    My son's room got like this when he was around 17. He didn't want me to go in there but it was obviously too overwhelming for him to tackle. Then he went away for a week. Finally I had to take action. Cleared up, redecorated into a cool space, painted furniture, new blinds and light fittings. When I picked him up I didn't say a word. Just waited until he went upstairs and all I could hear was "No way ......No way". It was an amazing moment for both of us. Next day he said it had been like staying in a hotel. Love him. Now he's the opposite, a complete neat freak & I'm the untidy one! 😃

    I love that peoole have learned to respect these kinds of videos for what they are. These used to get so much hate when people first started. The amount of guts it takes to out yourself on a situation like this then actively fix it to an audience is just inspiring. I've had messy rooms that were cleaned by the grace of a motivational video such as this. It's not only entertaining but it's useful too.

    Depression is one of the most evil insidious mental illnesses I've ever encountered. And the people who not only battle with it but overcome it are amazing. I've dealt with it myself and have fought the desire to unalive myself too.
    This video is so important and hey I hope you feel so much better for it!

      I suffer from depression and anxiety (Clinically diagnosed) and I feel so too...throwin away/donatin clutter/ unwanted stuff kind of clears off mental webs as well.Dont know how or if it is related at all

      Throwing away full garbage bags actually gives me anxiety because I know that all that plastic and garbage is probably going to end up in a landfill or in the ocean somewhere.

      @@sadia2395 i feel you. I was diagnosed with MDD 2 years ago. Since then, I tried so many things to make me feel better. I started learning crochet, i tried new recipes not only new recipes but i would try doing them from scratch. And as I am getting and feeling better, i started to exercise again and for the past month i've started cleaning up my house. Yeah.. it's satisfying to see all those garbage being thrown away as if i am throwing away this sickness out of me. I'm not done yet but i will definitely win this battle someday. I hope you're doing ok and making good progress. 😊

However I have empathy and i recognise that many times people simply cannot clean their rooms not because of laziness or lack of discipline, but because of mental health issues. So be human for once and show compassion.

    This helped me . Thank you for posting this. I'm 8 weeks pregnant with hyperemesis gravidarum and I have been so sick that it put me into a depression. I didnt do dishes for over 2 weeks. After watching this I got up and put a load in the dishwasher. It doesnt sound like much to some people but when you're hurled over the toilet vomiting 24/7 dishes are the last thing you want to do. Good job and thank you again

      indeed. i was suicidal a couple years back and without even realizing, my house would get so dirty & my mind would completely walk past it like it didn’t exist. i mean my mind as well felt as though i shouldn’t either but yes it plays a big factor. after i fought hard for those thoughts to vanish, i started cleaning my house. . .i started to see everything around me gain its purpose and color. i realized how long i had been gone. . .my kids needed me. and that’s all i truly had the strength for.

    8 months pregnant and due in 20 days! This is great inspiration to get my room ready and cleaned for me when I get done and to tackle getting my baby's stuff ready for when she comes. I usually seek motivation because of how tiring it is to do things now a days I mean even bending down takes the breath out of me but videos like these get me really motivated and now my room is clean and baby stuff is as ready as it can be to we get closer to the due date!     I got severe depression when I was 11, my room looked like this for quite a few years, when I was 12 ants infested my bed and I just slept next to them cause I didn‘t want to take food off my bed since it was the only way I would eat. Then I did this when I was about 14/15, just got rid of so much shit cause it accumulated in my room over literally my whole life, and ever since I‘ve stayed relatively tidy. I got into the habit of keeping organized, not buying things I don‘t really need or don‘t have the space for (so for example if I really want some new clothes I‘ll get rid of old stuff), and trying to just put stuff away immediately when I‘m done using it. My room still gets cluttered quite often but I‘m way quicker to clean it up, at the very least once a week but if I‘m doing well it‘ll always be tidy. Even though I was still suicidal till I was medicated late last year (at 20 years old) this method worked well for me for a while. If I don‘t have too much stuff in the first place then I won‘t have an opportunity to let it build up. Also to anyone who‘s suffering like this now, I feel your pain so much and I wish you the best and I hope you get the help you need

    As someone who has found themselves sleeping on the living room floor because there was literally no other surface to sleep on.. thank you for posting this. I hate looking for cleaning inspiration and all I can find is clean homes that need a 5 minute quick clean.. Like no I gotta CLEAN.
    It's amazing to see it get done because I know first hand how hard it is to clean that.

