Great video I am 31 years old got into skateboarding because my son started watching revive videos I purchased a skateboard not a revive one but he is into all there stuff on that being said I have watched a lot of their videos on how to do tricks I think that is awesome they’re getting everybody involved into skateboarding now people saying they have no talent have not seen Jonny Giger on a skateboard or Jason park those dudes are killin it
I just dislike Braille because of their involvement with a cult. Arron has donated massive amount of money and he is getting paid by them to recruit new people into their cult.
The point made starting at the 5:54 mark is so true. For me I support the smaller channels like IHoliday, Skate Better, Toni Loves Skateboarding, Michael Relevant etc because these dudes provide knowledge/help/entertainment. Even the medium sized channels like Ben DeGros and Prodigal Suns I watch as well too. Skaters on youtube isn't a bad thing. Lastly for me if you don't like a channel just ignore them.
Ive dressed the way i have for the past 20 years after getting introduced to skate culture. As a fringe spectator of the culture i think alot of the die hards gotta its alot of people who truly respect and love the culture but are hesitant to fully immerse themselves out of fear of being looked at as a poser. So sources like Braille are good imo at removing some of that fear.
I grew up skating in the early 90s when skateboarding was still counter-culture. Skateboarding was of course about the craft, but also about the culture. When I see Braille, I see some guys who are technically good, but it feels like I am watching videos from a christian summer camp. Skating doesn’t have to be anything, but personally I don’t feel a lot of respect for the culture from those guys.
I think David Gravette has a really good take on social media/TH-cam and the skateboarding profession. He basically didn’t want to have social media to be noticed in the skateboarding world, but was totally fine with people who did, because if that’s what they want, cool, just don’t force others to do it. But because of how money flows in the post-Information Age, skaters don’t have a choice: social media and TH-cam is REQUIRED. I agree with this. Skaters should do what they want. However it sucks that skaters HAVE to use social media.
Skateboarding's roots come deeply from rebellion and being counter-culture. Basically since it's inception it's been something looked down upon. Skaters would be spit on, harassed by police, etc etc, which shaped it into what it is today. The diy, punk, "Fuck You!" attitude of skateboarding is something a lot of people cherish and connect with. It's additionally traditionally been small, tight groups of weirdos that have so much lingo to the point where they almost speak another language, and dedicate countless hours learning how to flip their little wooden toy around. When skateboarding becomes mainstream, it loses the comradery, emotion, and spirit of what it should be. Skateboarding shouldn't be a sport, it's not some quick cash grab for a big brand to sink their teeth into, it goes against everything the Olympics and brands like Nike stand for. When skateboarding goes mainstream, the attitude and meaning is lost, and people who would be laughing at skateboarders are instead riding penny boards. These complaints are of course hotly contested, as many people think new people coming into the skateboarding world allows it to progress and expand. It being mainstream also allows random people to pick up a skateboard, and become part of the culture, and at the end of the day, more skateboarders is usually a good thing. So at the end of the day it's up to you whether you care about skateboarding becoming popular or not.
@@youngboyouchswag9288I’m sorry to tell you, that’s how the world is. Skateboarding is not only about being a bum, it has a lot of faces. I actually returned to skate cause I didn’t connect to that side of skateboarding, I like looking good, spending money on how I look, with Nike SB and other brands I can skate and still being myself, without trying to be a hated part of the society
braille's just really isn't my cup of tea, but imo braille and revive get too much hate. sure, revive doesn't have the clout/legacy of established brands like powell, baker, zero, etc, but that doesn't make them less legit than the aformentioned brands. speaking of hate, i've noticed that most of them are either older skaters who idolize the 90s/early 2000s or from slap mag.
they're both awesome, a lot of people especially kids that skate watch revive and braille! I have been watching andrew shrock for so long, i think since i was like 7-9, i got into skateboarding before i watched them but they got me into actually trying to get better at skating
Great video

Great Video, Totally Agree with your Point of View On This Topic very interesting

Also ppl gotta realize braille is a business the amount of money they make off of their youtube is probably crazy
🔥🔥🔥you need to do more discussion videos!
Definitely more to come!
The Olympics that was a great point
Yo can you maybe do a review on Plan-B Skateboard Decks?
Yes I can definitely look into it
These guys just remind me of the Christian brands from the 90's that were always outsiders and never got respect.

This is a very good take
I don't like braille because of Aaron kyro
I like skaters but i fear them.
What’s wrong with skateboarding being mainstream? I hear people say it a lot. I just want to know why it’s a bad thing. :V

I think this opinion is only by other TH-camrs, not people out here skateboarding, from my experience no one cares, too busy shredding lol
