The fact that Link's Awakening DX, both Oracle games, AND Minish Cap are coming makes me so happy. I was worried it would never happen.
Now they just need to add Four Swords Anniversary Edition from DSiWare and we’re made in the shade. And sure, why not, the Freshly Picked Tingle and Ripened Tingle games too!
I recently bought them on the Wii U and 3DS as a safe guard. I feel dumb about it now but I guess you can't blame me for being paranoid.

Nintendo takes their sweet time with making older games available on new platforms but they DO eventually do so. Unlike others, they take pride in their history and know these old games still hold up.

This is why I like Nintendo adding old systems to their online service. I have no interest in subbing myself but I like that it will get young people to try out old games that I played as a kid.

I'm honestly glad that you're doing this, I think it's an important part of your history and shouldn't be left in the past to die. Short, simple and sweet, that's what games used to be and they have an audience. Bring back Pokemon and offer online trading/battles, I think you'll blow the roof off of this project.

Superstar Saga is a game that will always be very close to my heart. I was so young when I played it on the GBA and I love everything about it. Thank you for bringing this game to a new generation.

I'm 43 and I've been gaming since my toddler years on my late father's Atari 2600... and never looked back. The first game I beat was a Game Boy game (Super Mario Land). My heart will always be with the NES, Game Boy and SNES.
This was the highlight of the Direct for me. As soon as this was available I played Super Mario Land 2, Kirby's Dream Land and Gargoyle's Quest (truly a hidden gem is Gargoyle's Quest). What a trip back through time. I have 2 words for Nintendo: THANK YOU!!!

Legend of Zelda Minish Cap was a gem of a game when I was young, and the fact I'll be able to play it again after losing the game cartridge years ago makes me so happy.

This opens the door for Pokemon ruby, sapphire, emerald, fire red and leaf green to be officially released via emulator and even potentially compatible with Pokemon home for migration. Very excited for the future
Would be cool, but if Nintendo released the older Pokémon games, chances are they may make them eShop purchases so they can keep trades fair and prevent cloning and cheating by ensuring players cannot use suspend points and rewind.

No way! This is what I wanted to see on the Switch! GB Color and Advance! So far, this is a start and I'm very pleased with these results. Hopefully they add other games that aren't Nintendo mascot characters

Sucks that you have to have the expansion pack to play gba games and it's weird not seeing a mainline pokemon game on there (unless Nintendo plans on talking about them in the pokemon presents later this month). Other than that, it's great these games are finally coming to switch online and I wonder if GameCube is next for September's direct

I remember buying a GBC as my first new system in stores. Bought Wario Land 3 with it and played the crap out of that game. True nostalgia there for me. All the GBA games bring back sooo many memories too. Especially Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. Amazing game.

This is great! If they add Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal to this, I hope they update Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 to allow transfers by adding a transfer pak app in the future.
If they go as far as Crystal, I hope they do the same thing they did with the 3DS and use the modified ROM they made that activates the Celebi quest when you beat the game.

@@evenmorebetter Yup, it's (currently) the only way to get legit Celebi in Home, and modern games.
You can shiny hunt it, too, because Legendaries weren't shiny-locked in Gen 2.
Beat Crystal, do the Celebi quest, and you can use Pokemon Transporter to send it to Bank, and then Pokemon Bank to send it to Pokemon Home.
Works with the Shiny one, too. I know that for a fact because I did it a month before they announced the recent Shiny Celebi giveaway. I was a bit peeved at that, shiny odds in Gen 2 are lower than they are now. At least, I'm pretty sure they are.
GEN 1, 2 AND 3 ON SWITCH ONLINE WITH POKÉMON HOME SUPPORT WOULD BE AWESOME. !!

How cool to see a form of gameplay like game & watch that is simple and creative and we are left wanting to know what takes creativity to the next level with something so simple.
Donkey Kong from game & watch what a cool little game and Tetris makes us want to make as many different lines as possible from the popular mini games of the time.
At least they opened the door on the library of games that will be added later. What really would’ve been the cherry on top is Mother 3. That game deserves more love.

The e-reader levels of Mario 3 will live on... I was super fascinated by them back in the day during childhood so it's amazing that SMA4 is a launch title of GBA NSO. It's the closest we've had from having an original 2D Mario post SM64 before NSMB DS. This release will surely increase the e-reader levels' reach, and hopefully people end up Speedruning them too.