      Also, you gotta tidy up and declutter. This is something the video shows very nicely. Lots of people with messy apartments just have too much stuff, also garbage, lying around that just needs to leave the apartment before it can be tidied.

      It’s been two weeks and I hope got made some progress if not, don’t worry, slow and steady wins the race!
      Start one room at a time, small sections at a time. I like starting with garbage and then collecting all the dirty clothes into one pile and working my way through. After you get through that you should be able to conglomerate one pile of dirty clothes throughout rooms any then take any dirty dishes and start putting things away.
      Take breaks and drink water! ❤️

    this hits close to home, and i’m so proud of you for tackling it! i still remember when my dad came to pick me up from my mom’s house and found my room in a total state of disrepair. i was thirteen and horribly depressed. you could not see the carpet, and i still had a rat cage sitting there, even after my pet rats had been dead and buried for several months. he refused to ignore it and helped me spend the next three hours cleaning it. while he was not as kind or sympathetic as he probably should have been, given the circumstances, i now realize that he was already worried for my mental health as it was, and the scene had probably given him flashbacks to my maternal grandmother’s house (she was a hoarder, Gd rest her soul). at the time it was rough, but i remember stepping back with him and realizing that my room was hospitable again. my dad is not a perfect man, but his brand of tough love was what my depression addled brain needed. and at the end of the day, he was right there beside me, helping me pick through the mess. thank you for sharing! you did very well.

    Thank you for shearing this! Having depression isn't easy, but depressed people tend to blame theirselves for not getting the easiest things done. This helped me really to realise that I'm not alone with this and its okay to get help from the 'outside' via your video

    I applaud you for being so transparent! My daughter has trouble keeping her room tidy as well. One tip is to set a daily alarm for the same time each evening before bed. Then set a timer for 10 mins and straighten your room. Basically put everything back in its proper place. You’ll be surprised how much you can accomplish in 10 minutes and more than likely it won’t take the entire 10 to complete. You’ll feel accomplished and your room will be much easier to maintain. Hope this is helpful 🥰

      I get so depressed sometimes that I just don't care. I take my meds when the alarm goes off though so I want to try your alarm trick for putting stuff away. Thank you for the suggestion

      @@erinjohnson7504 It's a really good trick. I usually give myself a set time to clean something/anything. Once that timer goes off, I stop so I don't end up in spiral. It's something my previous therapist suggested I do because I'd clean for hours (I'd fixate really bad on a stain or something).

      I tell my teen that same thing but not ten minutes I say 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Her room is pretty much spotless. 2 minutes really does make a difference

    Tips: clean it every night right before you go to bed that way it only takes 5 minutes or so, also make sure that everything is in a spot where it is easy to access so it’s also easy to put away, or else you may stop putting it back. But great job!! I bet you felt amazing after this clean :)

    my comment was going to say “how do you live like that” until i looked over my shoulder and realized mine is no better. I’m 9 months pregnant and the last 2-3 months of my pregnancy made me so depressed that i just stopped caring about how my room looked. plus i don’t have the energy to clean. Just goes to show that we are quick to judge other people when we too are no better. My room isn’t as cluttered but it’s messy enough to take some hours to fully clean. You did good !

    I love that you threw away and got rid of stuff instead of just trying to find it a “home”. That never works because it goes right back to how it was!

      The responsibility of “finding a home” for something sets off my procrastination tendencies and then I just move the pile/bag around a few times to remind myself to get to it but I never do. So I got in the habit of just tossing it. Take away the guilt of someone else could use it, and toss it 💗

      I have a rule, if I take a thing and think a little too long about do i need it or not -> I MUST THROW IT AWAY
      I don't regret any of it, if you need something you threw away long ago you can always find some alternative :3

      sometimes it's worth it to save things. maybe i don't have any use for it now, but a couple months later i need it. happens all the time lol. this trend of getting rid of everything you dont use regularly and buying new if u end up needing it really isn't sustainable

    The fact that you were able to actually get yourself to clean is something I admire. I’ve been moved into my apartment for almost a month now and my clothes have just been Latin ton my floor.       I have depression AND anxiety, so the messiness would cause me anxiety and the depression wouldn’t let me do anything about the mess. Luckily, I’ve conquered my depression (once again) and would never ever let myself live in such disarray. Several nights a week, I make a list of what I want to accomplish the next day, such as laundry, empty the dishwasher, vacuum, clean the patio, plant seeds for the garden. Writing them all down not only gets them out of my head, but also reassures me that I won’t forget to do something, because forgetting would cause stress. Lists and plans make life easier for me.

      good for you guys who “can’t let it get this way” despite having depression. guess what depression is different for everyone. especially major depressive disorder or bipolar disorder, some people can’t even get out of bed for DAYS. do some research and realize that every mental disorder affects everyone differently.

