      The Sunfang or Lacelothrai was made by Caledor Dragontamer during the First Chaos Incursion for Aenarion the Defender and burns with the power of the Sun therefore being a fiery sword. If you'd like to know how Tyrion ended up with the chosen blade of the Phoenix King you can do so simply click the link and read to your contentment.

      Sunfang or Lacelothrai in Eltharian was the famed sword created by Caledor Dragontamer during the First Chaos Incursion for Aenarion the Defender. It was later recovered by Prince Tyrion. The blade is four feet long and BURNS WITH THE POWER OF THE SUN. It has enchantments that makes it so that it will never become dull and automatically adjusts to its wielder.

      My vote for Tim is "Tim the Snob Enchanter" lol. There shouldn't be any Skaven in Ulthuan according to the lore. It's a floating island that isn't connected to the rest of the world, so the Skaven can't burrow their way there.

    Tyrion's Sword - Sunfang. It was forged by Caledor (The mage who created the Vortex), with the High Priests of Vaul back during the daemonic invasions, with powerful magics that are no longer remembered in today's history. It burns with the captured fire of the Sun

      Also, it was wielded by Aenarion, Tyrion's ancestor and the first Phoenix King. Malekith (probably) burns with envy when he sees Tyrion with it.

    Lord Teclis,
    As you feared, events in the world outside have overtaken Ulthuan and the druchii have for the first time in a thousand years landed in force upon our shores.
    Lord Tyrion, whom I have positioned myself near as his squire, has finally begun to counterattack after his position was surrounded during his distraction with court intrigues and through the base treachery of our dark cousins.
    Unfortunately many of the other Lords of the Ten Kingdoms have apparently tired of your brother's arrogance, or perhaps are seeing if King Finubar's trust in your brother is well-placed. I suspect Erethond of Caledor has designs placing his son as the next Phoenix King himself, though Prince Tyrion claims he's always simply been "an inflexible, crotchety boor".
    Forgive me, they are your brother's words, not mine.
    Though surrounded and seemingly without direct support, Tyrion seems completely unconcerned with the situation, claiming that he can fight the druchii off by himself if need be. Immediately I followed as he mustered a meager but effective force to take the Tower of Lysean to the north, striking first at the weakest of the druchii positions in the province. The druuchi raiding party was crushed within minutes there.
    I've observed that the druchii attack seems a focused, directed thing. They aren't simply interested in murder or foolishly attempting to conquer our home, but seem highly interested in magical artifacts, especially scrolls of knowledge. It's possible that they too have noticed the Great Vortex's disruption and seek to manipulate this somehow. At first their intentions remained a mystery to your brother before I pointed out the absence of scrolls in the recaptured Tower of Lysean; as I said my lord, your brother is something of a straight-line thinker, and likely simply assumed they were attacking with intention on invasion.
    After moving south we assaulted the Glittering Tower where the invaders first made landfall in Ulthuan.
    We began the attack with long-range bombardment, picking away at the druuchi as they approached, before meeting their charge with a greater one of our own, Tyrion leading at the fore.
    He charged alone (and against my advice) straight through their lines to engage the enemy leader. I shouldn't have worried; the greater numbers of our traitorous cousins in between him and his chosen quarry merely meant more of them died before he reached his foe. I feared for his life when the Dreadlord fled from their duel and he was surrounded by spearmen but he shattered them like glass practically by himself and resumed his chase of his foe, crying out oaths of challenge that could be heard across the battlefield. Arrows of our own men fell down around him (on his own command, my Lord, I could not refuse) but he received no harm and single-handedly slew their leader, reclaiming the Glittering Towers in a single act of valor.
    Your brother may have several faults (hot-headedness, impetuosity, vainglorious behavior, and perhaps a lack of subtly among them), but in war he is practically Aenerion reborn.
