but I know it can still be quite difficult. I would suggest using a pair of shorts that you like as almost a pattern piece, and use their measurements as a guide. The nice thing about these pants is you can make them quite oversized and then pleat them to fit you. The best advice I can give you is to make them bigger than you think originally, and take them in as you go. Pattern making is all about trial and error! Good luck!💛
