Adding in Donkey Kong Jr. Math gotta be one of the funniest things ever
Nintendo wants people to get good education 👍
Donkey Kong Jr. Math on Nintendo Switch Online before gta 6 and the successor Nintendo Switch system
How long until they add a CDi emulator?
we got DK jr math before [insert game you want here]
@@NRobbi42 February 2025 presentation going over the Switch 2: “And before we leave, we actually have one last announcement to make…”
*Wand of Gamelon music starts playing*
Honestly if you have another person to play with, Donkey Kong Jr Math is a pretty fun game, even if there’s math involved.
Finally I can play Donkey Kong Jr. Math and pretend I’m not crying
Are you crying cuz pf the game or…
😂😂😂😂
@@BR-jw7pmi know i would
We all know you can't pass the first grade math skills 😂
My nephew likes it. So it's actually good for kids who like retro games.
Fun fact: OG NES Golf was actually playable on the switch before this update.
It was hidden in the system and you could access it by holding the joy-cons and performing the gesture Satoru Iwata used to make in directs. NES Golf was one of his favorite games, and Nintendo added it in as an easter-egg to honor his life.
Nintendo unfortunately patched this secret out. This was because in Japan, it was tradition to place a recently deceased’s person’s favorite things in a special box that is not allowed to open. The hidden game was essentially a digital version of this ritual, and it’s clear that Nintendo wanted Iwata’s life to be honored in a special way by giving the switch a secret game that only they knew about.
Interesting.
It's more likely they removed it because they disliked the idea of people getting stuff for free.
@@otaking3582 agree
Aw...my heart. 😢
Nintendo, you are doing an exceptional disservice towards Iwata by removing it, and regardless of it being free? If you have someone moderating these comments here on behalf of Nintendo of America? On behalf of us all - *shame on you.*
Interesting fact! But if they added it here and removed the secret activation method it's because this Nintendo is no longer Iwata's Nintendo. But I'll cherish Iwata's contributions for as long as I can. ❤
DK Jr. Math legitimately has one of the best vs modes on the NES
Competitive mathematics. Honestly it's interesting.
Combined with janky platforming
good stuff
Urban Champion gets flack, but it's actually quite good in 2-player. The Arcade Archives 1-player mode is better and more challenging though then the home NES version. Also has more backgrounds.
"You do math like a *****"
"Now you're doing Maths with POWER"
It would be funny if we got Mario is missing and Mario’s Time Machine
They added DK Jr. Math so anything’s possible
I actually like SNES Mario is Missing, not gonna lie.
@@SquirrelMario dk jr math was both developed and published by nintendo. the mario edutainment games had zero involvement from nintendo
@@SquirrelMariowell Nintendo didn't even make Mario is Missing and Mario's Time Machine, they just licensed those two games. DK Jr. Math was indeed made by Nintendo. So I don't think they'll give us those other edutainment games. Besides, even Nintendo themselves never even acknowledge them anyway.
@@TheGoldenJiggy that acknowledgement thing is definitely a huge factor. dk jr math was released on the virtual console on both the wii and wii u so it isn't surprising that it was added to switch online. when was the last time nintendo has ever acknowledged the edutainment games? (hint: the answer is never)
Golf, Iwata’s first Nintendo game he created.
Honey wake up, Nintendo acknowledged Mach Rider
It needs a new game.
Based.
i thought i was gonna be the only excited to see this but boy am i happy to be wrong
I like Mach Rider, and Golf was one of Satoru Iwata's works, if I recall correctly.
You lied, and even if Golf was the brainchild of Satoru Iwata, is that what he wants to be remembered for? A pretty bad and outdated golf game? Or his incredible works as Nintendo's CEO till 2015?
@@koolaid33 Golf's mechanics were revolutionary at the time and set the standard for future games in the genre. Not to mention its influence if felt today as the maps have been remade in both Wii Sports and Nintendo Switch Sports. Also, he said if he recalled correctly not that he knew definitely which makes him no liar.
I think anyone would be lucky to be remembered for such a great and influential game. And even if Satoru was the creator, if would only elevate him higher rather than pull him down. Get off your high horse.
@@koolaid33you are so weird
@@GavinKndo you think Nintendo invented the concept of golf? You know it’s based on actual golf right…?
@@mredbadger They meant that it was revolutionary for Golf games.
I am genuinely so happy to see solar jetman was released. I used to play it lots on my NES but i foolishly sold it. I dont know why i did that, I like the game so much.
Please consider adding Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3 to the NES library.
This! So this!
seriously
I don’t even think that’s gonna happen.
PRECISELY!
