Court, I relied heavily on your reviews in evaluating e-bikes. Watched many of them on TH-cam. We decided on the RadRover Step Thru and got our e-bikes yesterday. Holy cow, even better than we expected. Ride is stable, lots of power, comfortable riding position and looks even better in person than in reviews. I was slightly hesitant on the step thru, but realize now that it was the right choice. It's a heavy bike and being able to step thru without losing balance is a bonus. Your reviews are exceptional - a real benefit to those of us watching. Thanks so much.
*Great **Latest.Bike** . I upgraded the pedals, added fenders and installed a handle bar extension to raise them. Now it’s a pumped out E-Bike. I love it.*
Got mine last Monday. Been riding for the last 3 days. It's my first ebike, I get up excited to ride and feel the breeze. I'm impressed. And I used to live in Austin too. Back when Austin was cool in the 70s. Austin foolishly sold out decades ago for greed and now traffic is king, got to have an ebike there now because you can't park anywhere in a car.
Austin didn't 'sell out'; its just so dang popular with 125 people moving here every day. You are going to have a lot of traffic when the population doubles every 20 years like it is in Austin.
It seems like most of the cool cities around the world are getting crowded. I moved up to Vancouver Canada a few years back and it has a lot of people from Hong Kong (understandably), and other places around the world. Super expensive... but good public transport and lots of cyclists :)
I Love my Rad Rover Step Thru 1 I got in June . I Now have 1800 miles off road trouble free . I Ride 25 miles most days on off road mountain trails that are 90% gravel covered . I have never used more than 2 battery bars of power to complete the daily ride. I only use power assist level 2 and 3 on peddle assist.
I’ve been watching your reviews for quite some times. I really like your videos and I’ll buy this bike for my wife looks great and sturdy. Thank you for your good work !
I talked to RAD Customer Support yesterday (3/27/2020) and they are out of "extra batteries" so I'm delaying my double RadWaggon order. 2019 = 2020 as far as any changes. Great review. Thanks for sharing.
Another great review. I find this bike and the updated rad mini so appealing. I try to support my local bike shop but I have to say that Rad Power keeps refining and upping the game in terms of features, quality, service and price. It's hard to resist the pull of the Rad lineup as I consider my next purchase. 👍
Thanks Jay! Yeah, I agree with you about Rad. I also strive to support my local shop. Some locations don't have shops. For people on a budget or those with limited options (or people who just like the style and respect what Rad is doing) I feel like it's a leading product for sure. Each year, I cover their bikes, and I stay in touch throughout the season. These guys are really invested in the space and I respect them.
I got one for $400 USD used missing the battery but I already had a beefier 52 volt 17.5 AH battery on it. Yes it would keep up with 25 mph Vehicular traffic. On day I went 45 miles on it I could probably gotten a few more miles on it but I didn't want my battery pack to run dead. Also I weighed a heavy 204 pounds back then. Had I weighed 160 pounds I could probably go faster on it. In one year I put nearly 3,500 miles on it.
Hey Court, Thanks for another awesome review! I about fell over when you said you were in Texas instead of Seattle, but bravo Rad for coming out with the new service for delivery and maintenance. Such a smart move on their part. We have 4 Rad e-bikes, 2 Rovers and 2 Mini's. Love the portability of the foldable bikes. Took them 970 miles up the coast and they fit perfeclty in the back of my small SUV (Kia Sportage). The Mini's are a great bike to start with if you haven't been on a bike in a while, very approachable and nimble. We do pefer the ride on the larger bikes and really appreciate the effiency of the larger 26" wheels. My husband loves his 2017 RadRover. I am impressed with the thoughtful improvements Rad has made to the bikes each year while keeping the price the same and really happy they now have step thru's versions in both in the Mini's and Rover. Well, Court bless you and your team for all your hard work, attention to detail and above all the heart you put into your work! It's been my main go to for e-bike education and I'm really looking forward to your next "ride" video. I have watched them all but I've watched the NY and Long Beach ones more than a couple of times. Perhaps you could have a raffle for viewers where one or two winners ride with you in a future ride video in conjunction with reps from an e-bike company/shop to highlight the area, it's rideability, the shop ability to serve it's customers/community and the raffle winners could show how watching your videos influenced their choice in e-bike and accessories purchases and how the e-bikes have improved their lives. What's funner than watching a ride video with people's smiling faces enjoying their e-bikes in a fun local. It would certailnly highlight the fruit of all your hardwork and the relationship of reviewer/educator - You , the bike company/shop and the folks who enjoy them and make them part of their lives. Kudos, you are much appreciated!
