Don’t lock the steering on a flat tow. Never had to do it before, so lesson learned! All I could think was these giant tires locking to one side and throwing me off the road. Safety third people!

I'm not surprised it fired right up and idled like a champ. Those old Mopar flatheads were extremely well-engineered and are as reliable as the sun rising every morning. Mopar flatheads were used for all kinds of applications where a highly reliable engine was needed like in military applications, agriculture and even in airport machinery. They're so reliable and durable that some are still in use today, all these years later. In fact, some rural parts stores still carry parts for these engines because they are still used for pumping water out of fields and for irrigation, etc. The fact that some parts stores still carry parts for them is a testament to their reliability and durability, and just how well-engineered they are. Treat one right and they'll outlast you.

Hey Dylan, congratulations on looking after an old truck. Happy to see a young guy with some mechanical sympathy. I am from Australia and am doing the same process with my 1974 Dodge D5N 600. It was built here by Chrysler Australia.
Have subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your video's..

Love the truck. My older brother found himself a 52 Dodge he loved it. Just like yours but it had the military green on it. He got it running and loved it and tried to sell it to me. I told him I already have two plus my own pickup. Well long story short the wife left him so he lost the truck. He thought I was nuts when I found a old Model A Ford closed cab pickup out in a farmers field well. I was 14 and sold it when I was 27 But I still had a 1931 Model A pickup well marriage and down south Wife did not want me to take my trucks. I had a 57 F100. Loved it and was almost finished. One thing I know it was not cheap at all. Now I have a 1963 VW bug for sale and if you know any takers its for sale along with more things than you could fit in a P/U.
Keep un the good work. My father would only purchased a Dodge every other year. I always wanted a Road Runner but by they they were out of the $$ range. Just keep going on BIG JOHN! 🙏 👍

Quick tip on taking radiator hoses and fuel lines off. After removing the clamp, take your pliars and grab the hose where the clamp was, squeeze somewhat tight and twist the hose. Most the time they break free and it makes it super easy to take the hose off. Way easier than taking the clamp off and pulling/twisting by hand. Awesome truck though, can't wait for more videos of it

You didn’t have to brace the wheel. It would’ve trailed just fine.

@@1986Honda4trax yes, but because you are pulling it from a fixed toe hitch, it will always follow the towing vehicle. Trust me, it will trail. It’s not like you’re pulling it from the rear. THEN you need to strap the wheel.

I had a 1973 Dodge Country 100 4X4 that had a USAF Data plate on the dash. I took that thing hunting, fishing, Christmas Tree cutting, 4 Wheeling, everything. I loved that truck. My AF job sent me to another base, and I had to sell it. Just had no way to move it. I miss that truck. Dana 44 front axle, Corporate 9.75 rear. Tourqueflite 727, with an NP205 transfer case.