I think Nintendo is limited in how many / which games they can bring in that were published by someone else. I expect they need to pay a royalty fee for each one and would likely need to increase the cost of the service if they need to pay too many royalty fees.
Finally I’ve been waiting 6 years to play Urban Champion
I am so sorry
Heck I've been waiting 40!
@@af6462 just buy an nes
This is the first time that anyone has ever made this statement
Could of gotten the Arcade Archives version. It's arguably better.
7 NES GAMES, YEESH
Also why did Urban Campion and Mach Rider take so long to be on the service?
because they want to drip feed you as much as possible obviously
Honestly didn’t even notice Urban Champion was missing. If I ever get the hankering, I can pull out my old eReader and scan the 10 cards to play it.👍
Ok but Golf
I guess because they're not very popular. I enjoyed them though on 3DS.
Better question is why their on the service at all, or why Nintendo has re-released them on every system since the Wii. Neither are even good, nobody plays them, why does Nintendo continue to re-release trash?
Dude, Solar Jetman? I LOVED THAT GAME!
Oh neat, they finally put Golf back on the Switch.
Damn. Golf AND Donkey Kong Jr Math. Nintendo you spoil us too much
I dunno, Golf is kinda neat in that it requires some strategies, and such. I enjoyed playing it in the original Animal Crossing.
@@beauwalker9820Oh yeah! I remember that! You could play old games on the system there! That was really a neat feature.
Hey i liked golf!
Nice sarcasm
Just so everyone understands the significance of this, those first two games were created by Rare.
Are they actually?
@@darkdoctor1915 Yep.
@@darkdoctor1915Yeah in fact both were in RareReplay too. Cobra Triangle I actually think is a really fun game.
then there's hope for games like Willow, and maniac mansion, and some other great gems?
Rare was so great, I miss them...
MACH RIDER and URBAN CHAMPION
are childhood favorites of mine.
Cobra Triangle is the best of these new additions. Don’t skip on it.
I used to play that one way back when
not like there's much competition lol
Mach Rider? Urban Champion?
@@GlitchanBlack I haven’t played them, so I can’t vouch for them.
@@FreedomDaveXif you haven't played them all, how do you know which one is best?
Urban champion is such a 80’s gem.
Please Nintendo release zapper games on the Switch
Oh man! I have so many memories as just a little kid in the 90s playing Golf with my grandfather for hours and hours, who since has passed away. The memories and nostalgia are real with that one.
Bart: "I want Bonestorm!!"
Marge: "We have Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge at home."
Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge at home.
Now, we await the Wizards & Warriors trilogy. Yes, trilogy, including Ironsword and the third one.
Also, somebody must've had a laugh adding Atlantis no Nazo to the service. Just wait 'til you see the 42th Zone. (Yes, that's how they spell it.)
PLEASE YES.
The first especially is in my top 10 dream list for NSO. Along with Solar Jetman. Bionic Commando next, please!
I own the first two. Never even seen the cartridge for the third and only realized it existed a few years ago. First game's great. The second one... kind of painful. Would not mind seeing all three on the NSO alongside the Adventure Island series.
Yes! I loved Wizards & Warriors. I think getting the rights to the game could be a problem.
Surprised they didn't use the Super Pitfall 2 prototype, I guess it would have cost too much....
@@Taneuma_563 Activision would be a problem, even if Microsoft owns them now.
MACH RIDER!!! I am so happy! I can't wait to play. Amazing music and a really great concept of a game. I always enjoyed making custom tracks, but I wasn't good at the game so I would use the small "(" shaped pieces to make a near straight map.
Also played Golf with my sister many hours as a small child, despite us not really knowing how it worked. Thank you Nintendo! Can't wait to play these.
It's kind of amazing there were still any black box NES games that weren't already on the service. (Outside of Popeye and the NES Zapper games which just won't work on modern devices).
I appreciate that you're doing a big wave of these rather than dribbling them out.
Popeye would not be a problem anymore as we've seen Goldeneye, Turok, and Quest for Camelot appear on the service.
Still waiting patiently for Faxanadu
Yes!
I unironically love Urban Champion (seriously, I've always had a ton of fun with it) and I've never played Mach Rider, so this is a great update.
I like Urban Champion too, people like to hate on it too much, because fansite NintendoLife likes to bash it...
Yaya, I can finally learn math after many years, thanks nintendo for adding Donkey Kong Jr. Math
oh man loved playing Solar Jetman
Fun Fact: The Donkey Kong Country 3 for GBA had a minigame based on Cobra Triangle.
You’re telling me Golf wasn’t already on there?
Your telling me you have any interest in NES Golf?
