- On this episode, we're eating some traditional Korean foods in the less explored side of Lidcombe! Lidcombe has, in my perspective, slowly developed into Sydney's new Koreatown and we tried some incredible food today like mandu, jokbal, bibimmyeon and other Korean snacks! Come with us as we explore THREE different local places to eat Korean food!
And we have a special guest, Sally Sitou! The federal representative for Reid where Lidcombe is located and a very inspirational Asian Australian who grew up in the same area as me!
Places we visited:
(1) Sunshine King Dumpling Lidcombe
21 John St, Lidcombe NSW 2141
Order: Prawn mandu (dumplings), pork bun, red bean bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry), kkwabaegi (twisted donut)
(2) O SE O Lidcombe
31 John St, Lidcombe NSW 2141
Order: Jokbal (pork hock) platter, haemul-pajeon (crispy seafood pancake), bibimmyeon (cold spicy noodles), pork mandu, kimchi mandu
(3) Four Seasons Korean Food
Order: Mandu, takeaway banchan (side dishes)

You know that friend who went to Korea once and can't stop talking about it.. that friend is me 😅😂 Hope you guys enjoy the video and get out to try some awesome Korean food!!! 😁
Great job Kevin! Sally is so down to earth and likeable. She could be a back up for Melissa Leong as a judge on Masterchef hahaha Loved this video
She definitely could 😂 it was a pleasure to eat with her!
Now, that's a down to earth federal pollie. Great stuff. Love all these reviews, but now I'm hungry ... 🙂 Cheers PP
Thanks for watching PP!
Such an enjoyable vid Kev! Sydney Food Boy + Western Syd + multicultural food = the best kind of vid!
Thanks Chris appreciate ya mate!!!
I wondered when someone would blow the lid off O-se-yo. The mandu and soups are soooo good!
Lidcombe is THE place for Korean nowadays.
Thanks for always appreciating Korean food ❤
Grew up in Lidcombe in the 70's, my best friends were Vietnamese going to Lidcombe Primary. Ming La and Sing La, miss you bros.
Still pass through there quite often and will definitely try based on your recommendations. Sally's smile so infectious - I hope she represents her area with success.
Those fellas have the same surname as me!
@@SydneyFoodBoy I wish I could reconnect with those guys, lost contact when I moved away from Lidcombe in the early 80's. Different time keeping in contact back then.
So awesome to see ya sharing meals with Sally. The food in O Se O is out of this world incredible! Fav joint! Also ssam with raw garlic is the way to go!!!
O Se O is incredible and I can't believe I haven't visited until now! I've known about the place for quite some time though. It's such a lovely and humble joint with the utmost delicious food
Sally is a great MP, glad to see you collaborate.
Thank you for watching! Looking past her MP role, I think she's just an awesome person so it was a joy to have her on the channel!
Aww this was fun.. I love all the Korean food around Lidcombe it looked Delish and Sally was so lovely .you always crack me up with your humour Kev😂 ..Amazing video ..Please do another Korean food vid ..x❤️🥰💕
Thanks always for the kind comments Irena 😁 I'm sure there are many Korean videos to be done in the future!
Loving this. Sitting here drooling. I’m soooo going next week
Hope you eat something delicious!
Sally sitou I can't believe it !! 😊
How come it took so long for me to find your channel!!!!! One of the best things about Sydney isn't the Harbour, but the ethnic restaurants. One of my favourite things to do is to go on a foodie street walk. Like going overseas without the expense of an airfare, and you get to sleep in your own bed. Thanks so much!!
One of my favourite things about Sydney too ❤
DUDE SALLY! Excellent work bro. She is the best
Thanks for watching bro!
Always enjoy your content bro!!
Appreciate the love!!!
wonderful way to spend my sat night
Thanks for watching bro!
Love korean food. Delish. Keep them coming.
One of my top 3 cuisines! :)
Nice vlog Kev.. Sally is my local member..U did K Lidcome justice..My wife always gets those prawn mandu at least once a week from that shop..The fermentation process in Korea used to start in Chuseok ( Autumn harvest) to keep food for the cold winter months but now has become a regular thing in Korea over thousands of years
Thanks mate! Big words coming from you two so much appreciated 🙂 in hindsight should've ordered a soup at Sunshine too, or would've done haejangkook. com if we had crossed the bridge to the other side! It's always so interesting learning about food history.. every food has a story!
You’re a class act Kevin!
Looks really healthy and yummy 😋
Saw Miss Sunshine at the Korean Festival last year but couldn't find out where their store was. Thanks for this. I see a food tour in my future!
Great video, always enjoy watching your shows! Makes me smile and very hungry 👍
Thank you so much Henrik 😁
@@SydneyFoodBoy you are welcome it is always a pleasure to watch your show and inspire us to go try different foods in different places. Keep it up!
Dang! The Korean food scene in Sydney is STRONGGGG! You should just do a compilations of your eating clips kev😂
LOVE THIS
Thanks for watching Andrew!
Lidcombe is such a hidden gem for Korean food! Can you do Campsie next?
I'd love to!
Thank you so much for this video! My husband and I are trying out Korean food in Sydney as well, and your video is just awesome! We now know where we want to go in our next trip!
