    I've been through an array of Quilters, from MicroPro 200 version 1 and Mach 2, thru 101 and 101R, thru MicroBlock, Interblock, now playing through a 202 with the Blockdock 12 HD. I've liked them all, but I have to say, the 202 just nails it. It's the culmination of all that went before. I now have a 22 Lbs 12" combo that I can do any gig with no matter how big or small; it sounds and responds incredible, not just like a tube amp, but better than most of the high end tube amps I've owned, from vintage blackfaces (back in the day before they were vintage) to modern boutiques; and has the versatility to be a flat keyboard amp (I play keys as well) or platform for my Helix. People complain about the price, but for what you're getting- super-high quality sound, serious scalable power, solid super-rugged units, and light-as-a-feather, I think they're very reasonably priced- especially verses a boutique amp that's twice the price, is heavy and does one thing. And it sounds like a boutique amp. Tube player since 1972. The tubes now stay home. :)

    I ended up buying this amp early this year because of this video, and Pat Quilter personally replied in detail to a follow-up product question I submitted to the Quilter website. Still love this amp. Thanks for your awesome demos, Jay!

    I just got my Toneblock 202 paired with the BlockDock 12HD. Forty years of playing and this is the finest amp I have ever played. Hardly a need for a pedal, but even using an Eventide H9, this amp fully exploits all of the options. Great job Quilter!

    Just picked up a used 201.

    -ok with overdrive pedals, but completely UNLEASHES high gain pedals.

    Amazing demo as usual. I think I'll keep my overdrive 200 it's more than enough for me. I also have the interblock 45 that's perfect for recording at home. Thanks for parting me from my money on that one Jay. That being said I would totally recommend this new 202 amp to someone looking for a portable powerful versatile amp.

    Hey J - you are the KING of demos for sure...anyway, I have a Pete's Special with a 101R. Love it. Also have a Two Rock and other tube stuff, but been using the Pete's live now. Really like it. Dumped my Fender DRRI since the Pete's is an exact sounding rig...so the 101R versus the 202. I know the direct out, and other stuff on the front (switches etc.) are new, but how about the sound? How much different is the tone on the 101R versus the 202? Thanks!!

    • @JayLeonardJ

      @colejustesen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here! I really loved the power and tube like feel, but the Tri-Q just didn't work for me. This new 202 model could be a great option, had I not just bought a PowerStage 170.

      Cole Justesen just placed an order for this today. Very excited at the prospect. Until recently I had been seriously considering a Kemper - so glad I found out about this. On paper the Pro 202 looks perfect for me 🤞🏻

    • @colejustesen
      @colejustesen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@icecreamforcrowhurst awesome! I hope the this iteration works better for you! I was trying to use an analog preamp pedal into the Pro Block 200, and I just couldn't get it to sound the way I wanted. I think this unit would do better in that application.

    • @icecreamforcrowhurst
      @icecreamforcrowhurst 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cole Justesen hey there. Just a quick update. I like this amp a lot, it fits the bill in all respects. However, even with the traditional three band eq for my sound I find I still need an eq pedal. It makes me realize that for me the eq pedal is a fact of life no matter what amp I play. Still haven’t tried it with a cab, for that I’m planning on the Quilter Frontliner.
      Incredible 200 watts of power and clean headroom in a 4lbs steel box, plus very versatile options for live sound. This is a piece of kit that will never outlive it’s usefulness. :)

    • @colejustesen

    Great vid mate. Just wanted to ask probably a dumb question- is the master volume the same as a power attenuator. For example could you set it at say 5 watts for home use and crank the gain without getting tone loss. If this is how it works, the flexibility of the amp becomes a compelling proposition!

    Hi Jay,
    First of all great demo, you always make everything sound great. Second, does the limiter besides affecting the preamp distortion also affects how the amp feels? Does it make it feel more saggy? How would the Benson Preamp sound through this in FRFR?

    • @JayLeonardJ
      @JayLeonardJ  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a Pro Block and I all ways thought the "automatic" eq function left me with a bass and mid relation that wasn't to my satisfaction. I just ordered a Micro Pro Mach 2 8. I will see if it will satisfy, if not, the 202 looks like a possibility. What is you take on the Mach 2? Did you do a video on it?

    Great demo, great playing, I see one of these in my future. I have a Micropro Mach 2, that one seems to have been phased out quickly, I suspect because the voicings didn't compete well with modeling pedals and were therefore superfluous. I was afraid Quilter was going out of business. I don't get the comment that this amp is pricey at all. Compared to what? Seems *very* reasonably priced to me.

      Hi Jay! Love your playing and demos. Been following you for a few years.
      Have you used any Quilter on a gig?
