ElectricBikeReview.com :( Yeah I’ve reached out to them too and they offered me the same solution with nothing additional to solve this problem. I’ve literally disconnected and connected every single line 3-4 times since it started. My solution was not riding it which really bummed me out. The real problem is if I’m riding at night and I’m pretty rural where I live with not many street lights so, going down a hill with suddenly the lights going out coupled with a dead motor trying to fumble with controls in order to try to turn it back on while wearing heavy gloves is like a total horror show. Add any traffic for extra anxiety. Which is maybe the only maybe pattern I’ve detected. It seems like it only happens when I am barely peddling or not at all. Thanks for trying anyway. I just wanted to share my misery to give others a heads up
When I bought my Radmini it came with racks front and rear but I guess just for the first year introduction for $1500. I now have 2000 miles and with no problems other than replacing the brake pads they were not worn out yet.
I have last years model Mini Step Thru and love it. I think the main differences are the tire width and tread, plus the included fenders on this years model. As far as tires go, I think I prefer what came on mine. They are a bit wider, and have that sort of slick tread pattern. Knobby tires make more noise while riding, but if you are into off road riding, the newer tires would be better. Yep, the Mini Step thru is rad. Oh, by the way, may I make a suggestion. When you mention masculine and feminine it could put some men off from purchasing certain models. You know how paranoid some are when it comes to that. Rad Power Bikes are not designed gender specific. Years ago bicycles were because women wore dresses, but not today. We have to get out of that past neanderthal mindset. I'm 6' 1" tall, and ride the step thru. Gender doesn't enter into it. I purchased that model because of bad knee issues and the step thru makes getting off and on pain free. Besides, I see many women riding that so called masculine bike. Mahalo!
Looks like a nice bike. What happens when you fold the bike with racks on it? Do the racks interfere or rub each other? Do the tires roll after the bike is folded so that it may be easily moved by rolling. And any suggestions to possible ramp it into an SUV instead of having to pick the bike up since it weighs so much?
So excited, just purchased one the other day even if I have to wait until the end of July to receive it I'm happy about my purchase! Thanks for your video, it helped me make my decision! 😊
Slight correction....on the Mini you don't have to mess with the seat to remove/install the battery....you can slide it up and then down through the frame on the left side of the bike.
Thanks! I suppose there are ways to work around a lowered saddle. I've noticed that if there's a rack or bottle cage, or any other accessories, I just like to move the seat way up or remove it to create plenty of space for access to the battery. Then, it can be a hassle to get the seat back to the correct height and make it perfectly straight... not the end of the world though, and I appreciate your tip ;)
@@ElectricBikeReview Yep, give it a try (on the Mini): unlock with the key, lift up the battery an inch or two and it will slide out and down the left side WITHOUT touching the seat. You have ridden ALL these bikes. the bike doesn’t come with those 3.3 kenda tires anymore as of october 2020. they come with cheap 3” cst big boat tires and a smooth tread. they’re awful. also the motor is 750w max. the bike really struggles on hills. also having to move the seat to take the battery out gets old fast.
At 5:11, it showed a rigid aluminum support stand for folding, which I think is the first part of the bike to bend or break specially if the owner take it minor off-roading. It should have been designed like a center stand which can be folded down when needed.
Hi Blo! Most of the folding bikes I've seen (folding and non-folding) have this little support arm. I should really double check if it's steel or aluminum alloy, but the bar just helps to stabilize the frame when its folded, and it adds more support to the chain guide. I'd say this setup is on the stronger side because Rad uses a double plated chain guide vs. a single sided chain guard. Sure, they could all bend, but I haven't seen anyone doing more than this... possible due to the added weight?
@@ElectricBikeReview If the owner is a dedicated city rider, probably doesn't have any problem but if the owner is a outdoor camper, it's almost guarantee it will break or bend. There's a lot of obstacle out there like hidden rock and logs that can be hit. Trust me , I am an RVer.
That rigid support stand for the folded ebike has caused some serious injuries for Rad owners and other similar folding ebike owners when the ubar type stand strikes things like roots or curbs and riders then find themselves thrown off the ebike. That u-bar shaped stand should be a clip on piece or have a fold back, or breakaway mechanism for safety reasons.
Thanks for the info. I just had my radrunner stolen. My wife has a Radcity step thru. We have steep hill right out of our driveway and I would like to replace the radrunner with a step thru model (knee surgeries) with 7 speeds to help on hills. I'm 6' 240 and was wondering if the Rad mini step thru would work/hold up over time for me, or if I should step up to the radcity or radrover.