    After recapturing the territory around Lothern, he insisted we immediately chase down the next group of invaders, but I advised (cautiously and in such a way as to make it seem it was his own idea, as you suggested) that we spend some time engaging in diplomacy with Gigalion of Ellyrion, to gain more political allies and to let them know there was no hard-felt feelings over them not immediately supporting our assault on the druchii over protecting their own lands. Tyrion clarified (vocally and at length) that there WERE such feelings, but I managed to convince him of the wisdom of the act.
    He...ah...sent them a bribe, more or less. As I said, your brother isn't particularly subtle. Thankfully Gigalion seemed pleased by this, so his bluntness did no harm. Perhaps it even did more good then not, as Valin of Chrace immediately gifted us with a payment. I suspect he desires to engage the druchii in battle himself, as his folk have always hated our cousins.
    After a month of resupplying and mustering more militia we scouted through the Straight of Lothern to see what the druchii at Angerrial were up to, only to discover the bulk of their southern forces. Along the way we found an old shrine to Mathlann that had been neglected, which Tyrion prayed to for aid of the gods.
    Unfortunately his scouting proved ill-advised they hit us upon the Sea of Dreams after leaving the shrine. The battle was a bitter one and though eventually we drove them off they had learned their lesson at Glittering Towers and mostly attacked from afar. We lost half our forces to them, though Prince Tyrion was thankfully both unhurt and livid.
    Politics began to shift under our feet with his loss, Yvresse wanted to become closer allies (likely as a result of the druchii banging on their front door), but Shakkar, perhaps sensing weakness, broke all ties of diplomacy. This did nothing to improve your brother's mood, predictably.
    He was actually remarkably enthusiastic when he had found that a rebellious Prince, Solkan, had raised his own force to overthrow Tyrion's control over the region (under the pretext of your brother's more reckless actions I believe). I do believe Prince Tyrion was simply glad that there was a problem he could solve simply by hitting it. We promptly smacked down the rebellion like unruly children, taking most prisoner, including their traitorous leader. And none too soon, for it seemed that the druchii were emboldened by their earlier victory and sent forces both to retake Lysean and the Glittering Towers.
    Once again we met them in battle on the edge of the Straights of Lothern. After their light cavalry charge broke against our spears, Tyrion, reckless as ever, ordered a full charge against them rather then fight defensively for any longer. I assume beating the rebels had not blunted his wrath by any measure. Once again he engaged their Dreadlord and once again he slew him handily. This time I was ready for your brother's reckless charge and had prepared beforehand, thankfully. Once their leader had fallen, the rest folded as well.
    After returning to the Glittering Towers, we heard word that Lysea was once again under assault, for it seems our dark cousins can do nothing with honesty and attacked while our main force was engaged. To my surprise the Princess left in command of the token force there managed to fight them off, which was odd as she always struck me as rather slovenly.
    Prince Tyrion is currently recovering his troops while reading disturbing reports of more druchii on the northern coasts, as well as (surprisingly) human pirates. I will try to confirm myself.
    I shall continue to aid and observe him and sending you enclosed and regular reports, Lord Teclis.

      I have a question, I used Lizardmen and battled Tyrion, I wiped out all of his army, but him.
      I've got half of my army left, 2 beasts, 2 lords, more than 10 groups of temple guards in half soldiers, all of them are tire 7 or 8, and I attack him with all.
      It took me almost 10 minutes to kill him, I lost both of my lords, almost every soldiers, two beasts were empty in HP if not for me to retrieve them they will die soon
      During the battle he constantly cast a red tornado which swiped my army and cause massive damage. I couldn't do anything but witness my soldiers die cause I have to kill him to win.
      Is this a Bug? How could one single lord be so powerful? This is tedious. I've got so frustrated.
      When I found out I didn't kill him but just wound him I quit this game imediatly