As one who collected the cards in the past (still have them & a functioning e-reader too), I have something very exciting to say. When they released, not every level was available. They stopped at only 2 waves if cards, so the levels, as well as special items & features, were limited to only them. But after seeing the cape again, along with 2 levels I've never seen/played before, this is a welcome sight.
P.S. I didn't buy it for the Wii U yet. And now that it's coming to the NSO Expansion Pack, I won't need too. Giving me more space on my Wii U for other games.

I suppose the switch's limit is gba and n64 games for emulation, nds games perhaps too.
I imagine that for switch 2 they'll space out the additions and more powerful hardware could allow for Gamecube, nds and 3ds, maybe even wii, making nintendo switch online a library of sorts.

- Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland
- A Link to the Past + Four Swords (pls let people play this amazing game again!!!)
Also special mention goes out to these titles:
- Wario Ware Twisted (Tilt'n'Tumble worked and this on did NOT release in Europe)
- F-ZERO Climax (The Best GBA F-ZERO Game and it never released outside of Japan)
I know the Retro Titles are not the main focus of the Company!

There's just SO MUCH more that this service had yet to include that it continues to make the closure of the Wii U and 3DS eshops that much more aggravating and then some.

The GBA emulator was the thing that finally hooked me into buying the expansion pack, I never really got too play and GBA games and I thought: "hey, my payment for my Nintendo membership is coming up, might as well get the expansion pack with it if they finally put GBA games on it, I'll also get some Nintendo 64 games and some other stuff out of it too."
It's almost been a year and the have only added 6 games too the GBA emulator, 3 of them were games we could already play (the mario advanced series), like im giving you money so I can legally play your games, but no, your Nintendo, cant have more than 6 games on launch, that would be wayyy too much for our fans.
And you may be saying: "you should be more grateful, Nintendo is actually giving us what we wanted," my guy, we could easily get what we wanted through emulation or heck, the real thing if u wanted too, but no, we just have too wait for Nintendo to just toss us a bone as they twiddle their thumbs making remakes of games that already exist.
Oh yea, the N64 emulator just flat out sucks, but everyone knew that, and most of the other things that are included I can just buy individually instead of paying $60 a year on them.
I wasn't expecting the whole GBA library, but oh my god I wasn't expecting this amount of laziness either, almost a full year, 6 games, (technically 3).
Nintendo is only good at making games, not marketing, not appealing too their audience, not making consoles that can't even run pong, just their games.
I hate this company, im going back too the $20 subscription, screw you and your crappy emulation skills.
Definitely looking forward to the Oracle games. Had those on my list for awhile.

The game boy has always been my favorite console of all time. Everything about it from how simple it is to the awesome boot up noise. I feel young again.
Fun fact, it was inspired by a guy messing around with a pocket calculator.

GBA because it can play all of GB/GBC except Tilt'n'Tumble.
But GBA was great largely because of SNES/NES ports. I don't think we'll see non-Nintendo JRPG's or ports on GB/GBA onlone.
Golden Sun and Fire Emblem are still awesome, but I would love to see Tactics Ogre.
I hope this is a step in the right direction to getting Golden Sun 4 or a remaster on Switch
Looking forward to the Oracle games. I hope I am able to finish Seasons this time around. The cool thing is that on the Switch, we are not bound to the small screen. It is like having the GameBoy Player on the Game Cube yet again (y).
We do hope there will be bug fixes, and the GS Ball and Old Sea Chart events being implemented in Pokémon Crystal and Pokémon Emerald. The old games should be released as eShop games.

Super Mario Land 2 was the first game I ever played. I haven't been able to play it for over 20 years. I'm about to cry.

As a Mother 3 enthusiast I must inform you that we may never rest until we finally receive our beloved.
You can play it on an emulator (modded with english) on your phone but you want nintendo to acknowledge it because otherwise youwill never get mother 4 ?
@@monkeygameplay5455 99.9% of people that want Mother 3 don't want Mother 4, Mother 3 is the ending of the trilogy. We want it on the switch because it's an amazing game that should be acknowledged, so that more people that don't know about it get to play it. Also, playing it with delay on your phones small screen is much more different than playing it on your TV.

