yea, i learned that after i bought my Tiger :( it turns out having 200m for frontal armor is nice but, fuckin useless entirely. especially when for some reason 60% of the games put you at bottom tier, vs tier 9 mediums and lights that can drive circles around you, pierce all armor at all angles, and fire 100x faster then you. its hilarious, so i usually drive into a lake and dont give them the satisfaction of a free kill. :3

Why the tiger advanced in that scene... well they had to "get closer" so the americans could kill it... If the tiger had stayed back it could have oneshotted all 3 Sherman.
however, the movie is also unrealistic cuz Sherman E8 should be able to penerate a Tiger's frontal armor in such a close distance. So i guess the flaws balanced out

Likewise tanks like the Firefly and the Pershing helped to render the Tiger's strong armor protection obsolete. Many Tigers and noted Tiger aces began dying off pretty quickly from '44 onward once the Allies belatedly started to actually field better weapons against them, which they delayed doing for so long previously. IS-2s and the few Pershings that saw action could frequently engage them on an equal footing and ISU-152s could pretty reliably destroy literally anything they managed to hit, but Fireflies were particularly reliable Tiger killers. Hellcats were also capable of rapidly flanking and penetrating Tiger tanks without much difficulty. It was the standard issue tanks like Shermans and T-34-76s which were no good against Tigers to begin with and which bore the brunt of most encounters prior to and after 1944. But Tigers were nothing close to 20 years ahead of their time IRL and their effectiveness was due way more to other factors and had way less to do with their actual design than they're often given credit for.
It was unreliable, more due to supply-issues than design, but what really killed them off at the end of the war was Ground Attack planes and massed Tank Destroyers working together with artillery support. Fuckers were terrifying in an ambush.
Lordincompetent, you do realise the IS-3 was never in World War 2, right? Same with the IS-4. And, I'd love to see some sources how Hellcats & Fireflies were "particularly reliable" on taking out Tigers, and how Hellcats flanked and took out Tigers, "With ease".

I wanted to like the game. Many tanks are fun to play (I personally love the Swede TD line and the history behind them) but man, they just can't find the sweet spot to balance premium ammo and Matchmaker. Honesty I love the frontlines battle mode because it's way more laid back than last team standing random battles. Just grab a tank and shoot shit. Kinda why I wish there was a deathmatch mode in the game. Frontlines is the closest. Only time I play now.
Fun fact: They filmed many scenes near where i live and i used to drive past this scene and saw the tank. Brad Pitt used to come down to our village every week to say hello. It was filmed in the UK.

Anyone with a brain lmao? in an instance like that with others spotting for you it's not needed, but the commander has a pretty big role in tank... you lose 10% of all crew base skills without him (longer reload, worse accuracy etc.)
That Tiger can take out a Sherman from at least 1-1.2 km. Now given that this is hedgerow country, they would have just stayed in the bushes, flank, or find a road sit at the end/beginning and take out an entire column by shooting the lead tank/vehicle. I understand that this move would need a huge budget to be accurate, but tigers usually traveled in packs. With that said, they could flank and surround enemies with ease. Also, that tigers turret is not even close to being that slow. It would have swung and taken out the Shermans with ease. Plus the reload, how many shots did it get off in that time? Come on. These are most likely crack experienced German tanks crews from the eastern front, even if they weren't it would still be a fairly quick reload time, and at that range, and the US tanks being Shermans, you don't really have to try to hard in aiming/sighting.
I know. That's why I said it would be very hard. The only thing they could have done was have their tanks that they had and have them scanned and do a bunch of different maneuvers/scenes and add more through CGI/copy paste. Still awesome that they managed to get what they got.
That's not true. That's a failure of logic that comes from not understanding American armor doctrine of the time. It didn't take 5 Shermans to kill a Tiger, it was just that the smallest operational group of Shermans was a 5-tank platoon. The 76mm Sherman depicted in Fury would have been well able to penetrate the front armor of the Tiger at the distance depicted.
Untrue. The 75mm Shermans would have had some trouble and needed to maneuver around, but the 76mm Sherman, the one Fury is depicted as, would have been able to penetrate the front armor.
Assassin Zakral I know. Fury isn't a regular M4A3 sherman, but a M4A3E8 sherman. The 76mm gun had no trouble penetrating a Tiger's frontal armor at such as close range.