      @@marcoswang5034 Sounds like Tyrion had the Sword of Khaine, thats what gives him the 'red tornado' ability. When he goes into a wounded state, he loses that weapon, so unless he goes and gets it again, he will be easier next time you fight him. Critique Report: You Shall Not Pass, The Campaign
    - Praise:
    -- Forging early ties and alliances with a couple other High Elven factions. Hopefully you can get the confederation steam-roll going in not too long and it puts a wall of allied elves between you and Naggaroth.
    -- The Siege Of The Tower Of Lysean
    -> Massacring the enemy with ranged superiority and saving you melee troops from taking unnecessary casualties.
    -- The Siege Of Glittering Tower
    -> Intercepting the enemy before they could charge your archer line.
    -> Phoenix bombing runs and rear attack.
    -- The Battle Of Glittering Tower
    -> Targetting the cavalry.
    -> Phoenix bomb spam.
    -- Quick lord recruitment to fend off the invasion.
    -- The Defence Of The Tower Of Lysean
    -> Reaver vanguard to hit their crossbows straight away.
    -> Targetting the lord with yours.
    - Mistakes:
    -- The Siege Of Glittering Tower
    -> Sending a spear unit chasing after corsairs for ages.
    -- Getting caught at sea. That was a lucky escape.
    -- The Battle Of Glittering Tower
    -> Sending spears after ranged units who can outrun them again.
    -- The Defence Of The Tower Of Lysean
    -> Leaving the cavalry in for too long.
    - Suggested Actions:
    -- Capitalise on your advantage to eliminate the Cult of Excess. Then turn your attention to an invasion of Naggaroth - it's i your best interests to try and wipe out both major Dark Elf factions asap, plus it'll drive up your relations with the other High Elf factions, which should let you get some confederations.
    - Other Comments:
    -- Tyrion's sword is Sunfang, a magical weapon created by Caledor Dragontamer (creator of the vortex) to slauhgter daemons and burns with the fire of the very sun itself.
    Overall: Decent

    The no sword unit is a part of high elf lore in a way. All citizens are required to be part of citizen levies for part of their lives. As a spear is easier to master than the sword (even with their elven lifespans) they train them all with spears. High elf archers are also a product of these levies.

    • @Katarian80
      @Katarian80 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No sword unit has been part of High Elf roster since 5th edition. There were Elven Warriors, basically swordsmen, in 4th and earlier editions. High Elves learn to use a bow and sword when they first start in the militia, they then progress to learning to use a spear after a decade or so of combat. It makes a lot more sense not having any swords in the table top as a spear as a weapon choice was a straight upgrade over a sword until 8th edition.

    • @vagrant2502
      @vagrant2502 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with spears is they work differently in total war than in the warhammer tabletop game. dark elves only got a sword unit in 8th edition, otherwise they never had them before.

    • @Katarian80
      @Katarian80 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      vagrant2502 That isn't quite right. Dark Ark Corsairs have been a part of their roster since at least 4th edition and a core option since the Core/Special/Rare rules were introduced. Even if you ignore them there were Dark Elf Warriors with just swords in 4th edition (technically 5th edition as well as they didn't get a new army book in that edition), it wasn't until 6th edition that Dark Elf Warriors had to be equipped with spears.

    • @vagrant2502
      @vagrant2502 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, i stand corrected. Guess its been a while since the earlier editions.

    • @fendelphi
      @fendelphi 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even if their main weapon is the spear, in TT, they also have "hand weapon", which is typically a sword(you see them on unit commanders).
      In fact, in 6th edition, the front row of spearmen could use their "hand weapon" +shields to get an extra bonus to their armor save in close combat(a 4+ total in melee, 5+ ranged).
      The way spears work in TT and here is quite different though. Spears allowed multiple models to fight. In TW:W, it gives you anti large.
      It is not a bad change, but it is a shift in focus.

That white lion lord is a unique lord choice that Tyrion gets to make sure to nab him as soon as possible 3. The sword burns with the power of the sun, its also the sword that Aenarion used, much like Tyrions armour was once Aenarions, the sword is really good at destroying deamons 4. maybe get some lothern seaguard? Tyrion's sword Sunfang was made by Caledor Dragontamer (the same guy who made the Vortex) for Aenarion, who was one of the greatest elves who ever lived and is also Malekith's father. Tyrion and Teclis are also descendants of Aenarion and it's implied that Tyrion is essentially Aenarion reborn.
    Caledor was (is?) considered to be one of the greatest mages in the Warhammer universe. He bound a fire elemental from Vaul's Anvil (the volcano-settlement to the south-west of Lothern). That's why Sunfang allows Tyrion to do a fire breath attack in the game and is on fire. Vaul's Anvil is also a ritual site in the game btw.