@@koolaid33 and you don’t? It’s NES Golf.
Finally! I get to play a great golf game… and for free 🤩
@@koolaid33yes, nes golf is fun
@@koolaid33stop judging other people's opinions
DK Jr Math followed by two folks pretending to not be fighting outside the “Snack” Bar, though.
Why did it take you so long to put Golf on NSO? I remember when it came free with the Switch
I have no clue same with Mach Rider and Urban Champion
Hidden unofficially as an Easter egg tribute to Iwata.
It could be said that this update is like a Book End to the Switch's life cycle. It's final years are upon us.
@@Yarott75 Book End? Then this is the worst ending to a mediocre book I've ever seen.
@@koolaid33bro calm down according to the leaks there's a few more months till it releases.
Those Rare Ltd games just keeps coming and coming and i like it! Hopefully we can get Banjo-Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Killer Instinct Gold and Conker soon too.
I swear this update is basically Nintendo thinking "OH GOD! We need to add some more NES games to promote Nintendo World Championships! Uh... THROW IN THE FUNNI MONKEY MATH GAME!"
The actual reason is 7 games to mark the end of the ongoing 40th anniversary of the Famicom celebration this month (on July 7th).
If that’s the reason, then they should’ve added 7 Grand Dad
Give us first gen Pokémon cowards!
Agreed but also localize Pokemon Green plz
Tell the PkMn company
Lol that's cute that you think Nintendo would actually listen to their fans
Ok
Nah I want 2nd or 3rd
Been wanting Cobra Triangle on here for so long, one of the quintessential NES games, IMO. Solar Jetman is quite fun, as well.
Everybody gangsta until OG Pokémon red and blue and yellow gets added to Gameboy Switch online
Whoever was playing Golf was KILLING IT
I think an Eagle was almost scored, pretty damn close
The face that we're getting Atlantis no Nazo, one of the formative early Nintendo games in 2024 is absolutely wild. Maybe we can get Challenger next?
We already had it was region locked like many nintendo online titles
2:35 Imagine the idea of being so CHAD that you rather prefer to solve your problems by yourself with your fists instead of calling the police. Only in 80's man, only in the 80's
Cobra Triangle was the first NES game I owned as a kid.
Ah yes DK Jr Math, the game everyone wanted
To this day I always wonder why no one has made a modern day Solar Jetman, its gameplay is timeless and still fun to play.
Yo, Solar Jetman!! That was my jam as a kid! Still got the NES and the cart! Big win, everyone play it!
Yeah, having Solar Jetman and Cobra Triangle in the same update made this a winning month for me
Donkey Kong Jr. Math is more of a mini-game for a Donkey Kong game.
well sure, but it *was* released on its own cartridge, so...
It's a calculator app for the NES. You'd get more fun out of the calculator app on your smartphone, and more use too.
OMG! Solar Jetman! Played that game back in the day.
Donkey kong Jr math is my favorite game of all time. I'm so happy that Nintendo finally brought it to NSO. One of the most neglected franchises of all time.
I want to see Donkey Kong Jr show up in the next Donkey Kong game as DK's nerdy uncle. (If DK is Cranky's grandson either DK is DK Jr's son or DK Jr's brother's son, and I like the latter because "monkey's uncle" jokes write themselves). Have DK Jr be a famous mathematician.
Press X to Doubt
Cap
Donkey Kong JR Math and Urban Champion in the same update has GOT to be one of the Funniest things I’ve ever seen
They have their fans. I kinda like Urban Champion, but it's better with 2-players.
Nintendo, what else can you say but just Nintendo.
@@koolaid33 im a huge fan of Urban Champion and i think its better than something like Donkey Kong 64
Golf and Urban Champion, I loved those games back in the day
I can't be the only one experiencing a Mandela effect from golf just now being added
Also funni monke math game lol
It's not a Mandela effect. Golf was on the Switch, but not in NSO. Its code was added in an update when Satoru Iwata died, since he'd been the one to code the Golf game. Accessing it pretty much had to be done by "unofficial" means, though supposedly it could be done by mimicing one of Iwata's gestures from old Nintendo Directs with the Joycons on July 11th (the anniversary of the day he passed away.) They added it in secret so that a piece of him would be with every console shipped, and also as something of a lucky charm... like he was watching over the company and its new console.
@@croaxleigh I know that now thanks to @pitvabackla8403's comment but what I probably remember was NES tournament golf? Thanks for the reply, anyway.
I will never tire of the NES 👍🏻
Neither will I. My childhood sure was calling to me!
It has been a very long time since we got a game catalog that only shows NES games.
