    as a Californian from san diego who has fam and friends from LA.. my best advice is if you wanna step up to the majors, welcome to LA. LA is an open liberal town. but also a fast pace town. You also have to hustle and be 5-10x ahead of your money, bills and plans! you're competing against alot of people for 1 job. it's like they say.. it's hard to move in to the big leagues but it's harder to even stay in there. if you're the type that likes calm conservative and peace.. come live next door to LA, San Diego. :) God bless you all and happy Sunday.

    Not everyone is works in the "business" here.... My family have lived her for generations and none of them worked in entertainment. Accountants, delivery drivers, doctor's offices managers, real estate agents, etc. That's such a generalization of this truly diverse city....

    • @joesdaily
      @joesdaily  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Ashleigh Ayala But generalizations are fun! JK I know this, but you sorta made my point. You are FROM there, and I was mostly commenting on transplants, which make up quite a bit of the city. You can't deny that most people that travel to LA aren't looking to make it in the "biz" in some shape or form.

    • @Ashleigha
      @Ashleigha 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Joe's Daily No, I agree with you on that. I find it admirable that people pick up and move their entire lives, chasing their dreams. I'm too much a creature of comfort to be that brave. Good on ya'll! But if transplants only stick to certain parts of LA (hollywood, weho, sherman oaks), they will probably only end up meeting other "biz" people. But go to a random dive bar, book store, or just a different part of town and you will meet a shit ton of different people with different backrounds. My advice for transplants is explore! You'll be surprised what/who you may find. Thanks for the reply Joe and keep up the good work! :)

    "It's weather you don't want to go out in". If I move there I'll be coming from Scotland so I think almost everyday will be a nice day. Try doing a mile paper round in the snow then walking to school. It's even worse when it's bucketing for two or three days straight. Try the completely unpredictable weathere. In one week we might have 20°c (about 70°f) on Monday then on Wednesday it could be 8°c (probably 60°f I think) and the up to 15°c (I think it's 65°f) on Friday. It sucks

    Great video man all true points! We’re from NY and the issue you called entitlement is here too, and it can be a positive in some ways too! It’s kind of nice that people are aggressive and fast moving because I’ve lived in states where people move slow with no sense of urgency or purpose and it’s maddening. I’d rather have a little aggression than passive or overly polite and mostly fake-kindness like I’m living on the Disney Channel. So I look forward to being in a familiar place when we move :) haha it’s nice to be around people who are real and alive! Big cities always have that atmosphere. Ya either love it or hate it!

    I was born and raised in LA and still live here, summers are scorching HOT! July, August, and September can be waaaaay over 100 degrees. Traffic is only bad if you are going to LA from the east in the morning. I live near Pasadena and going away from LA in the morning is wonderful!!! In the evening, going to LA from the east is soooo easy. It just depends on where you live and where you are going. NOT as bad after you leave the west side. I was a teacher and my late fiancé was an attorney, we were NOT in the business. Most people aren't.

Was there once in the summer where it barely reached 70 and needed a jacket by night while the rest of the country was in the 80s. Was there in the fall once and it rained 3 days straight. You all do have spurts where it is not what it should be.

    I'm an LA native I don't mind people moving here just don't be racist. Also don't pay ridiculous prices for homes & outbid each other for a stupid house. That causes other house prices to rise to a ridiculous price and moves out some of the people who are actually from there. If you're going to move into a community you need to provide something for that community as well.

    I was born, raised, and have lived my whole life in L.A.
    What you say about "making plans depending on what time it is", has always been the thing my whole life. If you want to go out, you don't ask yourself or the other person what they're wearing, or what they want to eat, etc. NO.......you ask "what time is it right now?" or "what time should we be there?", because you have to plan every single thing around traffic. You're around Brentwood? Nice area.........I'm over in Westwood Village. Nice vid.

    Imo, summer is the worst time. It's too hot. But I was pretty much born here. Been jaded to alot of things including seeing stars. I lived in Chicago and got use to the cold weather. I love the winters here. Not too cold, not too hot. As for traffic, while west siders are mostly assed out(with exception of the expo line extention), people living more in the east and around the crntral part of the city canuse the metro.

    The weather is the only reason I want to move there from New York...where it's gross for like 6 months. The "what do you do" thing is also pretty much how we talk here, too. And I've read that the prices are even better, as far as housing goes. Or, essentially the same number-wise, but there's more space there. I want weather and space and a beach. That's it. I mostly work from home, so as long as there's a grocery store and laundry available, it sounds pretty fantastic. Most importantly, how does the air smell?

