Also I have a big question for you not sure if you have covered this already in past posts but it’s one that I’ve been thinking of for awhile now, Ok so my question for today is what’s the importance of moving your whole body verses just your hands/arms ? I know as I get involved in turning I’ll find myself no longer moving my body I try to follow the examples of those who I talk to and watch the videos of.
I do not want to start off with super bad habits and so I figured it’s time for me to have an understanding of why you use the movement of the body when it does not feel natural to me ? Thank you kindly for you time and continued videos

Hi Robert, the following reply is from Colwin - "This has to be a natural movement and not thought about too much. If you do it automatically then that's fine but don't think you have to just because you've seen someone else do it. Don't worry, it's not a bad habit if you just use your hands, all I would say is don't be afraid to move if you find your body getting in the way."

I've been wanting one of these spiralling chucks for a while now and almost bought one, until I discovered that it wouldn't fit my record power chuck/jaws. Seems the only way I could proceed would be to purchase an Axminster chuck and the 'C' jaws to enable me to proceed, which would be rather expensive!

Colwin whilst I enjoy what you do I find the equipment very very expensive would it be possible for Axminster to produce a poor mans range. Every time I look the price of any wood turning good, be it blanks or tooling my pension says NO, then you do a project like the trees and the exuipment would take me years to save for

Fairly new to turning, so the answer may be simple, or just simply a no, but is it possible to do an offset turning like this without that chuck, (or attachment…as I said, fairly new….) and if there is a way how do you go about it? Or is there a video I can be directed to which will answer my question and help me out? Thanks

Hi Christopher, the following reply is from Colwin - "Yes, there are many ways to turn offset without a chuck and by just offsetting the tailstock position , this video should help -