    The strength it must’ve taken to muster up to clean all that..... just to look at it is overwhelming....whew. Sometimes just getting out of bed to brush my teeth seems like I’m about to enter a marathon.
    When I first clicked on the video I said damn, I’m a little triggered (my bedroom has looked like this plenty of times) ThenI thought, maybe she’s depressed. Had no idea until I read the comments that that is in fact true.
    I know about this all too well. “She’s” that thing that invites herself into your life when you didn’t ask for her company, puts her feet all on your coffee table, won’t throw away her trash. The plates just stare at you like “well we’ll just gonna have to live here together then”.
    Then one day I sporadically got some energy and by the end of the three day adventure, my floor said “hi, remember me?”
    I related to this “clean with me” video so much because, well it was deeper than just cleaning up a junky room. It was kind of triggering and also therapeutic.
    Hope you are doing well. It’s very easy for spaces to return like they once were. I hope your room still looks the way it did at the end of this video and if it doesn’t, it’s okay...... press on

    I started to judge but caught myself. This was my first time watching any video of yours and I couldn’t believe the mess and food on the bed, etc. But I told myself there is more to the story and that things happen and I shouldn’t judge people. I was then able to enjoy the video and I saw your reply to a comment that said this was gross and I didn’t know mental health was a factor. I now went from starting to judge to starting to relate. My place was a mess when I first moved in, and It did get worse from shopping, but I never connected it to maybe me having mental health issues that need checking. So thank you for sharing and I hope you forgive me. Looking forward to the next video.

    Best bedroom cleaning video I've seen. Others talk and narrate and the cleaning is like a few light clothes sprinkled on the floor with drawers opened to make it look worse than it actually is. I take my hat off to you for being so real and putting this online coz this is the reality of a messy room. Even if they dont admit it. Room looks great 💖

    Thank you for sharing this! I have major depressive disorder and my bedroom is my nesting spot. I have a severe block about cleaning it because of mental abuse from my ex. I appreciate you being strong enough to allow us to see this I would cringe for someone to see my room. It’s motivating to see you do this please keep sharing your journey.

      Covid has taught us that even those of us that don't have ongoing mental health issues can fall in to sadness, despair, depression etc and at these times we would never want someone to see our severely messy apartments or homes for fear of judgement. It is hard to have friends over when society/commercials dictate one's home must always be spotless.

    If you ever think that cleaning your house is a boring task, timelapsing yourself doing it is SOOOO satisfying. It's so fun to watch afterward!! I did this a couple days ago and i got so much clean!

    When my depression gets in the way of cleaning, I start doing it in steps. One day I set the clock for 5 min and then starts cleaning and stops when the 5 min are done. The next day I set the clock for 10 min. The next 15 min. Whenever I feel the task is to big, I go back a step. So if I did 10 min the day before and I had a shitty day today, I only do 10 min as well instead of 15 min.
    Another cleaning step I do is taking the cleaning in categories. One day I will put away all the cloths. Next day I focus on the dishes and so on.

      Great job!! It went from looking like a Hot Mess to organized. No need to buy expensive storage containers when cardboard boxes work well under the bed. I did not see any clothes hung up in the closet. Just everything put in trash bags. Perhaps you can incorporate that in your future video's. Other than that, Job well done.

    Good for you, I used to be really messy until I was in my early to mid 20’s. I finally realized how much easier and happier life can be when you have a clean and organized space. It’s one less area in your life that can create chaos.

      This!!! Life is so much better when things are organized. My depression made me so unorganized, and the lack of organization made me more depressed. It was a cycle! Now, cleaning up, organizing, throwing stuff, and donating makes things 100% better.

      @@lauram7929 I wasn’t trying to minimize any possible mental health this person is dealing with, and to be fair, you don’t know their mental health status either. I was just saying that for me personally, it’s a vicious cycle. Your space is a mess, so your mind is a mess. You can’t find things, which then makes you late and disorganized. I struggle with anxiety and it gets 10 times worse when my space is in disarray.