Wow! That's a long ride!! So cool that you were able to fit the folders into your car for the road trip. It's so nice to read your comment, I appreciate your kind words :) I like your idea about a meetup with viewers and some area tours. Thanks again and God bless you too :D
Question please I am 250 lbs male 5’11” tall 32” inseam I need a bike trail riding , go into town ,comfort must , power must .we have hills big seat can you make suggestions , price not issue thanks
The best ebike company in the business economic and powerful. I have a radcity 2019 with 4000 miles still going strong but motor is starting to give in hopefully rad will be able to honor the warranty 👍
Huh, that's interesting... I'm curious what you mean as well? My experience with the gearless hub motors is that they are smooth, consistent, and reliable. Maybe there's a loose magnet or it's actually a loose connection vs. the actual motor? Did sand or water somehow get inside? Hope you're able to keep it going or get a fix, Jamie ;)
Hey Court ATX here - love McKinney Falls State Park , another great E-Bike for a great price ! Ok.... Got to get out to the Veloway Park for a ride...!
My friend bought this bike because he is 83 years old and wanted something easy to mount and dismount. But the moment we assembled it he realised it was far too big and heavy for someone of his frailty. It's a brute! I have offered to buy it because I loved it on sight. Even the 250W European version is powerful enough to deal with the pyrenees mountains, it's comfortable, very stable and ruggedly beautiful. However the inability to remove the big LCD screen seems a major design flaw, it's bound to attract unwanted attention when parked so I have taken to covering it with a black plastic dog poop bag (unused) to help avert prying eyes.
i have a regular black rad rover i bought nearly a year ago now. i really like it a lot, and am pretty much getting out of motorcycles because of that. i've had a few glittches, but that's prolly cuz i'm not very good mechanically. there was a velofix option where i am, and i'm really glad that i paid a few extra bucks for that.
Nice! I'm so glad to hear that your RadRover is working well, and yeah... the Velofix option is pretty good. Even with mechanical skills, it's just nice to have the grease, a bike stand, and all of the correct tools to get these bikes built right from the git-go :D
I really wanted to buy a Rad Rover for a long time. But I realize that I know NOTHING about bike repair or maintenance and from the myriad problems that I have read about with both brand new Rads as well as used ones I r Alize’s that I would just be needlessly aggravated because, around here, in Western Massachusetts it’s not possible to get service or maintenance. So I went to a great bike shop; run by a couple, both over eighty years old and bought an Eco Motion Pro Mini step thru. I’m quite happy with it and know I can get it serviced in a minute by a really nice company. In the end, I’ve come to learn that a Ferrari that’s not working is just a pile of crap,,,,right there to aggravate you.
I keep thinking an ideal ebike would be this with a 35mph top end. Maybe in a few years as ebike become more popular and laws improve. This bike is currently on the top of my wish list.
I think so too. I wish they could go the speed of traffic on small roads, but in the settings you can boost the top speed. Definitely recommended for the road. However, they'll never go that fast as most laws don't allow anything close to that. Plus if you fall you're done.
Very good price, no luggage rack, no simple chain protection. Do not know how good Bafang is, but looks a nice bicycle. Not my choice, but other people may like those tires.
You know, Im really glad I bought my Northrock XC00 and put a bafang bshd 1500 watt mid drive on it. 100 mm version fit perfectly with no spacers. I'm getting 30 - 35 mph on throttle only. It's fun.
There is something about these bikes from Rad. You have to like them. What I don’t like is this horrible shifter 😂. I think one day I will buy one, just for fun. Good to have them in Europe, too.
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the thumb shifter... but they work well with twist throttles. Rad had a few of their Euro models out for this visit, so I'll be posting reviews of them soon as well :)
Ahh, bummer... Did you get the Black Friday deal? Rad has 2020 versions of all models, but this RadRover Step-Thru was an unexpected surprise. Maybe you can sell yours used and save up a bit more to get the step-thru. Which color would you go for :)
So I know you mentioned the white finishing showing marks easily. Did you notice it even more after riding it for the day? Trying to decide between white & black. I do like the contrast of the white with the black fenders, but don't want the hassle of trying to keep it clean all the time. Also have you ever tested the SR Suntour suspension Seatpost? Thanks for your great reviews!
