Cool video as always. In case it’s helpful, you can put a softbox on the Aeos 2. Rotolight does an adaptor bracket to mount it inside the soft box.

You can change the modifier on the Aeos 2 Rotolight has so many to choose from. The smartsoft box, R 90, ILLUMINATOR and so many more.

Thank you for your video! I have a few questions: 1) have you been pleased with the performance of your Godox 600 strobe? 2) Have you experienced any horizontal lines with HSS? 3) How is the the color accuracy from shot to shot at specific power settings?
We had Profoto B1's and A1's. Then, I sold them and tried the Godox XPro R2 with the V1. Now, I am trying to decide whether to continue with Godox/Flashpoint or move to another manufacturer like Profoto, Broncolor, Paiul C. Buff, or Westcott.

Slightly different question but what Colour Profile Display do you use on your MacBook Chelsea? I use the histogram but my photos always look a lot cooler on my iPhone

Thank, :) PS I love the video. Great work, as always.

I have a 59" H X 105" W white screen in my home theater, I have wondered how that would work as a backdrop.
Also, anyone know if there is a way to use my iPad as an external viewer to look at a picture I have just taken? My D700 has mini-hdmi out so I'm assuming with the right cables and App it would work. My thoughts are the iPad would be on a stand by itself, D700 on tripod and cable between the two.

How big is this room? Whenever I look into setting up a home studio most of the stuff I read online makes it sound like you need at least a 20x30 room with 15 foot ceilings at MINIMUM, which is clearly not the case.

Rotolight AEOS2 - light modifier - you have a number of options first is a digital soft box (which is great as it has a small footprint than a normal soft box). Also have a Bowens S Mount (also for Neo 3) and have two parabolic soft boxes 90 and 120 cm - should do some more research

Off-topic question I’ve never seen addressed. I often travel to remote jobs in my car with a portable lighting system, lenses, and bodies. There are times when that equipment sits in my vehicle for hours. I am sometimes concerned about the temperature in my parked car when it is full of gear, so I put cameras/lenses in an insulated cooler-bag. It’s NOT a camera bag - No padding, no compartments, no spacers - but I’d rather protect the gear from extreme heat (or cold) than use a traditional uninsulated camera bag. Is there any product out there that provides protection against temperature extremes AND cradles my gear like a good camera bag would?
    THANKS for any suggestions.

Nice to see what's in your studio and what you found that works and doesn't work. Thanks.

Tony, if you turn your quick release plate backwards on your camera base, it will put the sideways pistol grip ball head in your left hand while working your camera controls/shutter release with your right simultaneously. This allows quick minute adjustments while following active subjects; such as small fidgety children. I love that particular head. I don’t however, tilt it up for going vertical. Rather, I attach a vertiflip bracket to the quick release, to which the camera is secured. This allows almost instant transitions between horizontal and vertical without altering the way my two hands coordinate with the camera and ball head, regardless of what view is chosen in the moment.
Hopefully, a useful trick from my 33 years as a working professional, specializing in children’s/family portraiture.😊

Would be great to see review videos on color meters and light meters in a studio when shooting videos with multiple lights. I know there are solutions that work with smart phones, but I don’t know how well they really compare with Sekonic products, which are pricey (especially the color meter). I’ve seen and read some reviews, but honestly, after 13+ years of following you on this channel, you’re the only guy I trust for stuff like this, truly my photo/video geek! 👍 I could be wrong, but I don’t remember you covering the topic on the channel or in your book.

Was expecting Godox fanboys littering the comments saying it's cheaper and better than whatever "x" brand that Tony and Chelsea are using in their studios. They tend to do that with any studio strobe review on other channels. You guys dodged a bullet in terms of near toxic comments.

  • @aceflibble
    @aceflibble ปีที่แล้ว

Americans' contemporary dedication to the misuse of the word "strobe" is both mind-boggling and maddening. Every electrician, musician, and anyone who ever set foot in a studio before 2005 is weeping.
Despite your video's title and repeated use of the term, there's not a single "strobe" in this. Even the alleged strobe effect of one of your lights is about 1/3rd the speed necessary to qualify as a strobe light. (Yes, I did look up the unit and verified the speed.)
Here's a simple guide for you: if you're not running a night club in Berlin in 1997, you do not own a strobe light. What you have is a flash, a head & pack, or a simple light panel which turns on and off vaguely faster than you could manually operate a switch. Not a strobe.
You used to be respectable educators; you should know better.

Lots of terms in photography or video are leftover terms from a bygone era. Like “shoot” your subject which sounds weird out of context or I’m going to “film” this subject. Etc. no one cares chill out