    1 bedroom apt anywhere in southern california start at $1,500( usually in places that are far from l.a.) and go up . The closer to the beach you are.... the more it goes up... Traffic is really bad....7 days a week and from 5am till 9pm . The only time freeways are clear is from 9pm till 5am. Gas is the most expensive in all the nation. The registration for your plates are the highest in the nation. Plus you need to get your car smogged every 2 years ....wether its gas or diesel. Parking is also hard to find .

    Live your dream - only if you have the budget to do so. Northern and Southern California are expensive. I grew up in south county near Dana Point. Lived in Anaheim, Costa Mesa, north Hollywood as well. Morning traffic rush and after 4pm traffic is bad. Going out to eat to a popular dining restaurant? you better have a reservation..
    Getting a place to yourself? You better not have a pet and rent a studio. Studios usually
    Run 1200-1400 per month. One bedrooms between 1500-2000. Two bedrooms are about 2200- 3000 on average in Orange County. Los Angeles, some sketchy places to live but prepare yourself with a commune of apartment dwellers and parking spot hunting if you don’t have assigned parking. If you have the money, might as well get a condo to buy and save your money and time. Getting jobs are a different subject because everyone has different choices of what they do for work. Most of the people that do well are high level medical and technology workers. Top tiers are doctors, lawyers and business owners. Lower tiers are hospitality workers, interns, restaurant industry workers. Yes, I label them as tiers because that really is how the label is back in Orange County and north county.
    San Diego is different . Kind of it’s own society. I liked it but not my 1st choice.
    California is great for food and lots to explore. Just have a good balance from work and keep a positive mind because it’s really fast paced in Cali. And never room with a gf or bf just because you can afford rent. Do it because you love living with that person.

    Hi I live in Chicago, and traffic is the same, if you want to go any place plan your day traffic is every where. If you are in the city its construction all summer long. Difficult to park in the city and very expensive too. From November to March very cold a lots of cloudy days and spring sometimes is gone because feel like winter. If snow bad you can park and many streets because you will get a parking ticket if snow is 2" hahaha I can continue complaining

    I don’t like my life in California. I live with my grandparents, have a job that pays me very little that is close to where i stay. Bills come every month regardless of whether i have the money or not. Dont really go out much because I am very conservative. I like investing my money in creative projects. Lots of family here but noone really sees eachother unless its a major holiday. Being that i stay with my grandparents i feel i cant be myself because I am subjected to their permission when it comes to doing projects at their house( remodels, Hardscaping) i have considered moving out but i see renting as a wasting of money. My only escape from the rat race is going to the gym and doing all the chores around my grandparents house. Which is never ending my granpa has cars in The back and is always “fixing” and moving stuff around. Ive been living in California for a number of years but have stayed and worked in other parts of the country and I feel that California is not for me. I would like to own a house i can develop, operate a small business with out having to compete so much with other companies and have work where i dont have to worry about staying in traffic for X amount of time. Also would not mind less people.

    Why did this video get suggested to me a year and a half AFTER moving to L.A?
    I'm loving it here, though. Got an apartment in Burbank, Work in NoHo, so my experience is so different. I haven't had to get on that awful 405 since moving here, I don't party, go to night clubs or bars, so I'm not really exposed to all those self important, fake people so many complain about. I work, I go to Disneyland and Universal Studios, annnnd... that's about it. I mean, you know, gotta' mix it up a little and go to Griffith Park and the L.A. Zoo, sometimes. Or Long Beach, with Aquarium of the Pacific then go have a cocktail on the Queen Mary. Exposition park is really nice to spend a leisurely day if you like science and history. My only problem is making friends here! Just like Ginny McQueen said. But it's not because of the type of people, but because of schedules and locations. I keep meeting cool people who live in kind of inconvenient areas to where I am; it's hard to just meet up with someone after work when they live in Torrance and I'm in Burbank!

There's an energy in Los Angeles I find very intoxicating (just like NYC - my favorite place on the East Coast). The OC is nice and the traffic isn't as bad but it's b-o-r-I-n-g. No night life and very suburban. And I agree with you about the June Gloom - it's not weather I like going out in either.

    Been in LA since 2008 previously Paris, Fr and Newport Beach, California. Granted it’s an older vid and it depends what people like or not. Personally, I despise temps where it’s gross with a tshirt on. July-mid Oct is just that. Sun damage is also bery real, and temps at the beaches are now a muggy and humid near 100F, which is a bit much when you are taking public transit which has improved a bit (expo line fm DTLA to the beach). There’s always a crapload of stuff to do, but be prepared to pay $150 for nosebleed tickets to Metallica plus fees plus gas plus food per person. Oct/November is a decent time if you’re less about the beach. Beaches are also hit or miss. NEVER swim by the Santa Monica pier or Venice, it’s filthy. You can usually tell cleaner water by it being colder.