It’s my favorite game of all time, and I’ve learned that I’m frustratingly stubborn about hoping for the best.
I think something inside me knows it’s not happening, but I couldn’t help from freaking out internally lol

Zelda the minish cap is honestly one of the best games I’ve ever played on my GBA. I had the golden Zelda edition GBA SP and I played that game so much!
I would love it if you started making the original GBA or GBA SP’s again with better screen and headphone output. I’d buy it instantly. I’d buy the cartridge games too. Experiencing that era of games with an updated GBA would be so amazing!
If you seen some of the modded and updated game boy advances out there it would blow your mind
I'm just glad that Golden Sun and Fire Emblem are coming. Golden Sun is probably the best handheld JRPG (Pre-Xenoblade)
And guess what? Minish cap was on the 3DS...FOR FREE WITHOUT A CORRUPTED SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE

Tetris could after the last level lower some of the level randomly, maybe insert a modification for voice when it makes 4 lines of characters from the Nintendo universe.
Think it's really cool to play with games made in dots, it seems more relaxing to the eye.
Could even have a game in black and white and only show the color of objects or items when it really matters.
Love that Golden Sun is coming, although a stand alone re-release would have been great but still fantastic.
The Game Boy was my first game system back in the day and I’m so excited to be able to play these games again 😊

I'm so happy that they made this! Metroid fusion and Zelda minish cap, tetris I've all been waiting for forever! I would get the expansion pack if it wasn't so expensive. But maybe once I get the OLED for Christmas this year I might get this
Do these games need to be always online? can’t i download them and play them offline?

I'm really hoping mother 3 will eventually be added to the list of GBA games. Even though it's extremely unlikely. The moment mother 3 is announced, I'll buy the expansion pass.
It really is baffling how many people have wanted Mother 3 for years, but Nintendo doesn't want their money.

Have they ever released it outside of Japan? IIRC no so they'd need to translate it
@@OCV102 they released Puyo Puyo and Psycho Dream on the emulators, so I don't think that would be a problem. Even if it is just raw, untranslated game play, it's still the game.
@@bluebaron6811 Those two games have very little text to work with and are not text dependent, so anyone can get into them easily. Mother 3 has a lot of text, so a foreigner who knows no Japanese will be doing a lot of guesswork.

The countless hours I pored into the fire emblem series on GBA will forever be some of my most favorite memories. Now I can play one of them on the TV?! Please take my money.
GB and GBA have rewind as well, so consider Fire Emblem (7) blessed with Divine Pulse.
I really hope they add the Gen 1 and 2 Pokémon games to this
I’ve always wanted to play Yellow, Red, Blue and Green, Gold, Silver and Crystal, plus Fire Red and Leaf Green and Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. Only ever really played from gen 4 and up, so I’d love to be able to play the older games

Both the American and Japanese version of the trailer didn't show Mother 3 at all, it's possible if it were to happen it would release at the same time in it's own announcement

Doubt it. If they didn't release FE4 Genealogy of the Holy War on the virtual Super Nintendo in the West, then they won't do the same for Mother 3.

Yes! This is such great news! I had a feeling this would happen, and I'm so happy! Thank you Nintendo! I wonder if they will release new Game Boy themed controllers like they did for NES, SNES, N64, and Genesis. Maybe they'll even add a Super Gameboy mode.

@@keijijohnson9754 True. I never had a Wii, Wii U, or 3DS, so I never got to experience the Virtual Console. I went straight from GameCube to Switch. I wish they could keep both VC and Switch Online available at the same time. Personally, I'd rather pay less than $5 a month to play hundreds of games rather than pay $5 for each one, unless there was only a small handful of games I want to play.
Just what I been waiting for. Now I can finally play one of my favorite Gameboy advance games again. I love the Gameboy advance era. 🙂

Inasmuch as I'd love the main series to be a part of the service, if they do appear on the Switch, I believe they be released as standalone games to be purchased. They were constantly the top selling title in the 3DS VC, so that way would make them more money (and Pokemon Bank compatible). Sadly, money usually wins. But $10 or $12 to play LeafGreen on the go and transfer my Pokémon to Violet? I'd pay for it in a heart beat
