In another video you spoke about new dog harnesses. Im just curious if you have been able to use them much and if so how confident are you that they they will holdup? I want to take my 100 pound dog on a 200 mile backpacking trip.
Good morning! I haven't had the Säker Canyon Light packs out on a significant trip yet (we've been delayed this season), but I do like them so far. The saddle bags are just pretty small. I need to do a test to see exactly how much of our food each bag will hold. If you're interested, I've written a few blog posts about the packs we've used over the years (I've had the blog a little longer than the YT channel). Here are my posts about pack systems, and I touch on the Ruffwear Front Range in the Mountainsmith post: Säker Canyon Light: lovedogs.substack.com/p/initial-thoughts-saker-canine-canyon Säker Ascension: lovedogs.substack.com/p/review-saker-canine-ascension-dog Mountainsmith K9: lovedogs.substack.com/p/the-mountainsmith-k9-pack Hope that helps a little bit.
Sorry, just re-reading your comment and noting that you want info about the harnesses and not necessarily the packs. I think there are really two classes of harnesses out there right now: one that's more "tactical" and one that's more for the everyday outdoor enthusiast. Ray Allen is a high quality, proven, harness for police and military K9 dogs (large, powerful dogs), but those harnesses are expensive (and their saddle bags are also small). What I like about Säker is that it seems like they may be trying to bridge the gap a little between "tactical" and "outdoor enthusiast." Right now, Ray Allen and Säker are my top two chosen brands for heavy backcountry use. Of course, it's very personal to each person and each dog. We are pretty tough on gear. :)
@@lovedogsontheloose I will checkout your blog shortly. Thank you so much for your help and detailed answer. My dog is a malamute and he likes to eat so in general the larger the pack the better. Thank you again for your help.
I would just tape the label to the unit and send it back that way without the box
@@egochecker Ha! Might’ve been safer. Who knows.