Hi Court , thank you for introducing my wife and I to Rade bikes. We are close to purchasing 2 bikes from Rad . My wife likes the Radmini Step-Thru 2 and same for me but I really love the RadRover Step-Thru . My concern with the RadRover Step-Thru is that I am 5' tall and the bike might be to big - then again I am not concerned about having full leg extension . Web site says 5'-4" - 6'-2 . I would like to here your thoughts . Thanks for your time and keep up the Great Vid's
Court I truly enjoy your videos, both practical and entertaining on a cold day, waiting for sunshine. I bought my wife an e-trike and invested a couple of thousand dollars in a Fat Trike, hoping to restore some of my mobility. Have you considered reviewing some: Bike trails (near the coast, etc): Apps for trips (Does my iphone gps work outside tower range? What about Garmin?) I also spent money on equipment for long distance transport, plus mirrors, lights, bike trailer, etc. All things that could stand a good review. Two way radios with helmet mics?
Hi Dennis, those are GREAT ideas! Thanks for sharing, this is stuff we can start working on in addition to bikes. I've got more Rad reviews in the works... and some Specialized coming soon ;) stay warm!
My height is 182 cm and I don't know if the frame size of 46 cm will fit me? Does this firm save on metal? Or do they make such a low frame for children? All the same, I bought it today because there is no alternative in Europe due to the coronavirus. A question to the owners of this bike is it possible to supply such tires, for example: MAXXIS Minion FBR 27.5x3.80 120TPI ? I will modernize it to my taste. There would be a frame a little more than the price it wouldn't have. Bottom bracket width: 68/73 / 83mm version. What size is this bike worth?
Waiting for the 2020 RadMini review! For a full-size bike I think I'd go with Ride1UP and their 700 Series that you reviewed a few weeks back. That one has more for the money in upgraded parts but if you want to do off-roading then the RadRover would be the better choice. Always enjoy your reviews!
Hey Court & Fellow Bike Enthusiasts, Looking to get my first e bike for the wife and I. We are currently going with the 1 car/1 (acoustic) bike now for our daily commute. Need some helpful advice. I really enjoy your thorough objective reviews,Count. Keep up the good work! 😄 Couple of questions: (1) Most of our daily commute is on paved roads, paved bike trails, a few short paved hills on streets with 1 sandy, dirt bike trail with brief, occasional gravel, dirt, off road stuff. Would the Rad City or Rad Rover be more conducive for our commute? (2) Also, considering the Ride1up 700 series. It's a class 3 with a similar affordable price with all the extras. Thoughts regarding my commute with this bike? Rad is totally rad and ride 1 up is the newcomer but also impressive Tough choice. Not looking for comments that are biased. Just objective ones. Can only afford to get one or the other right now. (The joys of living in expensive Silicon Valley.😣 ) Both bikes are affordable with quality. I feel I can't go wrong with either one based on my own research of both.Understand that you ( Court) may choose to answer just question 1, and that's ok, but open to hearing others' takes as well on both questions. Or email at ballzowned@yahoo.com. Thanks.
check the juiced scrambler:lddy.no/dtov this is a good bike as well and offers 52 v battery pack. You would not get 52 v in other bikes at this price range.Plus you can take it to mild offroading as well
I REALLY like Your ebike reviews ! I'm more than ignorant about ebikes ! I want to buy one , but , alas , The budget is almost nonexistent. The problem with that is I have a " Reese & Muler " taste @ a Wallmart budget ! The only hope I have for a quality ebike is a ( gentley used ) one ! Or , one from a highly motivated seller ( like Your friend Virginia ... I tried to contact Her but Her website was down ) !
Hi Rory! Good catch, I mention it in some of the other reviews because they removed the on/off button and the housing is smaller. The texture is nice and it creates a really smooth transition to the grip. To be completely honest, it's probably not something I would have noticed right away. It works well and feels good... it does its job :)
Thanks EBR, we recently purchased a Rad Rover and a RadCity. Had problems with both throttles sticking with the one-off button. Rad replaced the throttles and all is good. Was just curious with how they improved the new throttle.
Hey Dennis, I’m wearing an ABUS helmet. I think it’s called the ACE. Mine has a disposable coin battery for the light that’s built into the back, but I think new ones have a rechargeable one that uses a little micro USB cable. ABUS also has a helmet specifically for speed pedelec ebikes with a built in rain cover. I find their helmets to be super comfortable and the lobg visor keeps my face shaded.
Hi, just wondering what your opinion is on converting fat tyres to tubeless. I already own a Trek Powerfly mountain bike and went to tubeless after suffering too many punctures. They work really well for me although they do require more regular pumping and 6 monthly injection of sealant.