I'm burned out from WOT. When it was new, 2 years in, I had a fantastic %, all US Tanks as well. Then we got the flood of USSR tanks. Guys with 2-3 accounts just in case they got busted for cheating they had a fall back. At one time I had friends in most the "Legend" clans, for them it became a chore, a job to keep good stats, every one of them went into AIM BOT, for the clan, for the respect and that they were always hunted because of status.. in real world the tiger was a beast in wot , not so much and they match it with russian tanks they came like 20 years after it
The IS-3 came out only 2 years after the Tiger and from an IRL standpoint has much more modern armor protection, while russian tank destroyers form the SU-100 up were just as effective against tigers IRL as they are in WoT. Likewise tanks like the Firefly and the Pershing helped to render the Tiger's strong armor protection obsolete. Many Tigers and noted Tiger aces began dying off pretty quickly from '44 onward once the Allies belatedly started to actually field better weapons against them, which they delayed doing for so long previously. IS-2s and the few Pershings that saw action could frequently engage them on an equal footing and ISU-152s could pretty reliably destroy literally anything they managed to hit, but Fireflies were particularly reliable Tiger killers. Hellcats were also capable of rapidly flanking and penetrating Tiger tanks without much difficulty.
It was the standard issue tanks like Shermans and T-34-76s which were no good against Tigers to begin with and which bore the brunt of most encounters prior to and after 1944. But Tigers were nothing close to 20 years ahead of their time IRL and their effectiveness was due way more to other factors and had way less to do with their actual design than they're often given credit for.

It was unreliable, more due to supply-issues than design, but what really killed them off at the end of the war was Ground Attack planes and massed Tank Destroyers working together with artillery support. Fuckers were terrifying in an ambush.

And, I'd love to see some sources how Hellcats & Fireflies were "particularly reliable" on taking out Tigers, and how Hellcats flanked and took out Tigers, "With ease".

I wanted to like the game. Many tanks are fun to play (I personally love the Swede TD line and the history behind them) but man, they just can't find the sweet spot to balance premium ammo and Matchmaker.
Honesty I love the frontlines battle mode because it's way more laid back than last team standing random battles. Just grab a tank and shoot shit. Kinda why I wish there was a deathmatch mode in the game. Frontlines is the closest. Only time I play now.

Fun fact: They filmed many scenes near where i live and i used to drive past this scene and saw the tank. Brad Pitt used to come down to our village every week to say hello. It was filmed in the UK.

Anyone with a brain lmao? in an instance like that with others spotting for you it's not needed, but the commander has a pretty big role in tank... you lose 10% of all crew base skills without him (longer reload, worse accuracy etc.)
That Tiger can take out a Sherman from at least 1-1.2 km. Now given that this is hedgerow country, they would have just stayed in the bushes, flank, or find a road sit at the end/beginning and take out an entire column by shooting the lead tank/vehicle. I understand that this move would need a huge budget to be accurate, but tigers usually traveled in packs. With that said, they could flank and surround enemies with ease. Also, that tigers turret is not even close to being that slow. It would have swung and taken out the Shermans with ease. Plus the reload, how many shots did it get off in that time? Come on. These are most likely crack experienced German tanks crews from the eastern front, even if they weren't it would still be a fairly quick reload time, and at that range, and the US tanks being Shermans, you don't really have to try to hard in aiming/sighting.
That was the only working tiger in the world so packs were a no go. Every tank in the movie was a used in war tank.
I know. That's why I said it would be very hard. The only thing they could have done was have their tanks that they had and have them scanned and do a bunch of different maneuvers/scenes and add more through CGI/copy paste. Still awesome that they managed to get what they got.

That's not true. That's a failure of logic that comes from not understanding American armor doctrine of the time. It didn't take 5 Shermans to kill a Tiger, it was just that the smallest operational group of Shermans was a 5-tank platoon. The 76mm Sherman depicted in Fury would have been well able to penetrate the front armor of the Tiger at the distance depicted.
Untrue. The 75mm Shermans would have had some trouble and needed to maneuver around, but the 76mm Sherman, the one Fury is depicted as, would have been able to penetrate the front armor.

actually tigers had extremely good frontal armor, it wasn't uncommon for a squad of Shermans to lose a few tanks when engaging one.
Assassin Zakral I know. Fury isn't a regular M4A3 sherman, but a M4A3E8 sherman. The 76mm gun had no trouble penetrating a Tiger's frontal armor at such as close range.

The german ammo was manufactured by prisons in concentrations lagers, so they ammo sometimes dont work. :-)

When it was new, 2 years in, I had a fantastic %, all US Tanks as well. Then we got the flood of USSR tanks.
Guys with 2-3 accounts just in case they got busted for cheating they had a fall back.
At one time I had friends in most the "Legend" clans, for them it became a chore, a job to keep good stats, every one of them went into AIM BOT, for the clan, for the respect and that they were always hunted because of status..
The dram is over, now some week 3 noob can download a free aimbot and have hero status.