    Re: preventing mess from building up. I have a practice I call "seeing the job through". Basically, once you complete an activity you do the cleanup related to that activity to finish the job off. Having a shower? Dirty clothes go straight into the laundry hamper/basket. Eating or drinking something? Take the crockery & cutlery straight to the kitchen after you're finished, wash them up & leave them to drain. Doing hair/makeup? Put away your tools and supplies as soon as you're done. The idea is to build the cleanup necessary after an activity into doing that activity itself so it becomes automatic. Of course you won't always have time or motivation (I catch myself thinking "I'll do it later" or "It's too much trouble"), but the few times you do do it & notice the difference may be enough to help you stick to the cleanup. I feel that undone jobs take on a life of their own, weighing on my mind & making me feel like a failure (my current state re: my garden). But even a little effort & some results make me feel better about myself.

But it doesn't hurt to put it out there. That's something I learned from my own experience with depression and anxiety, and from participating in a mental health support group.

    This gives me so much hope. The state of my room has always depended on my mental state. Even when I was little I had a hard time cleaning up my room. I recently decided to start slowly cleaning it up and see if that helps improve things for me. This has given me the motivation to continue at slowly making my way into having a cleaned up room I can manage once again. Way to go! And for anyone who doesn’t understand this please be kind. If you have never had to experience this than I am very happy for you just know everyone manifests mental health in a different way.

    Girl, you are awesome. When I got the first glimpse of bedroom floor, I cheered.
    I have lived with depression for over 45 years. I frequently measure how bad an episode has been by the amount of time it takes to do a thorough tidy and clean of my house when I start to feel better. As I have gotten older I have learned ways to manage my mental health, but there are occasions when it becomes so overwhelming that nothing works and I just have to ride it out and then do the clean up afterwards.
    Thank you for being so very brave and putting yourself out in the TH-cam world where many people are ready to judge without understanding.

    I just renovated and cleaned old things out of my room. It was sooooo much. I added storage bins and shelves and gave my room a new theme. I’m so happy and I feel so much better emotionally. This is the most organized my room has ever been. Get your home in order, and the rest will follow! Depression is a real thing! 💯❤️

    My room gets bad as well. Whenever my mental health gets bad (which is often as I have mental health issues) my room also gets messy. Something that helps me is to have someone to keep me accountable. So, on sundays my sister and i will both clean our rooms. This way, there’s someone who’s also relying on me to do my room. And so I can’t slack off. I also try not to eat in my room (though I’m not good at not eating in there lol) because old food/drinks give me hella anxiety. Proud of you for getting your space together!! I know it can be really hard

      Also, what often helps is a PLAN! Not just "tidy room", which often overwhelms, but "collect garbage, put everything into categories, store on bed, tidy shelves, place items from bed on shelves, declutter one shelf, put everything still on the bed into boxes (with category labels), declutter shelf and boxes, get rid of everything that has not space in the room or in other storage units (basement, attic etc.). Find sources of untidiness! Do you buy too many things from one category (shoes, books, decorative items)? Take a day a month to declutter these items constantly! Do you really have too little shelf space? Buy another shelf! Do you feel to tired to tidy up after work or school? Find a designated time to tidy every morning or one afternoon/ evening a week. Etc. It is often not lack of willingness, but lack of knowledge about systematic tidying/ cleaning.

    I have depression and my apartment is a wreck as well. My office is almost this bad, the other rooms are more livable. Nothing is company-ready by any means. That's actually why I'm here, I'm attempting to motivate myself to clean.

      Just do it at once, I never motivate myself to clean my messy room but when I tried to clean up any one mess I ended up cleaning the whole room.
      Yes it will be tiring but at least I have a space when I can do painting or doing yoga.

    One thing that really helps me when I get into this mode of being too depressed to clean is that a while ago, I did a purge of my belongings. Anything I wasn’t using, I have to goodwill. And having less stuff has helped me stay in the mindset of putting things away even when I am depressed. Each thing has a place. Then once every quarter, my husband and I take a day to go through our closets, etc. And do a mini purge or what we r no longer using.
    I do realize that there will be days when this doesn’t work. But on the days you feel like you have the motivation, having less to put away does help.

    I have that issue as well and it took my sister to clean up my room. When you have mental health issues that deter you from that “ get up and go “ spirit , it really messes with you. My advice, just stay consistent with the cleanliness that you accomplish. You don’t want to revert to where you was and you want to go to that next step on where you want to be. Look at this video, from time to time , & give yourself a pat on the back because you came a long way ☺️☺️☺️😉...