You guys should do a video on the pros and cons of using toe straps or clipless pedals while riding an e bike. I personally have to use toe straps, cause I've been using them all my life and when i first rode an e bike, I felt like i just could not keep my feet on the pedals at higher speeds.
Hmm, thanks for the suggestion Pedro! I used to ride with these plastic toe clips that aren't tight, but keep your feet in the right position on the pedals. I find that the actual strap-in types can be dangerous if you aren't used to pulling your foot out. I've taken a couple of falls with them in. amzn.to/3aQnW2n
M class and also. I talked with them all it is really is the front suspension and in the c class they changed motor but it seems to be the same dapu motor the m class had in the 2018-2019 model.
Nice! I've always loved this spot... We saw a bunch of cyclists and got a lot of curious onlookers. Had fun sharing the bikes and seeing the wildlife ;) what are some other good spots in the area? Have you been to Hamilton Pool by any chance?!
Good question, Frank. I didn't have any issues during the ride as it is far enough forward and not super low. That said, I have a size 10 shoe. If you're riding properly (with the ball of your foot on the pedal) and you don't have super large feet, I don't think it's an issue on these bikes... but I have experienced this before on some others.
How does it compare to the Himiway Step-Thru? I have the Himiway and right off, I notice that the Rad Rover step-thru is more of a true step thru with a lower stand-over height
I've heard reports that the motor isn't actually a 750w, but is a 500w that's getting more current sent to it through the controller to produce 750w somewhat artificially. That would certainly make it easier for them to ship bikes to places where 750w isn't legal. They'd just need to "untweak" the controller... I've emailed the company for confirmation of the actual rated motor output.
Okay -- here's the response I got from Rad Power Bikes. Makes sense. "Bafang makes a true 750 watt motor for our bikes. By true 750 watt motor, I mean that it is nominal at 750 and peaks at 750. Doing so ensures an amazing performance while staying within the class 2 ebike regulations. While some motors out there have a lower nominal rating than the peak power, our motor design is not like that. We are aware of some misinformation spreading around the internet about motors like ours not being 750 watts. The size of the casing around a motor does not necessarily imply a stronger motor. The mechanical components and electrical engineering of the internals dictate this. As the largest seller of ebikes in the US, our goal is to provide you with a great bike and customer experience. We are not here to mislead folks. We are here to foster a positive community around our radical bikes. Our CEO has also jumped in on Facebook groups to explain our motor more in-depth. We also offer a 1-year warranty for the 750 watt motor. We could not offer this if our motor ended up not being 750 watts. "
Hi court I've started commuting on my rad rhino last week so was looking to replace the tyres with road tyres when I came across slicks ( tyres with no tread at all ).So what are they. do you use them on the road?.🤔🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️👍
Hi Andrew, I've seen some fat slicks before! They could reduce friction and noise but still give you the higher air volume which offers some comfort and some stability too :)
Still researching for a first purchase... but can these evokes be ridden like a traditional bike if the battery dies? Thanks for all the great reviews.
yes you can ride them as normal bikes when the battery dies.Rad bikes are good but i really wish that had a 52 v battery like the one from the juiced:lddy.no/dtov
Court, Another exceptional review on another Rad Power Bike. Since I live in the land of the Rad Power Bike, the ‘Great’ Pacific Northwest, I can get them delivered by the van or go to the shop. Just a question. Being a larger guy (Over 6’, over 250lbs), how well would the Step-Thru work for us larger Dudes and Dudettes? It seems very doable. I can see riding this on Alki Beach, Ocean Shores, or the Hoh Rain Forrest.
The RadMini models have moved from 20x4 to 20x3.3 this year, and they do use a knobby tread vs. city slicks. It surprised me a bit. The 3.3" standard is something they introduced with the RadRunner last year electricbikereview.com/rad-power-bikes/radrunner/
Thanks for the wonderful review! I’m looking to get an E bike for traveling back-and-forth to my work. I travel about 16 miles round-trip. I live in northern Washington state where there are many hills. I also have a small 14 pound dog that would travel with me. Any suggestions on what the best bike would be for me to use? I’m guessing I need to worry about a powerful enough motor to make it up the hills, and also is there a way to carry a small dog on these type of bikes?
get a cheap plastic coolbox of 24 liter ,make a plate of wood under and inside the box ,make a plate for the bike rear and put a blanket inside ,most comfy for the dog and relativily cheap.
I have a RadRover. Super easy to learn and ride. The only slightly tricky part is the initial assembly, but the instructions for that are quite clear, plus there are several demo-videos here on TH-cam.