While watching this at the Donkey Kong Jr Math part I just realized this is half of how I do my Sacred Geometry Calculations except without the Ape climbing around the numbers.🤣
Now I can play Golf on the current Switch firmware, and just in time for July 11!
?
Another fun fact, the golf courses in this game were later remade for Wii sports, albeit flipped I believe
After years of having NES Golf programmed in the Switch's firmware, it's finally playable to the masses.
Urban Champion! This game since when I was a kid!
Oh, cool. They made a game based on that Mach Rider song from Smash Bros.
In place of Solar Jetman, Cobra Triangle and Mystery Of Atlantis, Japan gets Shin Onigashima, Gomoku Narabe Renju and Mahjong.
I want Shin Onigashima too... 🥺💗
Now we need kung fu on August
Or it's arcade counterpart "Spartan-X" on Arcade Archives.
@@beauwalker9820 and also we need tempest And Popeye for arcade archives
@beauwalker9820 It had the name Kung Fu Master in arcades.
It's loosely based on the movie Wheels on Meals, but we've seen some licensed stuff recently, so it's not out of the question.
Irem's games seem to be in limbo, so not sure on kung-fu master. And Popeye is held up due to licensing from King Features.
Aside from Mach Rider and Golf, why were any of these chosen over so many better possible choices?
Fans: *NINTENDO, GIVE US MOTHER 3, BANJO-TOOIE, SMASH 64, DK 64, DIDDY KONG RACING AND THE FIRST GEN PÓKEMON GAMES, P L E A S E!*

Cobra Triangle! Awesome game, this gameplay didn't do it justice at all :(.
Great, the most hardest game in DK series history. Mathematics!
I know someone's been waiting to get a Switch just for NES Golf.
The fact we got DK Jr. Math before DK64 is actually pretty humorous, not gonna lie.
Nintendo being Nintendo 😅😂
You could argue that Jr. Math is better than 64, and I would mostly agree.
*I need D.K. Jr. Math in my life.*
Urban champion!! Nostalgia coming at lightning speed 😭😭🚨🚨
Mach Rider and Urban Champion... My body is ready jajajaja.
Great NES drop. Now just add the zapper games and the collection will feel complete to me first party wise.
How they gonna replicate the zapper tho? WIth gyro i guess?
@@Drilbit Joy cons and pro controlers have infrared sensors so it is possible, it's going to be the aiming that's going to be the problem.

@@Drilbit Yes. That's exactly what they did when they ported NES Zapper games to the Wii U.
@@Drilbitgyro is pretty good, it's at least possible in theory if they could overlay a target which follows the gyro then it could work 🤷♂️they got kirby tilt and tumble on the NSO Gameboy app working with the gyro.
Donkey Kong Jr. Math for NES is an educational video game.
I swear we had golf already
We have NES Open Tournament. Which is the same engine but has Mario and *maybe* new courses, not sure on that second one.
Oh ok
No they used to have golf as an easter egg if you did a hand gestor. but they removed that years ago.
DK jr. Math was an odd game but a fun game to play with a friend. I discovered this game from Animal Crossing on GameCube.
Dang, so many NES classics here! Mach Rider, Urban Champion, Donkey Kong Jr. Math- wait, DONKEY KONG JR. MATH?!
Yeah, wasn't expecting that game to ever be officially acknowledged again, let alone given a rerelease. 0.0
finally Mach Rider, Golf, and Urban Champion.
Fun fact, you might remember Cobra Triangle reskinned in Donkey Kong Country 3 GBA.
That's exactly what I thought
Nothing super exciting to play, but still classic games that should be preserved and available to try 👍
And I can finally get my revenge on Cobra Triangle, could never beat that as a kid.
Urban Champion was inevitable knowing Nintendo. The real surprising thing is the fact it took them this long!
Honestly, all the black box NES games should of been released first.
WE FINALLY GOT MACH RIDER THANK YOU NINTENDO 😭😭😭😭
I swear, I thought Urban Champion was on NSO already.
Shockingly enough, it wasn't. Should've been added like, 3 years ago or so.
@stonertheespeon2975 But I guess Nintendo wanted to add the more well-known NES games before that.

They forgot to add one more game of NES is Mighty Final Fight too.
Where are the old days of Nintendo 😢

Day 106 of demanding a new Star Fox
Maniac Mansion,Battle of Olympus, The original Dragon Warrior(NES) Road Rash 2 or 3 and X-Men the arcade game (Genesis) would be a lot of fun for me. I would love to see at least a few of these end up in the library but even one would be very cool.

There was an Arcade Archives: VS Urban Champion already, but that was the Nintendo VS Version.
