This bike was a beast. A new page has turned for Harley! The only part that seemed out of place is the foot position. The forward controls aren’t great and would be much better in the middle position.

I don’t think building more and more super expensive motorcycles is how to reach the younger generation. There’s more than a few younger riders who would love to own a traditional Harley, but the price of their bikes just prohibits it completely. So just changing the engine and the styling but retaining the premium price point isn’t going to fix the problem. IMO

That’s a good point and I agree. I wish I had touched more on the price in the video as that’s what keeps me from owning one too. I guess I just meant that being they are coming out with fresh new offerings that are more competitive in power and styling means they recognize something has to change at least.

@@BlackRiverRider Yeah, I’m not convinced that Harley Davidson is as concerned with reaching this younger rider as we think. I have a 28 yr old son who loves the traditional Harley cruiser and bagger and so do most of his friends. They just don’t have a prayer of owning one due to price. I only recently bought a Low Rider S at 53 yrs old because I finally make enough to afford one after all these years. Or at least I tell myself I can afford it.

I have a few friends my age (30) that can afford the nicer options Harley has, but they also have either great paying jobs, no financial obligations like family to look after, or both. Harley markets themselves as a premium option like the Euro brands do so they will naturally be higher than comparable Japanese brands as a result as those are built to hit the lower price point. That being said, used bikes are the way to go. I’ve only lost about $700 of value between two bikes after riding them around for years and selling.

I think parts or accessories of other brands that you are talking about is far more expensive than Harley-Davidson. Maybe it’s competing with price of a Regular MT10( MT 10 will outperform this bike In higher rev but you buy this bike not to compete with super naked but for a torque ride+fun+harley quality-attention to details ). The fit , finish will be better than others I think. Also making in USA is costly while there are bigger advantages. The bike I feel overpriced is Nightster 975T. One standout feature of Nightster is space( two person bike). You can easily have a pillion rider unlike other competitors who has no space for anything but just the rider.

I can’t speak to how expensive replacement parts are, but I think the MT10 is a tier higher than this bike in regards to power and marketplace. I feel the XSR900/MT09 is the main competitor if choosing from Yamaha given it makes similar HP but a bit less torque. Being that it starts at 10k vs the 15k of the Sportster, that’s what I was referring to in the equal or more bike for the money argument. I could see how it would fit in between those models though and steal customers from each.

@@BlackRiverRider I agree M10 is far higher in performance and is a legend . Just the torque might be good for sportster S+ v twin feel+ higher quality plastics . Yamaha has increased the price I think . I choose MT10 coz it a bigger bike and size + weight wise it comparable to sportster S. MT 09 is like a super Moto. It’s nimble like a dragon fly . It will beat sportster S if TC is off and if any rider can keep the front end on the road from 0-60 or a qtr mile.

Yeah I can see that. The Harley definitely does have a more premium look and feel to it. It’s hard to go wrong with many modern bikes honestly. I ride one that’s almost 19 years old so any new bike feels like a massive difference. Once I can get a vehicle paid off, I’ll be looking for one to buy.
