As a black woman, JAMAICAN, I had the same kind of concerns going into Istanbul, Turkey, but when I went to buy m th visa at a counter at in the airport (u$30 for 3mons) it took me LITERALLY 30 seconds and then I went to immigration and all she asked was, how long will you be staying? I told her 2 days and I was out in less than 1 min....
WHEN I WAS LEAVING was a whole other story, I was going to Germany and from there home to JAMAICA, the gentleman doing the check to get me on the flight decided that I was suspicious, I didn't have a visa for Germany because as a JAMAICAN I am allowed 24-48 hours in transit, I was just there to get on a flight and leave, I showed him my itinerary and he told me to have a seat to the side, he then got on his radio and started calling God knows who, for for what.... let's just say I WAS THE LAST PERSON to get on the flight AND EVEN THEN, HE CAME ON THE PLANE, delaying the flight a bit just to talk to me and check my passport AGAIN, he took pictures of EVERY PAGE, and called ahead to Germany .
Happy to report no mishaps in Germany.
I was coming from Ukraine where I had spent 3 months so I don't know if that affected anything (my daughter goes to university there).

I went to Israel but now I wish I went to Oman or Jordan, but that's okay, another time I'll go hopefully. Israel really does have a kind of settlement/colony feel, even though that can be nice and interesting and all, but it's kind of unsettling, and it's really touristy and super expensive, I got a vodka orange juice at a bar and it was like $25 USD. And the Bedouin place I went to was super touristy and fake there. But it does have Jerusalem, which although was touristy was very cool to see for sure. But Jordan has the Dead Sea, AND has Petra. I hope you have a wonderful time! Also, I went to Egypt and Bahrain. Loved those places as well.

As a middle-eastern Palestinian diaspora living in the gulf, it really sucks to see how many people misunderstand the point in these videos. As a Palestinian, I don't hold any resentment against you for visiting Israel because I know that your journey and mission has nothing to do with politics and it is your right to explore your lineage and history as an African and no one should take away your right from that. I think this maturity of thinking comes from diasporas/refugees because we deeply understand the need for exploration and understanding - even if it makes you cross a controversial countries borders. You are inspiring. Thank you for showing all of this footage and being brave enough to make these videos despite knowing how sensitive the situation is. Thank you again for being a great listener to the Palestinians you met and I wish one day that I can also visit my native Palestine and see how it feels to live among my own people.

Definitely feel you, my Brotha! One correction, If you are Black American or African American as I define myself, and only I will define myself, no one else gets that right, you will still be treated differently from non Black travelers. I experienced that disparate treatment when entering London coming from Netherlands, and even more so leaving Ireland to come back to the US. I traveled for a medical conference. Trust me, it was ABSOLUTELY clear that British and American TSA did not see me as a physician, but as a Black man. That was very, very clear. Black Africans, as WE ALL ARE, are treated differently. Though I must say, Dutch TSA was very kind, polite and cordial, in my experience.

My first trip they asked some personal question, I answered truthfully I had been in and out Israel many times since. I am African born in Cameroon raised in CAR
I was last year in Israel on family trip we had great time. Israel is like salad you can always find someone you related to.

As an Israeli I'd like to explain everyone who goes through Ben gurion gets questioned they ask the types of questions one very general normal question second a more specific question then a third random but usually very personal question this third question is just to catch you by surprise to see if you are lying in general as it is harder to answer those questions on the spot they then give you a number 1-5 and depending on your number that is how much of a "security threat" you are considered to be

It's the Palestinians who get the full weight of questioning and interrogation, way more than any non-Palestinian black man. Arabs get way worse treatment than Africans or blacks with Christian names at the Israeli airport. You said it yourself for you it took 3 minutes in customs, for a Palestinian it's 10 plus hours interrogation and insults. But you seemed to have learned after this videoclip that Palestinians in occupied Palestine face more racism and actual apartheid than any people in the world right now including Africans.

They make Subsaharien Africans take HIV/AIDS test in some cases. How many months do you think an African visitor to Europe/America gets? Above all u are treated like Kings/Queen once on African soil. No one is treating you like a drug dealer or immigration fraud. Check with your African friends IF u have any.

@Rich T I am sorry if you have ever had a horrible experience in Africa but please don't compare the experience Africans go through to the experience of a Westerner at an African border, it is genuinely unfair and unreasonable to do so. Even if an African secures a visa to travel, the "emotional tax" at the hands of immigration officers at the border is oftentimes unimaginable.

Maybe the disdain is still there for black Americans because they are black, but because they are Americans they go easier on them because of who they represent.

Among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Verily, in that are signs for people of knowledge.
    Surat al-Rum 30:22
Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Verily, Allah Almighty created Adam from a handful which He took from the earth, so the children of Adam come in accordance with the earth. Some come with red skin, white skin, or black skin, and whatever is in between: thin, thick, dirty, and clean.

I am Portuguese (white) and I have always been asked those questions and many more and even been patted down when I enter Israel. I have a Jewish friend who was born in Israel and is an Israeli citizen, and she has also been asked similar questions. They do it to most people coming in to Israel, especially if you are a solo traveler or look like you fit the profile of someone who might not be completely truthful with them. There's no racist agenda behind what they do. Their aim is to keep Israel safe, and trust me, you will feel safe at all hours of the day or night in Israel.

Antonio Ramos I do not think people’s comments that you’re reading are concerning the immigration even though, as some have said here, it often goes badly in the airport. People are referring more so to Israel itself as racist. The fact that they simply took land that did not belong to them whatsoever. Look it up, Israel was just “made up” out of thin air merely 60 years ago.
During South Africa’s Apartheid, many people claimed that it was normal and the black people were just crying victim blah blah just like they’re now doing the Palestinians. Just boggles the mind how many people are simply not decent human beings.

      Thanks for the question.
I can write hundred pages here but will be very brief.
For me it was baby steps. I've seen my dad since I was a baby running around between different West African countries for business, and did not hesitate to send me away to Middle East to boarding school when I was a teenager, from there I will go to Europe every summer to backpack around by train and buses. And it became part of my routine since. When I became an adult I moved to Paris for study, live there for awhile, moved to London also for study, lived there for a long while, and moved to the USA meanwhile still travel once or twice a year every year till today, and always solo :)

He even just went away with my passport and came back 15 mins later with another worker, they really seemed to have a problem with me. On my flight back it was even worse. Just on the security checks for flights to Germany they controlled every single detail themselves. So they inspected every single thing in your bag ( clothes, food, even gum or my charger) if it's a bomb🤦🏽‍♂️ They needed for 12 people nearly one hour and had 2 security check lines and at least 6 workers on it. Luckily after the security check I just got away but others needed to stay and got asked a lot of questions. So I don't think it's because of the race they just do it with anyone.

You could be absolutely right about your comments about your color or that of the Africans for that matter and yes true of the double ` top of being Muslim. Having said that , however, you are most popular among the white women, if do not know it take my word, I witnessed black men swarmed by white girls like flies.

Reading some of the comments, and wow! But I'm just curious as to what would make a black person want to go to Israel? I've seen how they've treated Ethiopians, and I know their part in the slave trade (not all, but there's trust issues there). So what is the lure? Just because you can? As an Afican American my goals are the continent of Africa. But Africans are trying to leave. I get it, mostly about finances. Go see the world, make some dividends, but go back home where your people need you to continue to build your nation's. But again, what's in Israel? I'd rather invest my money in visits to african nations because it's most needed there, and I would learn so much more.

Blacks get more respect in Israel than any arab country. I am east african, and we know for sure for thousands of years those were one of the 12 tribes of israel, so they just went back to where their ancestors lived.