Rad! Seems like the front suspension is redundant for road/gravel riding with those tires. I like the easier maintenance of the mechanical brakes though, nice bike.
I agree with Mike, there's a bit trade-off between efficiency and comfort when you change the air pressure on a tire. Having suspension... even if it's pretty basic, is the best option for comfort, control, and efficiency, but it does add weight and can bob if not setup well for the rider.
@@mikeb1039 Sure. I wasn't suggesting that fat tires are equivalent to suspension though. For first world road or gravel path riding most people won't need the redundancy of both fat tires and suspension - one or the other would ride more efficiently and reduce weight and cost. Personally I'm not a fan of either. A rigid frameset with wide (not fat) tires at 60-65 psi and a spring saddle or suspension seat post is more than sufficient for road commuting on a 60 lb bike below 40 mph. Higher speeds, motorcycles, offroading, etc. need suspension. The only case I see for fat tires is snow. The bike industry loves to over-engineer things for marketing juju.
The City is much bigger and taller than the Rover. We were talked out of the city by Rad Reps because they said the Rover is more suited for our heights, 5'6" and 5' 10 ". Also the motor is upgraded on the rover.
Can the headlight be replaced? You reviewed a brand that had quick disconnect on all serviceable parts so they could sustain warranty. I spoke to Seattle Rad yesterday. He said they would post comment on review but "where not subscribers." He said the entire line uses identical light and a new version this year but line wide. He said the standard does not have an option. Your brand is at risk here. Any commuter that has a 500 plus hour battery but no daytime running light is dangerous sunrise to sunset. You phoned this one in.
I'm a little confused here. Most of their electronics are modular (including the controller). Anyone can comment on EBR videos here, whether you're a subscriber or not. The headlight and rear light can be activated during the day... so it's extra safe, and the battery is 672 watt hours so there's plenty of juice. I hope that helps you!
World Wide Images with the fat tires lowered a bit, and a suspension seat lost, the RadRovers can be pretty comfortable. Rear suspension would be cool, but probably raise the cost and weight quite a bit
Hey Josh! Yeah, my first ebike was enough to actually let me sell my car, and it saved a lot on gas, registration, repairs, insurance etc. However! I lived close enough to work, and was willing to ride in the rain sometimes. Definitely inspiring, what this technology can do :)
@@ElectricBikeReview As long as the place where you live is pedestrian friendly and not too far away from the places you need to get to, you don't need a car at all.
Hi Aaron! I believe that if you raised the saddle height and swiveled the handlebar forward a bit, then yes! You could also get a longer seat post (like 400mm vs. 350mm) and then swap the short stem for a longer one to extend reach. I hope this helps! All of the part sizes are listed in the full review at electricbikereview.com/rad-power-bikes/radrover-step-thru/ so you know what hardware to get ;)
I was doing some research and Rad bikes got my attention. Meanwhile I saw another company with similar bikes but their bikes specs are way better with the same price. You can get the hydro brakes , suspension , advanced control panel with passcode , comes factory with rear rack and the seat is very comfortable. 9 gear spread and battery range is more than what Rad offers. I got my bikes last week and I am so happy that I didn’t pull the trigger and bought Rad. This company is Rize bikes rizebikes.com
Hi, thank you for your informative review. I’m interested in this Step-Thru model. I have a question: when pedaling, did your feet touch or contact the front tire or fender while steering the bike? The distance between the two seems small.
Great question, Gilbert. I didn't have an issue with toe-strikes on the front fender. My shoe size is roughly 10 US, so take that into consideration. I have definitely kicked fenders before, just wasn't an issue here.
Buddy you need to slow it down when you see a deer cross your path, there's often a chance of another one or two following it ... I know of someone who died riding a bike after a deer jumped out and collided with the biker ..
Hmm, that's an interesting looking ebike! I've covered a few of the other minibikes in recent years, and I'll keep an eye out for the ZUGO electricbikereview.com/category/minibike/
Yeah, it worked pretty well. I feel like the design looks good and the performance of the frame was great. It could very easily have been flexy, but they did a good job with the tubing and mini top-tube battery surround bar thing.
i bought one ,had trouble with tires not seating bead on rim. tube is thin. overall great bike. Rad company is impossible to communicate with,Either by phone or email.