      @@endtimestruthrevelation1407 hmm i think small stuff like washing ur dish right after ur done or throwing ur trash away in the can or even just sticking stuff back where it goes when ur done is a great place to start ! after that regular clean ups of stuff that didn't get put away like anywhere from every 2 weeks to every other day ! that way it doesn't get nearly as dirty as usual and you dont feel less motivated bc theres so much to do. whatever floats ur boat or whatever is easiest for u :)

    My golden rule is: If you don't need a particular thing for a year, you should throw it away. Otherwise, it will clutter your home. Putting things in boxes and stacking them in a closet doesn't help either. If you put something you will most probably never need again in a closet or even in a box, get rid of it. That's what works for me. The fewer things, the happier a person.

      @@emmajoy4511 Honey not to judge or anything as this is a very personal issue of course, but my grandmas ashes would be the last thing I would want to keep in my house. When my mother and my grandmother died I did a lovely trip to the beach with my husband and let their ashes go in the wind at a lovely sunset there. It was my way of liberating those energies. Their souls where no longer in those ashes...they are certainly in heaven as they were both very good people. So keeping a loved one ashes is just a way to keep conected to their body because the soul is no longer there...and to me that was sad, it reminded me of their passing instead of letting me remember the lifetime that we shared and their love!

    After moving into my house, I never unpacked anything, then it just grew into horribleness- I got depressed and was always home alone due to COVID. I never did any of my school assignments, I just sat on my bed all day and ate food and throw stuff on my floor. It was horrible and every time I tried to clean I always stopped. I’m so proud of you! And I’m glad you finally got to cleaning your room. It’s a big step

    I really appreciate you uploading this video. It popped up in my feed tonight and my room is also this messy (I'm halfway through cleaning it with help) so I decided to watch to see how you do it. I have ADHD, depression, and anxiety, which contributes heavily to why my room is so bad, and when I do clean my room, I usually need my mom to help me with it because it's such a nightmare to face on my own. It's super helpful to see someone else who has similar struggles clean their room by themselves, and I feel like one day I can do it too :)

    I have chronic pain and this hits home. Little "corners" of things start to take over the space. I can barely get on my knees (surgery) or bend down (injury) to do the hard stuff, so I know. The key for me was to get a strong shredder and go thru my receipts every month. Then, I got those command hooks for the walls, better than hammering a nail in the wall, and placed things above me. My closet is busted since the sliding rack is rusted and I can't really fix it, so one side is stuffed while the other side is empty. I do a little at a time and hope for the best, it's really hard. Things like this inspire me. I can only do a day, then take two days off or I'm wiped out stiff in pain. I might take before and after pics on my phone to motivate me. Hang in there!

    I'm glad you stick with it and finish. 1 tip, go through your stuff and git rid of anything you haven't used or worn in the past 6 months. Basically declutter your stuff.

    When my mom was sick and i was the only one taking care of her then she passed and my whole life turned upside down into a depression and stopped keeping my house up even lacking on paying bills i did pull through but it took 2 yrs of my life and now I'm getting things done so yes this is a debilitating disease that could hit anyone so thank u for this
    Also when your going through it u feel all alone so God Bless u for posting this it looks like quite a bit of us can relate

    Amazing transformation! The only thing I would suggest is that you seriously downsize the amount of stuff you have, be ruthless, go through everything, keep only what you need/love - it makes the process of cleaning up SO much faster, and not nearly so overwhelming. Also picking up and cleaning the end of each day is a must!

      Invite a non judgemental friend to help you. Could be a different one each day, until the job is done.. Then invite them to tea once a week as "accountability partners". JMHO

    I’m currently in the process of cleaning my depression room, I called into work sick yesterday because my mental health has gotten quite bad. I go back to work in 2 days. I’m getting my room clean. I’m gonna take a shower tonight then get into my fresh clean sheets and blanket.

I think it’s different for everyone but it’s mostly people feel unmotivated to do anything and just lay in bed overthinking.     God, my room used to look like this constantly until I was about 22. Cleaning it was always so overwhelming. Now I mostly manage to confine it to the kitchen, but going in there can be terrifying if I let it get out of control. Well done, that must have been a task! 🙂

    I did this when a family member was moving to Arizona, and my goodness, it felt so good to have a clean space. Now with my somewhat cleaner space, I'm gonna keep cleaning and organizing, eventually getting to decorating and everything.

      One thing to look forward to......finding things you forgot about, and even knowing where things are again. It took me moving apartments in order to organize, but I love knowing exactly where something is now (versus either NOT knowing....or knowing it is in a general corner of a room!). You can do it. Take baby steps. On day 1 of being overwhelmed, all I organized was my purse! But it was VERY rewarding to be able to find things! So it motivated me to other baby steps. I am sending you "happy-happy-joy-joy" thoughts to help you along!

