How can I cook Asian meals with less sodium...lover of foods and Heart patient I've learned to leave out salt but low sodium soy, hoisin, rice vinegar etc...has so much sodium...need some ideas.
Once again, your recipe does not disappoint! I have made 8:24 so many of your recipes and they have been on my meals rotation! My Asian side is stronger than my English side and I find myself eating rice almost every day! Asian food is so much more flavorful! Thank you for your recipes! I enjoy your “value” meals recipes which are never disappointing and I look forward to seeing many more! Much love, good wishes and God’s blessings to you and all your family! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Simply excellent! Totally, totally addictive. Tasty, moist, addictive. And wonderfully easy and fast to make. WOW! Am so glad you chose this recipe to feature in your Chinese Homestyle Cookbook photo (Patreon page).
My family loves Taiwanese popcorn chicken!! I do the flouring/cornstarch in a plastic bag and I find it makes it have all the little yummy crispy bits. I'd recommend roasting the bones before freezing. Leave them in the Air Fryer while you eat dinner. Makes the broth so much better. I also throw any other broth ingredients I have in bag-- celery tops, garlic cloves, bay leaves, onion, lemon. Then when I pull the last bottle of broth out of the freezer, I get some broth going in the IP.
There are a lot of videos on making your own cooking spray: one part oil to 5 parts water. Put in a spray bottle and shake each time you use. Hope this helps.
YUM!!!!! That sounded sooooo GOOD when you took a bite and 5 spice, omygoodness, I know it was delicious 😋 Happy Happy Happy 100th❤to you guys, you deserve it!!!!!! God IS GOOD❤
Hah! As a Taiwanese, we love you guys too. Very belated Happy Birthday and Congratulations on 100K. Keep up the good work giving me reasons to convince my wife to let me buy an air fryer .. slowly but surely! btw, not sure if it matters, but I think people pretty much use potato/corn/tapioca starch interchangeably .. sometimes I feel like Chinese cooking is a lot less fussy and more forgiving about condiments/ingredients like that. Again, congrats!
Thanks, Hank! I think you’re right about the starches but I do find the potato does a better job at crisping in the air fryer but have not tried tapioca.
Oh Congratulations on 💯 !! 🎉🍾 and a very Happy Birthday!! 🎂🎈 I am so glad to have found you on YT - a few years ago now. Came for the IP recipes and stayed because you have always had good wholesome content. I look forward to each one, food or faith - it's always good. God Bless! Happy Canadian 🇨🇦 Thanksgiving!!
About the oil sprayer. I get so annoyed with the ones i was getting from trader joes and the long stream and not a very good value so i bought a plain ol little sprayer bottle from the dollar store and it works great! lol! hardly ever clogs and if it does or tries to turn into a stream i just run a little hot water over it and it goes right back into a spray. great value!!!! TRY IT! trust me it really works... love your channel keep em comin.
Yum! I'm not really into skin-on chicken of any sort, but that's me and as you said, omit it. I really have to try a recipe with chicken thighs. I made a recipe quite a while ago that sounded *so* good, but turned out horribly so, that put me off chicken thighs. We actually prefer chicken breasts in my house, but I think this recipe would work better with the thighs. I *must* get brave. LOL I'm sure the chicken tastes as yummy as it looks! 😋Congrats on the TH-cam milestone 🎉🎉
I raised my own turkeys this year for the holidays and cut them up so they could be cooked fresh as wanted and not eaten for days on end. This looks so good I think I wanna cook the breast I had out like that tonight and pull another for traditional tomorrow. That looks like a great way to avoid the egg wash step as well. I hate that step the most. Thanks for that one.
That chicken looks so crispy and delicious. Thanks for the recipe. Congratulations on hitting 100K!! I know this may sound amateur, but have you ever tried using a regular spray bottle for oil? If it clogs, it's easy to fix. Only about 99¢ at Wal-Mart, so it's disposable!! Worth a shot? Have a happy day!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I love your recipes and videos! Can’t wait to try these Taiwanese chicken nuggets. If you’re looking for the EVO sprayer, I recently bought one at Bed Bath and Beyond at Metrotown and it was cheaper than Amazon. However, I find that the EVO sprayer doesn’t really create a mist.
Help, Flo. First thank you for the great recipe. I love the flavors. My challenge was that my chicken came out a little "powdery" under the crust. I used sweet potato powder instead of sweet potato starch, not sure if that had an impact.
Save time and effort, instead of turning chicken pieces to spray, I simply elevate the basket and spray from underneath. This will only work with good sprayer.
Hi Flo! Great video as usual, i always enjoy watching you and dude, he is hilarious, you guys are awesome and blessed also congratulations on your milestone achievement, you deserve it! I do have a question! I’ve been using a (bulk type) Chinese five spice that was giving to me last year in a gift container from another state where I live in the (USA) and now that I am out, I wanna find a good brand, hurry! what you recommend? Lol Thanks in advance and love you guys always!
make your own, it's very simple. 10 min. in mortar and pestle or 2 min. in spice grinder. this recipe makes about 4 tablespoons. Ingredients 5 Star anise 3 inch Cinnamon Stick 3 teaspoon Whole Black Peppercorns 3 teaspoon Cumin seeds 6 Cloves
Idk y but you and your personality are so cute and genuine! ❤️ Doesn't feel rehearsed at all ❤️ I'm gonna save this recipe! Edit: Can I add sugar into the finishing salt mix or would that not taste right? I like things on the sweet side
Tried you recipe yesterday in my cuisinart air fryer. I had the problem of the chicken sticking to the basket. By the time it removed it, it look like the chicken went to the battlefield and back. I did use potato starch and sprayed it with avocado spray. But did I mess up bc i didn’t place it on the air fryer rack? Enjoy your recipes.
Please tell me when you can give me a response for my comment from 2 weeks ago, it would really help me know how I should fix my mistake and make the Popcorn Chicken Better. Thank You.

Hi Flo. It seems from my end that you post on youtube before Patreon. I usually get an email from Patreon a couple days or so after youtube notifys me. So this recipe is not yet on Patreon (10/12/20). Is Patreon just slow with your paosts?
Hi again Flo. It's up. Thanks. It's a great post. I have a single track mind, so I forgot to say so before. Now I can print the recipe. I can try it in our new air fryer, when I can get time from caring from an acre of tropical fruit trees.
Why do people spend money on gimmicks like "air fryers" which are literally the exact same thing as a convection oven, but far, far smaller and far, far more expensive. An air fryer is just a convection oven with a smaller chamber... and a catchier name.
Because connection ovens are huge and expensive and not very common (depending on where you live). I'd rather but a small appliance than replace my oven.
An air fryer is a variant of the convection oven, with a much higher cfm compared to a regular convection oven. If you compare the spec of convection ovens with and without claiming to do air frying, you can see the difference. Also, you can easily find air fryers in the sub $70 range, but you can hardly find any convection ovens with high cfm in the sub $150 price range (speaking of regular price, not holiday sales price). The small size actually fits in better in smaller apartment kitchens. I guess these are the rationales behind people who opt to buy air fryers instead of traditional convection ovens.
