And the game doesn’t even tell you that you need to do it or how to do it. You can see the doors during the turbo lift journey but nothing in the mission says you have to move them a certain way to cross the shaft!
That elevator thing is literally insane lol. That's not even a 'puzzle'. I think the assumption back in the day was that you just bought the guide for games like this. I remember many games it was like a no brainer having the guide with the game.
Whoa! I can't imagine how hard it was to unwrap and memorize this level! I never got close to beating it as a kid, so I used to joke that instead of saving my friend I ended up lost in prison myself 😂
@@Starchaser38 The Force Engine is an amazingly faithful "source port" (There is no Jedi engine source code released, they remade the game engine from scratch and it requires the dos version to run, it also runs outlaws.
@@Dosgamert As a kid I didn´t solve elevator shaft and just run around and after some time even didn´t get to lvl 6 because of the bunch of gates in lvl 5 (didn´t know or forgot about speeding)
Had to watch this video, rewinding sections completely, absolutely mystified about the deisgn of this terrible level. We wouldn't even have been able to beat this back in the day without a guide. I mean what the hell??
Thanks for the guide. This Dark Forces was a good game until I came to this ugly mission, pretty hard for me, mostly the lifts part near the end, my poor brain isn´t enough to imagine how to finish this complex level.
23:58 - You know, I have this vague memory that something happened if you input the code "X-X-X" here (i.e. the symbols that look like the letter "X"). I'll have to check it when I have time. I think one of the cells had another of those crazy Ewoks hidden inside.
Unrelated to this video, but some other games I don’t think you’ve covered: Police Quest, Space Quest, Kings Quest, Hocus Pocus, Halloween Harry, Duke Nukem. Love your channel btw!!!
Hey @Jeremy, if you want you can always search for old games on my channel through the magnifying glass or check out my MS-DOS Longplay's Playlist for hours of nostalgia! :)
Here's the longplay of the remaster! th-cam.com/video/r6K7h7quyjc/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Dosgamert

Never forget Crix Madine can be seen in Return of the Jedi. Love the lore bits of the extended universe.
that elevator shaft detour is some grade A bullcrap
great game, LOVE the weapons, but sometimes you get this cryptic old game junk

You really get the shaft in this level.

It's sad that you can't really save in the middle of a level. I've been grinding this one over and over!
@@Dosgamert I wonder if it's going to be implemented by a source mod when the restoration project hits 1.0...

This level is horrendous
No
Thank god for cheat codes

You're welcome!
Not to mention that stupid jump puzzle in the garbage shaft at the end ugh! Use Lapogo cheat and just bypass that.
I miss to save anywhere option when the game was released like in every first person shooters since Wolf 3D. Dark Forces is still cool.
It remembers which missions you completed. There's no mid-level saving. If you want or need that then check out "The Force Engine".
Thanks I was so lost😅
the hardest parts of this game were that so many of the areas look so similar
This level isn’t very fun
That jumping part at the end of the level is fucking impossible
This game would make you rethink your life lol

No Ewok, but just another cell that opens up.
Btw 23:10
Hope to see some Star Wars: Dark Forces 2 content someday :D
Me too! And MotS as well! Outcast and Academy would be awesome, too!

He has livestreamed Hocus Pocus and Duke Nukem quite a few times, though.
@@AlexeiVoronin Thank you! I scrolled through all his videos and didn’t see any recordings, but obviously missed it.

Thanks for walkthrough! Was having a little trouble, hope you have a blessed year 😊 John 3:16-21
May the force be with you
How the heck was anyone supposed to figure that out back in the days now back to it on XboxOne remastered is good.
15:19 that doors not open for me and i put in the code??? help?
Theres 2 orange codes. One for each door on the orange floor.
@DorisDay-lw4xs i didn't find one on that level. I found one in a later level