With a bit of help getting started, or a bit of momentum going in, these planetary geared hub motors work surprisingly well for climbing. I've noticed some slower starts and weaker climbing from the direct drive hub motors on the RadCity and RadWagon, but the Rovers and especially the RadMinis (with smaller 20" wheels) work well :)
Great question... I keep reaching out to them, just haven't heard back on a solid date to visit and make it happen. The last time that I covered one of their bikes, the motor wasn't working quite right and I was semi critical of the systems. Perhaps my honesty has put them off a bit.
@@ElectricBikeReview Juiced is a very odd company, prolly because Tora isn't in this country half the time. Maybe your best bet would be to corner them at a show or just show up at their HQ?. Do the "are you guys avoiding me?" thing. Or, you could also tell them that you'll be forced to review their customer's bikes. That should do it! I'm tellin' ya Court, Juiced has come a LONG way since your RCS review. It's worthy of reviewing, and I don't mean to hassle you about it, but Juiced is becoming huge. This review may take a bit of work, but it should pay off. JMHO
My RAD City is now dead after 3000 miles and two years of use. The battery, over the course of a few months, held less and less charge and is now essentially a useless paperweight. I contacted RAD and they immediately blamed me for the problem (they told me I shouldn't charge the battery all day while I'm at work). They were, however, more than willing to sell me a new $500 battery. My next bike will be from (what I hope is) a company that is, unlike RAD, ethical.
I love my ebike...I would never buy a bike with a custom branded battery. My bike uses a silverfish battery. The battery on this bike looks generic. Much cheaper to replace...and if you use your bike like I use mine...you will eventually need to replace it!
Making a Fat bike into a street commuter looking bike whats the point? Those new tyres don't suit the "fat bike look" they should have kept the big white lettering on the new tyres and along with full mudguards make this bike look totally lame ! where are the hydraulic brakes? I have a Fat ebike in Australia almost identical to a RAD with all the same parts, they all come from china and from the same factories sent over in a shipping containers with importers choice of branding so Rad is only really responsible for designing accessory point placement on the frames the rest is standard pick and choose from the Chinese options available. Fat ebikes are not the best bikes for commuting not many reviewers mention this? if you have to stop suddenly its very hard to take off again without using the throttle given these bikes are so heavy, the comfort of fat tyres with low pressure is quite dangerous where you may have to stop/start a lot because you cant just peddle off on even the slightest of inclines due to PAS lag, so you need much higher tyre pressure which then gives no ride comfort advantage over standard wheel/tyres. Just how many buyers are going to go off road beach or track? these bikes are marketed at the new to ebike buyer market who may not have ridden for many years. RAD have made a good looking fat bike into a Dutch commuter with plain unaspiring looking fat wheels and tyres aimed at a market that does not need fat tyres or front suspension other than for style and looks which in my opinion has been lost. :)
It would be cool if they sold some slick tires, for people who mostly go on-road. The fenders would be fairly easy to remove, for people who don't need them ;)
DON'T BUY NATKO! -- WE EXPERIENCED 2 MOTOR FAILURES IN QUICK SUCCESSION AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! -- SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED WITH BBB-
Hi Rodney! I realize the reviews here go in-depth. You can skip ahead using the time stamps in my pinned comment (which is also listed in the first few seconds of the video).
My wife and I owe you much gratitude for introducing us to the ebike world. Thank you Court!
Aww, thanks for the comment! I'm glad these videos and the site has helped you. Have a great time out there riding together :D
*Great **Latest.Bike** . I upgraded the pedals, added fenders and installed a handle bar extension to raise them. Now it’s a pumped out E-Bike. I love it.*
More info about your custom upgradez PLZ🤔🤣
This will be my 3rd year on my 2018 RadRover. I ride 4-5 times a week about 15 miles per ride and it's still going strong. =)
How's the maintenance and battery quality after a few years? Do you service it yourself?
Got mine last Monday. Been riding for the last 3 days. It's my first ebike, I get up excited to ride and feel the breeze. I'm impressed. And I used to live in Austin too. Thanks, John :D
I’ve been watching your reviews for quite some times. I really like your videos and I’ll buy this bike for my wife looks great and sturdy. Thank you for your good work !

If these are like the 2017 Rad Rover that I have and love, the top speed can be adjusted up to very close to 25 MPH.
Burps when i start up
Huh, that's interesting...
It takes a bit to start from the throttle and the motor makes a hicup noise not sure how to explain it. No water exposure at all. Light rain minimum
Just ordered this bike today!! Can't wait to ride 🚴🏽♀️💕
Hey Court ATX here - love McKinney Falls State Park , another great E-Bike for a great price ! Ok.... Got to get out to the Veloway Park for a ride...!