    Literally as you were using all your influence to improve relations with Ellyrion I was screaming NO! at the monitor. I had kind of guessed what was going to happen as soon as I read about the influence mechanic that you need to save it up for Lords and Heroes and only use it for diplomacy when you have a nice big pool available. Making the 0 influence lords and heroes always have a negative trait just makes things worse.
    Just in case you haven't realised yet the High Elves and the High Elves alone have the high/low public order bonus/penalty system from earlier Total War games. Look at the province effects in the bottom left and you can see it. CA have barely mentioned this and the game never bothers to tell you about that mechanic as far as I can tell from watching various TH-camrs.

There is no access to the continent by the underway that the Skaven use to travel all over the world so don't expect any Skaven in any ruins. Just letting you know cause I got slightly triggered when you said if you wondered if they were Skaven on the very Shrine of Asuryan that burnt Malekith. XD. Love your videos.

    Sunfang, Tyrion's magical sword, was originally forged by Caledor Dragontamer when Chaos flooded the world. He crafted it using divine-tier crafting equipment, the Hammer and Anvil of Vaul, and he forged Sunfang in a volcano of Caledor (the location), binding a magma elemental into it. That's why it is on fire.

    My toughts on the INFLUENCE mechanic:
    I really liked the idea of porting some mechanics that would make the High Elfs a more interesting faction to play. Something in the lines of making INFLUENCE like a global resource system, similar to what FOOD is for the Skaven. My basic idea would be to separate the ways you could use it into basically:
    -Spending it to adquire new Lords, Heroes, Units;
    -Spending it on buildings that would enable better Edicts (porting the Geomantic Web mechanic) and other bonuses, altering how influencial your faction is on that region;
    -Stockpiling it to enact better global bonuses;
    Going to war agaist another HE faction would take away a big chunk of INFLUENCE, and going on negative could mean having massive global penalties to Public Order, Diplomatic Relations with other HE factions, less income to buildings, less casuality replenishment and more upkeep costs.
    Positive INFLUENCE could give some "passive" global bonuses that would vary (0 to 50 tier 1 bonuses, 51 to 100 tier 2 bonuses and so on) and the ways that you can spend it could use a nice rework as well, like a separate recruitment pool (using the RoR sistem) of units that cost influence and could mean the diference between victory and defeat(maybe just regular units or better ones). Also the actual uses for INFLUENCE seem a bit underdeveloped for me, instead of making the recruitment of INFLULord and INFLUHeroes something unique and special, the actual game state forces you to just recruit these kind of agents and commanders. (it could be simply fixed by making the regular lords not ridiculously weaklings) Another use of it could be better edicts, by maybe moding and porting the geomantic web sistem that the lizardman use? Like: You could be tier 0 influencial in these region and by spending INFLUENCE (amber and chiv like) you could rank it up.

Shadow Warriors, who are edgelord vengeance driven skirmishers, or Sisters of Avelorn, who are priestess-archers with magical energy bows (almost like light saber bows, their TT models are awesome).

    I would go for the Delf HQ now, rather than later. You have just smashed both of their armies, and giving them extra time will only make it more difficult.
    Another thing that I have noticed is that you have a tendency to move your army up despite having missile range superiority, which often costs you the first volley or two. If you have the ability to outrange your enemy, and don't need to rush them, then find a good spot and set up camp. If they don't come for you, then move forward in increments until your long-range artillery can get the first shots off. After that, the AI usually rushes forward.
    P.S. Could you turn the helper voice off already? I don't feel like he is contributing anything, so much as he is being a distraction.

