Tourettes camp offers kids a place to be themselves

- YMCA Camp Duncan, 32405 North Hwy. 12, Ingleside, Ill. offers kids with Tourettes Syndrome a place where they can be themselves without having to explain their disorder.
My son had Tourettes since 6 years old, both severe vocal and motion tics. Now he is 19, he was accepted by University of Chicago with 2370 SAT score last year and getting all As at Uof C. He is also volunteer at Tourette camp at Chcago every summer. He still has tics but he lives with them. Do not give up, God closes one door and open another door for you.

i have tics so i know how hard it can be...i'm afraid of starting conversations with people because they ask me ''why do i do that''? doesn't it annoy u to, huh?? i'm a very shy person so starting a conversation is VERY VERY VERY hard for me, and on top of that i have this thing that sucks!!! so like it's too hard to start a conversation...I just never start one, it's MUCH EASIER!!!!!
This is too cool. A nice haven to go to when you don't really want to stand out for the wrong reasons. Aw yeah. Kudos to the creators of this camp.

I go to this camp, it's the best week of the year.

Hi my name is Joey Robrahn and I have had suvier Tourette's scence age 7 it has been hard. You can't ever give up though no matter how much you get laughed at. Hey you should go to this Tourette's camp In georgia called Camp Twitch and Shout it is a one week over night stay in Atlanta Georgia it is so much fun. They have Rock climbing, kayaking, high ropes, zip lining, a pool with a water slide and more but it is also connected to camp twin lakes omg any body with Tourette's should go I hope to
I think its great that they can just be themselves, I don't have Tourettes but I know people with it and I hate that my friend is always stared at, it really bothers me because hes the same as anyone else. I say let one live and treat everyone else as if we are all the same, because even though we act and look different it doesn't mean that we are different, we all have a heart, why not use it. = D
They don't have these occasions for us anymore, ): (
Just to further spread the truth:
I have tourettes, these cases are 1 in 10.
as in, other people don't even notice my tourettes , but for these kids it is very noticeable and very embarrassing.
