yeah she wants to live and run. I'd restore her and make her pretty again. afaik that body looks fairly straight even if it is rough on the surface. at the very least sand her down and primer her.

The reason it could best it’s factory 1/8 mile time is because all that rust has made it about 100kg lighter! What a great little car! So much personality!

I love those little mustang 2. My sister had one back on the late seventies early eighties, I can’t remember, I waxed that car so much that the primer became visible and shiny. It was a V 6 and never ran right but I loved the hatch back design with the canary yellow and black bottom. Thank you for bringing back old great memories. God Bless .

I had a lower radiator leak once , on the way home . I stopped for water about 10 miles from home . The engine was a 302 in a 72 Mercury . It was glowing red . It took 30 minutes to get water to even stay in the engine . Then I filled it up & drove it home . I bought a new radiator , changed the oil & filter , & the radiator . Filled it with coolant & drove it another 30k more miles . I still have that engine .

Great job at retrieving that Mustang II. Two suggestions. 1. Change rear diff fluid cayse no one ever does. Remove fill plug FIRST. 2 When you powerwash, pre soak the car with a mix if Dawn dishwashing liquid (one cup) to a gallon or two of water FIRST. You can also add a half cup of kerosene too. Wash with pressure washer from top down. Good luck and well done

Hi from the UK. Like others I would to see it done up. Has if it had just come out of paint shop. No mods just factory fresh. I'm surprised you can drive a car in that condition. Over here we would have had fines a mile long. No wipers, rust, cracked windscreen. But it did you proud. Almost made it home. Well done. Can't wait to see more.

If this Mustang II gets a restoration story it could gain a following similar to Ron Finger's Fiero.... a very interested cult will follow.

I remember doing the brakes on my Mustang II 30 years ago. To be accurate, handing my dad tools and holding the light while he did it, all while telling me he wasn't going to fix my car for me and I had to do it myself, lol.

What's cooler than pulling up to a ratty car meet than a running and otherwise structurally "sound" car covered in lichen and moss? This could be the new flat black.

Had those same wheels in 5 lug on my first truck, a 78 Chevy Scottsdale. It was a two tone brown and tan single cab short bed. I loved that truck.

1st thing I want to see are Working Gages! Dang Buddy, looks like you gonna have to pound a trunk pan out of sheet metal. Now you just need a 8.8" or 9" rear end and a Holly EFI and you will be all set.