    I grew up sharing a room with my sister. You could tell which side was mine because it looked like a landfill and her side was neat and organized. It would have been such a help if it had been known about ADD and depression in kids and what the overt signs (incredibly messy living space, chronic disorganization, extreme irritability mixed with withdrawal and social isolation, etc.) were. Instead there was condemnation and pity, shame and actual abuse. You keep doing what you're doing as I see the signs of someone coping the best she can and I support your efforts to share and grow and make friends!

      I am also depressed..but I am the opposite..I freak out if I feel something down to my legs.. I have 5 kids..I always argue with my husband,please vacuum the rooms if I am cooking or doing something else..it was worse when I was young and 1 child, I use to have a routine..vacuum 5 times, cleaning the windows 5 time, wc 5 times per day..but now with 5 children I barely i am doing 2 time's per day the cleaning..sometimes at 2-3 o'clock in the night i feel the need to clean the wc, kitchen..and sometimes I doet, sometimes I am just crying because I just take so many times from the time to spend with my children because I am so tired..but anyways everyone has they on issues in life..

    Thank you for sharing this. I'm finding the motivation to stay up tonight and clean because I just need to get it done. One day at work tired won't be all that bad. In the long run, this will make me happy- and knowing you can do it, helps me know I can do it too. Life has been overwhelming lately, depression has reared it's very ugly head, but I need to be strong to at least do this for myself. Truly- thank you for sharing.

I watched one "how to" video on how to clean a kitchen....then the presenter stated that her house was brand new (less than 6 months old), it was an expensive house, then she showed sweeping a sparkling floor where NO DIRT was seen....and if you listened she said she sweeps like that between the times the maid comes in! WTF?!?

    I hope you’re ok. One thing that helps me is remembering that everything needs to have a place so when you’re not using something always put it back in its place. That means trash, a remote, a book, a cup, a plate etc

    You did a great job! Only tip is spend 10 minutes a day, make your bed quickly pick up and tidy it will make a massive difference and won't be as big a job next time. Be proud of yourself that was hard work its not always easy to know where to start.

    I love this. Been there, done that. It feels refreshing to have a clean room after it being really messy.
    I still struggle to continue to stay clean and organized.
    What I do is, I start with making my bed every morning when I get up. The days that I do that, I find are also the days that I make sure my room is tidy before I go to bed. I don’t always keep up with it, but when I do, my room stays clean and organized.

    My room has literally been like yours at the beginning of the video for 3 years. I've been living in a constant state of paranoia, depression, and I have been suffering with my PTSD. I'm moving out of my mom's soon, so I'm finding motivation from this video. I haven't been able to feel motivated to clean in such a long time. However, I know I absolutely have to get it done eventually.

    Yep I feel this. My depression has been pretty bad the last year following a severe burnout, redundancy and a lot of emotional hits. What doesn't help is having a neat freak mother who loves to just use words like 'lazy' and 'disgusting' to describe me. I'm not lazy and I'm not disgusting. I'm struggling. Shaming people makes things worse not better. Nobody WANTS to live like this. Nobody WANTS to go through an assault course to just get from one side of the room to the other to open a window. I'm grateful that although everything is chaos at least it's clean so i'm not going to make myself sick from breathing in mould or something but god it feels good when it's done cos I do give everything a wipe down every week and i don't eat in here. That's my goal for this week. As for tips - I have a todoist list. I used to have a 'sunday reset' where i'd tick off all the things and that generally keeps me nice and tidy but depression has a way of scuppering those plans and then just letting one week slip suddenly everything gets very overwhelming. So I've also done a 'crisis' project list - so when i get bad like i am now I have all the jobs broken down each day over a week or so. So something as simple as 'put away shoes' gives me such a boost when i can tick that off it motivates me to do more. Living in a shared house i find is good becuase If I lived alone the entire place would be hell but I have too much respect for shared spaces to leave my shit lying around for other people to deal with so it's all in my room.     One tip is no food in your room. Another is to not drop items on the floor, but to put them in their final spot. That way you only pick it up once rather than shifting it several times.

    I've been in this horrible cycle lately of trying to get work done but being so distracted by my messy room and unending list of chores that I try to tackle all of them but I never finish, then I don't get work done so then I try to do work in a dirty environment and nothing ever gets done. This kinda motivates me to just take the whole day, so nothing but cleanup, and then hopefully everything will follow after 💖
