Khal or khali means uncle. Because we believe in ancient times, African people are cousins or uncle (brother of my mother)
Asmar means brown or tanned skin

I truly appreciate the time you took to feature parts of Saudi Arabia. It was informative and quite interesting. I was glad to see a more positive spin on Saudi Arabia simply because the negatives seem to be the narrative. I have to admit that I was surprised to see many blacks ( sorry if I'm being politically incorrect) in Saudi. I am aware of many people of different cultures who reside there especially those who are employed by contracts. I intend to watch your videos on Palestine simply because once again the narrative seems to be negative. Continue your videos and by all means ignore the trolls. Once again thank you for sharing your work on this platform. Many blessings to you.

Did you know that the Gulf Khalij Music is essentially rooted on East African bantu rhythms? I wish you can do something in Baharain and Qatar and the pearl diving history. There is a very active young Afro Saud community on instagram ....who are interested in connecting with blacks in all the African diaspora and Africa

I'm white British and have been living in Saudi for 18 years and khala (female of khali ) is a term of respect from a younger generation to address someone older but you like. Because khala or khali is the sister of your mum or brother of your mum. And usually you are closer to your mum's family so being called khala or khali is not about being black

From America, I just want to say thank you. Forgive Americans, especially the Israelite flavor, because we are overly zealous with a fire. This can have the opposite effect on cultivating understanding which is deeply needed to connect with each other. However, I think they have the means to do so and know more about their ancestors, history, African tribes, and The black people in the diaspora.

Mandingo in America can also just mean a big, Strong Black man. I'm black American and that's what I was told growing up. My dad's family would say, "we're Mandingos. That's our African tribe," even though we really have no idea what tribes our ancestors belonged to, Mandingo was thought to be big and strong. The large "man parts" aspect hopefully dies off, because it's derogatory and reduces an entire ethnic group down to a sexual organ. I'm tired of the hypersexualization of Black folks.

Good question about which tribe of Mandingo the (Mandinka singular ) (Mandingo plural) (Mande the country or land) mainly live in savannah landlock even though they had seasonal land near the sea (Gambia ) they used to come back after harvest in the mainland Niani which is in mali now. After the Mandingo civil war, the coalition of all Mandingo, tribes, and allies created the empire of mali which become a reference for all of us.
Mandingo were farmers and obsessed with the freedom even to have a king they had to draw a chart so the leader don't think he is better than the rest of the people he was indeed selected and brought from exile to be crowned as king of all Mandingo Sundiata Keita the chart is called ( chart of kulukanfuga).
long story short slave the catchers with the help of a known tribe used to catch those seasonal workers usually by setup or surprise brought them to the Americas
here is the movie we did about the creation of the empire of mali

Saudis usually dont refer themselve by their skin colour even white people. Calling a white person Ya Abyad (White) can also be considered a derogatory term in Saudi Arabia. People in Arabia like to be refered by their tribes or families.

The American Afro community is unique in a negative way, since of all the immigrants into this country, they are the only people without any identity. They have only their American identity, which given the past history is not very... They cannot relate with the other African diaspora, due this very same reason. All others have their origins, while American Blacks have non. On the other hand they are the only true Americans. with no other identity, they derive theirs from being Americans .
Mandingo were farmers and obsessed with the freedom even to have a king they had to draw a chart so the leader don't think he is better than the rest of the people he was indeed selected and brought from exile to be crowned as king of all Mandingo Sundiata Keita the chart is called ( chart of kulukanfuga).
long story short slave the catchers with the help of a known tribe used to catch those seasonal workers usually by setup or surprise brought them to the Americas
here is the movie we did about the creation of the empire of mali

if the Arabs call a black Asmar it's because they have the idea that Blacks don't like being qualified by their skin color yet. which is true in the past in western countries. It is a proof of politeness and of living together. it is not as some people believe that the word black is derogatory among Arabs.
today the Blacks of america and europe are not offended when they are called Black, many are proud of it, but the Arabs live far from these countries ( Western cultures), so they are not aware of it.
In North Africa, they use the word Kahlouch (which means a black person), but black people in France, believe that this word is derogatory, and they are angry for it.
But also, if an Arab is whiter than the norm (like a European), the North Africans call him Ash-hab (fem. Shahbaâ or Sahbaâ), which means they don't consider themselves Whites.
In North Africa, they do not use Asmar to designate the Blacks of the country, but Brothers of the South, or the people of the South.how are these Arabs going to satisfy everyone lol

    • @omarmafia234
      @omarmafia234 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Exactly, unfortunately arabs have been influenced a lot by american movies that we became too self-conscious about how should we act with black people because we do not want to sound offensive. The main root for this, is when watching american movies and when someone is being racist and calling a black person the N word or smth, the arabic subtitles try to find words to translate the insults and it was usually translated to "Zengi" or "Aswad", so we just started subconsciously thinking that these arabic words were racists, although if you look in arabic literature the words never had racist connotations and the word "Zengi" for example was usually used to describe a "strong man"

From India. Just want to share a bit of siddi history. There was a Siddi kingdom in the state of Maharashtra, founded by Mallik Amber Siddi. Sometime in the 14th century. Though reduced greatly through time, a part of it lasted till 1947, when it was integrated into India.

    • @ocs748
      @ocs748 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@roz57 The difference between the American and other African diaspora, is that the former were deliberately deprived of their root identities. This can in result in a lot of trauma subconsciously. This is very very conspicuous in India. There are three groups of Siddis here, in the states of Gujarat, Karnataka and the city of Hyderabad. The Siddis of Karnataka were slaves brought by the Portuguese, and they have no memory of their origins, while the Siddis of Gujarat were people who came here as traders, soldiers or craftsmen who moved with the armies, have some memories. The Gujarat Siddis have their original village names as their surnames. The Hyderabad Siddis are more recent arrivals as soldiers and know more about their original identities than most.
However there were many more Siddis, who came to India than their present population reflects. Wonder what happened to them?

Hello brother, i’m Saudi & i just came across your vlog so i would like to state that you are most welcome in Saudi Arabia. I also want to highlight the meaning of (Takroni), as we say it doesn’t mean insulting in bad or dirty way, it’s simply means (Backfire) so we usually use it when we refer to a guy who is easily got angry or crazy as fast as it goes. For example:- when someone got backfire , we say let him he is Takroni or he got Takran which means he is easy to backfire. Anyway, Takroni is not abusive word. Sorry to explain that long, and i do repeat that you are most welcome in Saudi Arabia. Keep it up and may ALLAH bless all of us. ✌🏻peace and love😘🌹A. AlShihri form south of KSA. Ciao ✋🏻😌

means Uncle especially from the mother side
because the father brother (uncle) in Aarabic have a different word
    (عم)
    so
the uncle from the mother side = خال = khaal
the uncle from the father side = عم = aam
we in Saudi Arabia and the gulf in general call the black man (khaal) if it's not by his name.