    With Elves, especially High Elves it's better to put your shields in front and archers behind as the shields will soak up the incoming fire and leave your archers untouched while they fire away. That tiny bit of range isn't worth the casualties in the time it takes for the spearmen to advance. In the older editions of Fantasy Dark Elves had City Guard which were literally units of half spearmen half crossbowmen that the spears would be the first two ranks and the crossbows were the second two. The spearman shields take the hits and offer up melee while the shooty elves stay at the back and... shoot.

    Yeah, I haven't found much need for the Relations use of Influence. I don't know if that's because I make *heavy* use of diplomacy (I check it in depth every turn, form treaties in advance to build relations even if I need to pay them or otherwise make concessions to get the treaties, ect...) and as such I don't need to use it for that as much or if it's because I love the high Influence cost Lords/Heroes and can't bring myself to spend Influence on Relations when I could spend it on an amazing Lord... And at 60 Influence each, those Lords don't come cheap.

    Since the high elf archers have such good range and their core infantry are spearman might I suggest focusing on perhaps drawing the enemy to you most of the time. So for example have your spears out in front to absorb charges while your archers and artillery pieces fire from behind, meanwhile using beasts like the phoenix to eliminate the treat from enemy artillery pieces and archers.

    Tyrion's sword is not actually on fire, it is 'ablaze' with the sun's light and its heat when felt by enemies feels like fire. His sword is also thus called 'Sunfang'. The heat emitted by it helps tyrion quite a bit in his duels. Also, call this a bogus reason because I don't know if it's true, but I think tyrion might have lit it on fire because maybe he would like to burn the witch king again when they inevitably meet in single combat.

    I think it is a High Elf gimmick from the Tabletop game, that most of your Lords will suck golfballs through gardenhoses unless Influence is spent to recruit the proper ones, as Lorewise the HE were political animals, and that stretched to Battlefield commands as well, meaning that overall command of an army could often be given to Less suitable Nobles, simply because they had schemed their way to it. (In the Wargame, it had the effect that you had to randomice which character was your General (That gave various buffs to your army (Which you would normally want someone who gave the best buffs to do)))
    Fun part was the exception.
    If they were fighting the Druchii, they knew what was at stake, so they got their shit together and let the best man (elf?) lead.
    Or if Tyrion was present. Then everyone else backed down. (Yes, even the Phoenix King, for the brief moment he had rules)

    Tyrion, along with his brother Teclis, were born as twin sons to the scholarly Prince Arathion, a distant descendant to Phoenix King Aenarion himself. Ever since Princess Alysia, the twin's mother died during childbirth, much of their lives were spent within a secluded manor within Ulthuan's remote backcountry. His father, having spent most of his life and fortune trying to repair the ancient Armor of Aenarion, did little to teach or raise the boys himself. Instead, the elderly Thornberry put it upon herself to take care of the rash and energetic Tyrion, and the frail and sickly Teclis. This all changed the day the twins came of age and was required to be presented to the current Phoenix King.
    With heavy hearts, their father, who never truly spent as much time as he would with his sons, nevertheless showed great sorrow in his eyes when he saw them go. With the aid of Lady Malene, their aunt and Korhien Ironglaive, a White Lion bodyguard, the twins were safely escorted towards the capital city of Lothern. From there, the twins began to learn their respective arts, and in a pivotal moment, the twins came face to face with N'Kari, the Slaaneshi Greater Daemonhood who led the Rape of Ulthuan all those years ago. Upon the great Temple of Asuryan, the twins would've met their death by the hands of this Daemon, but the God Asuryan came to their aid, banishing the daemon from the mortal plane once more. In that moment, all saw that from day on, the twins were marked by the hands of destiny.
    In the intervening years following their encounter with N'Kari, the twins went on a quest to recieved the famed sword Sunfang from the ruins of an old Lizardmen temple. With the aid of a few Skeggi Norsemen, the twins entered the ruined city and upon the central temple, the expedition fought hard against the serpent guardian which guards a massive hoard of treasure. With its death, the twins retrieved the great sword and returned home to Ulthuan. Yet as they arrived upon those distant shores, they never truly comprehend the great event which unfolded in the days to come.