Yeah! I keep hearing about that spot, thanks for the tip ;)
@@Teamshmo good to know. I would only need the 35 for extremely short amount of time before I get to much safer roads. Thanks for your reply.

Another absolutely fantastic review, thanks.
Awesome! Thanks Mike, glad you enjoyed it :D
It's fun.
That sounds pretty cool. Ride safe!
@@ElectricBikeReview Thank you very much and you be safe as well! Keep the great videos coming!
Awesome bike but why does this new model have to come out 3 months after I bought the high-step one?? I feel so frustrated and unlucky.
Ahh, bummer... Did you get the Black Friday deal? Rad has 2020 versions of all models, but this RadRover Step-Thru was an unexpected surprise. Maybe you can sell yours used and save up a bit more to get the step-thru. Which color would you go for :)
Imagine how the owners of the radrunner feel ..they literally released a plus and dropped the price of the radrunner within 1 month of its release lol
I've got more Rad reviews in the works... and some Specialized coming soon ;) stay warm!
heat "sink".
super great over-view. thank you!
Thanks! I've got all of the other 2020 Rad models filmed, and will be working on processing and publishing in the coming days/weeks ;)
Great video! Very helpful!
Awesome bike and looks super comfortable! Class 1 and 2 only? No class 3 option?
What type of sunglasses do you have?
Hey Court & Fellow Bike Enthusiasts,
Looking to get my first e bike for the wife and I. We are currently going with the 1 car/1 (acoustic) bike now for our daily commute. Need some helpful advice. I really enjoy your thorough objective reviews,Count. Keep up the good work! 😄
Couple of questions:
(1) Most of our daily commute is on paved roads, paved bike trails, a few short paved hills on streets with 1 sandy, dirt bike trail with brief, occasional gravel, dirt, off road stuff.
Thanks.
check the juiced scrambler:lddy.no/dtov
this is a good bike as well and offers 52 v battery pack.
Hi Court, Rad RAD..!
Hi Rob :D
Love all of your informative videos. I wish you would do a review of the Himiway All terrain cruiser step thru.
No mention in regards to the new throttle design. Rad mentions it there advertisement. Is there any real change or is it just a Aesthetics
What helmut are you wearing? Great stuff thanks!
Which do you like more, this or Radrunner?
Are you guys planning to cover the new/updated bikes from Ariel Rider anytime soon? I can't find a single video on the updated C class.
M class and also. I talked with them all it is really is the front suspension and in the c class they changed motor but it seems to be the same dapu motor the m class had in the 2018-2019 model.
Thanks for the request, McCall! I'll probably connect with them as the weather improves. Yeah, they have some great products :)
whats the commuter bike like compared to these bikes?
Oooh, McKinney Falls is about 2 miles from me!
Nice! I've always loved this spot... We saw a bunch of cyclists and got a lot of curious onlookers. Had fun sharing the bikes and seeing the wildlife ;) what are some other good spots in the area? Have you been to Hamilton Pool by any chance?!
Is there any concern for toe hitting front fender splash guard?

Hey Court,
I ordered 2 of these, One for my wife and one for me, (1st Electric bike), Do I have to put these together ? Thanks !!
I ordered this for my wife. Had to put on the front tire, handle bar, pedals, front fender, and light.
@@TheSimfixer Was it easy to do? How long did it take?
@@fyremelon easy if you have very basic mechanic skills. Took me about an hour each to assemble
If you are under 6'4 get this one instead:lddy.no/dyhi
this has got 52v battery as well.
Gives me good performance.
Trust me dudes bigger than you ride ebikes.
This kind of lock on the battery is very easy to pick . Be aware
looks like they put a more knobbie tire on the mini-stepthru. Mine is mostly slick with rain grooves. I will look into swapping mine out.
I bought a pair of those street tires from RAD for my fat tire folder and I love them! I was bummed to see they got rid of them after only 1 year :/
The RadMini models have moved from 20x4 to 20x3.3 this year, and they do use a knobby tread vs. city slicks. It surprised me a bit. The 3.3" standard is something they introduced with the RadRunner last year electricbikereview.com/rad-power-bikes/radrunner/
I want to get this exact bike today, but they are all on back order till sep 2020
what are the orange racks you are using with this bike? Are they from Rad, or are they 3rd party?
Did not like putting the battery directly to the ground ,good review
How / where are they serviced ?