By the way, would you know where to get the best tteokbokki in Sydney? We only went to "CC Train" in Strathfield so far, so any recommendations will be great!
Thank you 😃
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoy Korean food as much as I do!
Ah tteokbokki is pretty similar most places. Some places do it with cheese, others don't. I've had a good one at Hens Chicken in Strathfield and Momo Foods Lidcombe. The buffet tteokbokki at Dookki is pretty good too
@@SydneyFoodBoy I see! Thank you for taking the time to answer, really appreciate it 😃! We'll definitely add those places on our list!
Thanks again for your content 😁
Awesome
Wow you got Tu Le on!!
That's a grade A joke that only the big brains understand hahaha
Thank you so much for showing my home suburb and what it has going for it now. When I.was a kid growing up there it was all hamburgers and hit bread shops
It's a wonderful place to be! I visit Lidcombe these days more than most other suburbs in Sydney!
Korean food is sooooo sooo nice
This is my first ever comment on a TH-cam video!
Awesome stuff and made me hungry! Haven't tried any of these so definitely will try soon!
I'm commenting while waiting for my Berlin style Doner kebab @ Melrose Park!
Thanks for watching bro 😄😄 glad you loved it and hope you enjoyed the German kebab too!!!
Great video !
Thanks heaps for watching 🙂
Lesgo!! Any recommendations for Liverpool plz g🎉
Sally is a future PM. That's for sure.
Tried the kimchi buns at Sunshine based on this video, and it didn’t disappoint. So good!
Yay glad you enjoyed and thank you for coming back to let me know! Merry Christmas 🙂
Agreed man REDBEAN AND AZUKI BEAN THE BEST!!!!! 🙌🏻
JangA Korean BBQ Lidcombe serve big fillets of Char BBQ Grilled Eel.
And if you’re into Sushi Trains, UOBEI is at Lidcombe Shopping Centre near Woolworths.
Would’ve been great to see them, but perhaps another time if ever worth the revisit.
Good video mate
Thanks Joseph!
Yummm
so nice video
Great episode associating with politicians.
You should try North Strathfield, Myeongdong and Jongro both excellent Korean eateries.
I enjoy your videos every time you post. Can you please upload more regularly? Try south American food or african food please! I don't know of any around the area but it's something which I am curious about
Have a few South American and African food videos on the channel already if you scroll backward! You'll love them if you haven't watched them already. I try my best to post as much as I can!
Wish youd do one with penny wong
Sydney. Good night~ fantastic ,till next time!
Thank you!
I'm with Sally (she's a good sport!).....I swear I'm the only other Asian from anywhere that is not a fan of red bean paste....I'll go one better and say, I don't like bean paste in any form, shape, colour or size......
Another awesome vid Kev, great to see you back again and filming the local yokels!
Me too, I only like lotus seed paste as it is less sweet and subtle. Red bean paste is usually sickeningly sweet
I don't mind a red bean dessert so long as it's not too sweet! There's a red bean dessert they do at Chinese restaurants at the end sometimes which is probably my favourite use of red bean. Thank you so much for watching Caprice!
Oooo I do love a lotus seed paste dessert!
@@SydneyFoodBoy OMG, you're wayyyyyyy better than myself! Of course I'll watch - been following you since the inauguration of your channel. You are one of only two food reviewers I watch, and the bonus is that you give us foodie ideas locally! And you remind my OH and I of our son lol!
I don't even eat lotus seed paste.....omg, I'm an Asian food failure!!!!!@@ylein6508
Is this the korean dumpling special?? hahaha so many dumplings
Turned out to be lol. Planned to order something else at the last place but they had sold out of most at 5pm and turned out mandu was his passion anyway
I live in jhon street XD
COLLAB WITH SPANIAN! ❤
wish i couldve seen you i live in jhon street HELP
Korean Fried Chicken is pretty damn delicious.
It is! I should do a Korean fried chicken video some time!
@@SydneyFoodBoyhonestly, you could do an episode just about Korean fried chicken in Lidcombe.
My Favourite korean fried chicken restaurant in lidcombe was Called Toad Restaurant... unfortunately it closed down during Covid :( .... if anyone knows where they went please tell me ? I want my gf to experience the food
Are you at the wedding?
Not sure this is a good representation of the amazing Korean food in Lidcombe… this was a bit of a let down, over the tracks the restaurants on the other side of Lidcombe imo are much better!
That's your opinion JW and I agree to an extent because I frequent the other side more, but there's incredible food on both sides and for this video (as per the description), we wanted to concentrate on the less-visited side of Lidcombe to show some love to the small businesses this way! Dare I say O se O is my current favourite K restaurant in Lidcombe 🙂
Great video. Not sure why you politized it with the communist party. Could have chosen it with another member of the community.
I like your channel, but has this become political 💁🙏
Nope! I'll be happy to have lunch with anyone who inspires me or does something for the community, nothing to do with politics in this video 🙂 thanks for enjoying the channel though!
I’m with Kevin - she says more about red bean than politics !
I don’t wanna be “that guy” but I feel like the other side of Lidcombe has way better food… 😅😅
This video was made specifically for this side of Lidcombe! I personally agree tho lol! I eat on the other side more
Can I be ur best friend please I could but I coffee every morning
