Just wanted to say huge thank you for explaining this so clearly. Have just made a skirt with 6 panels from a pair of old men's suit trousers from a charity shop - really pleased with the result and it only cost £2.50!! Wish I could get regular pattern cutting lessons from you x
Many thanks for this excellent instruction! I was asked to make one of these for my fourth grade granddaughter--there were no patterns for anything close to her size. It turned out great and she wore it today for a school program (Living Wax Museum: her character was a 1910 era Missourian. It turned out better than I could have hoped. One thing I learned from a friend was to get a long zipper (12-inch for the skirt I made), which helped it fit perfectly. Thanks, again!
The whole video was super helpful, but that explanation about angling the corners of the hem made my eyes widen, and I actually said out loud, “Oh yeah!” 😂 It makes perfect sense, but I definitely needed to see it and be told to do it! Thanks for the great explanation-I feel totally prepared to do this after watching you.
If you don't mind, I have watched this vid about 5 times and I'm trying to understand the measurements, but you explained it too fast. Would you be willing to share where you got your information sheet from so that I will completely understand the measurements, and how to figure out how much fabric to purchase. I'm trying to make this skirt by this Sunday the 25th. I guess I'm just not use to your accent and fast talking.
Good morning, You want to measure your waist and hips and add the amount of ease you want . ex. 2" take the waist ex. 28" + 2" = 30 take that measurement and div. by( 6)= 5 div. 6 = 0.8 this amount you add to either side at the waist for your Six gore skirt. do the same for the hips, I hope this helps. I make up my own instructions, this was not from a book.
Thank you for sharing this video, you made it so easy to follow

Gonna try to follow this over the weekend. Really clear on what I need to do. Thank you!
Best tutorial I have seen - clear and concise instruction. Great explanation for why each measurement was made. Many thanks and hi from Ireland 👋

This video was SOOOOO easy to follow. Thank you so much. Love it, love it, love it.
Always informative !! Thank you :)
The reason I angled the hem 1/4 " so that the hem will hang straight and not have points going down at the joined seams. I hope this helps.