Thanks for the wonderful review! I’m looking to get an E bike for traveling back-and-forth to my work. I travel about 16 miles round-trip. I live in northern Washington state where there are many hills. I also have a small 14 pound dog that would travel with me. Any suggestions on what the best bike would be for me to use? I’m guessing I need to worry about a powerful enough motor to make it up the hills, and also is there a way to carry a small dog on these type of bikes?
get a cheap plastic coolbox of 24 liter ,make a plate of wood under and inside the box ,make a plate for the bike rear and put a blanket inside ,most comfy for the dog and relativily cheap.
ad vdwerff thanks 🙏 will look into building one.
Got a video of the petbox now on my account as an idea
Very nice e-bicycles, very good price. The wiring in front I do not like, but hé.
Does ones have to have a motorcycle license to ride one around? Also, never ridden a motorcycle or an ebike. Are gears, etc. Difficult to learn?
How does this compare to the step up?
Just ordered my rad rover step through on October 3 even though I may have to wait a monthTo get it because of corona I don’t mind
Wonder if it will fit on a car rack
Locking the front fork will allow you to get better acceleration but the difference will be small
it would be nice to have solid wheels instead of spokes, no adjusting , and keeps little critters from running up between the spokes
I'm 5'2 female, would this bike be too big for me? I think my inseam is 30 inches.
The Rad website says minimum height for this bike is 5ft 4in...this is a big heavy bike ...you might need some smaller.
You can unlock battery with any blank key that fits into keyhole...or just about anywhere that fits in keyhole. Not a good battery lock at all.
How do you compare Rad Rover step through and Rad City step through?
The City is much bigger and taller than the Rover. We were talked out of the city by Rad Reps because they said the Rover is more suited for our heights, 5'6" and 5' 10 ". Also the motor is upgraded on the rover.
whats the top speed of the radrover 1 with throttle nvm i just saw it
Some indicators would be good
That's a cool idea, like turn signals?
Yes, I don’t understand why nobody has done this yet.
what does the step thrue weight ?
Can the headlight be replaced? You reviewed a brand that had quick disconnect on all serviceable parts so they could sustain warranty.
I spoke to Seattle Rad yesterday. He said they would post comment on review but "where not subscribers."
He said the entire line uses identical light and a new version this year but line wide.
They need rear suspension!
World Wide Images with the fat tires lowered a bit, and a suspension seat lost, the RadRovers can be pretty comfortable. Rear suspension would be cool, but probably raise the cost and weight quite a bit
This could replace a car for sure
I'm 6'2", could this bike comfortably support me?
This company is Rize bikes

ElectricBikeReview.com Good to know. Thanks.
Buddy you need to slow it down when you see a deer cross your path, there's often a chance of another one or two following it ... I know of someone who died riding a bike after a deer jumped out and collided with the biker ..
Can you guys review the ZUGO rhino E Bike???????
Hmm, that's an interesting looking ebike! I've covered a few of the other minibikes in recent years, and I'll keep an eye out for the ZUGO electricbikereview.com/category/minibike/
This seems like it would be a fun bike for exploring some dirt roads on. Seems like a lot of bike for the money compared to their competition.
Yeah, it worked pretty well. I feel like the design looks good and the performance of the frame was great. It could very easily have been flexy, but they did a good job with the tubing and mini top-tube battery surround bar thing.
Anyone with a customer working referral code? Tried one but it won’t work as I’m trying to order a step-thru. Thanks in advance.
i bought one ,had trouble with tires not seating bead on rim. tube is thin. overall great bike. Rad company is impossible to communicate with,Either by phone or email.
Hub motor won’t work in steep hills. Mid drive is the best for cities like San Francisco. That is why these bikes are way cheaper than mid drive.
Merrell boots.....cool
These jumped up to 1600 now? Pandemic prices I guess...
Court, speaking of extra juice, when are you going to review Juiced Bikes?
Can a woman 5'3 ride
The fenders would be fairly easy to remove, for people who don't need them ;)
That's a terrible thumbnail. it ruins the whole channel
Bert Richards your attitude ruins the whole channel
How?
Hey Bert, I'm open to input on how you and others feel I could be improving the channel... thumbnails and all. Feel free to make some suggestions ;)
@@ElectricBikeReview the old thumbnails were perfect. with the new ones i can't see the back of the bike at all. all i see is front tire

One of these times you should show the headlight at night instead of just under a tree.

Hi Rodney! I realize the reviews here go in-depth. You can skip ahead using the time stamps in my pinned comment (which is also listed in the first few seconds of the video).
This is not a review. It is an ad.
Even your voice is very insincere.
