    I have the Speed Queen washer you feature in your video and we love it. I won't part with it. We drove 20 miles out of town to the only store that sells Speed Queen and it was well worth it.

    We bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer when we purchased out home in 1991. We replaced the washer about 4 years ago after too many horse blankets and saddle pads killed it. We still have the gas dryer. I have had to replace rolling stock and a belt when a tennis shoe stopped the drum on the inside and the motor dutifully burned right through it to complete the cycle. I replaced the igniter once. It's about ready for a rolling stock rebuild which isn't much trouble and I will replace the igniter just because. It will take a couple hours and and about $180 bucks for everything and that isn't too bad for all the service that machine has produced. Now I have to get my original Trane Executive air conditioning system cleaned, lubed, and fired up for this summer.

    I bought my speed queen 9 years ago and I'm still happy. I wanted a machine that was made in the USA and Ripon Wisconsin is my neighbor to the north and laundromats have speed queen washers and they really take a beating and that says a lot about their quality

      Same here. Mine is a 2013 AWN412 with matching dryer. I chose these used units over the new Speed Queen models. Nothing like the latest " old school" technology. LOL Other people in this video comment on rust as in the washer featured in the video. Hey , its just like your car. Wipe up the detergent , bleach, and fabric softener spills and keep it clean. The result......no rust.

      I am beginning to think some of these places that do testing like Consumer Reports, out of all the load loads LG had top 3 out of 4 & I have heard so many problems with them , bad. I had decided that's what I wanted til I read reviews & talked to our local appliance dealer. She knew a hell of alot more than what I read anywhere abt the HE impeller top loads, I had a front loader I loathed so knew I wanted top loader & I like to conserve water & energy but what I didn't know was that even though they have huge tubs even a deep wash only fills up abt 3/4 of the way then I started reading those complaints online abt clothes not getting dry or putting a king comforter in & when done, the impeller was not strong enough to pull the comforter down into water & too was bone dry.
      Speed queed has plenty of water & you can fit comforter in there & agitator will swish & move it around.
      I wnded up getting the TC5 w/5 yr warranty parts & labor which is unheard of in appliance world. So far super happy, & when dryer goes I am replacing it with the speed quees. All the washer bodies prettry much look the sane but SQ is so much better made & it is simple, the more moving parts, the more technologies tou add, the more problems you will have. I don't need to control my washer from grocery store. You should never leave any appliance like that running & always, turn off water when you are done washing. Only takes sec to turn back on

    • @patcola7335
      @patcola7335 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeromedavis8575 I personally don't mind the reversing motors. What I do mind is less user flexibility. Whirlpool needs to stop with the restrictors on their fill valves. Cold water shouldn't take half the day to fill up the tub.
      People should be able to choose a warm rinse if we want that and not be dictated to. This isn't about choice anymore but "what's best" or "greater good"....according to whom ?

    So are a lot of people excited about Speed Queen washers because they wash ‘just as good’ as the older Whirlpool direct drive washers? Is that it because I have only used old Whirlpool washers and never had complaints about clean clothes or it breaking down. The one I have now was built in 2005. Probably the newest one I’ve ever owned (or used for that matter). I replaced the agitator dogs and the lid switch on this one so far. There is a little rust around the bleach filler which has me thinking about replacing it down the line. If the Speed Queens only do “as good of a job” as the old type then I would probably try to find an old rust-free direct drive washer and be happy.

  • @patsmith5947
    @patsmith5947 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The thing I wish they would fix is the fact that the cabinet and lids rust. I had a wonderful Speed Queen set with the stainless steel tubs and it did last 25 years but the lid rusted and it would leak down and ruin your white clothes. Why can’t they cover the lid and the top part with some kind of plastic or porcelain or epoxy coating to prevent the rust. Then they would be perfect.

    • @patcola7335
      @patcola7335 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Speed Queen outer tubs are porcelain so I don't know why they couldn't do it with the tops and lids. I mean they cost enough money as it is.

    Speed queen knows what they're doing. Even when they made the 2018 flop washer, it was still better than anything else on the market and will outlast anything made today.

      @@appliance-insider yeah, I owned a bravos for 8 years. How it even got to be that long without dying is beyond me. But regardless it was a piece of crap that did a mediocre job at best with most loads and if I wanted to get anything thoroughly cleaned it would have to go on a ridiculously long cycle.
      Now I own a ge as when the Maytag died the only speed queens being sold were the 2018 ones.
      The GE can not compare to a direct drive or modern speed queen. But comparing it to the other he machines on the market, it does a decent job. Especially with its deep fill option. But honestly if I could make that choice over, I'd buy a used direct drive washer.
