I’m just watching this today, July 2022.
I have read about what you just said. Speed Queen brought back the older model.
I have never on the speed queen but the washer that I have now that I bought brand new years back now but not 15 years ago anyway the whole box is rusted out. I’ve never seen a washer do such a thing in my life. Where you put the soap, bleach and fabric softener are so rusted out the compartments have fallen in!
I saw someone’s video about how to speed queen is the best because they make so many of the washer and dryers that are in laundromats and they have stood the test of time.
Now I’ll have to just be sure I get the correct model whenever I go to get one!

And Speed Queen screwed Eugene at Lorain Appliance over after he helped customers out. I currently have a SQ, but after they handled their our failure with lies, screwing customers over, and any dealer that warned customers....that's not a company that I want to buy again. The commercial model made by Maytag would be the pick to me, plus it gets a better wash quality than even the good older model SQ.

Just an FYI for everyone watching the "2018 model" is the Speed Queen TR7 (model AWNE9RSN115TW01). I was actually going to do this exact same video myself, glad to see this, and it was actually just recommended to me by the TH-cam algorithm. For those looking I would recommend the Speed Queen TC5 "Classic Queen" for excellent cleaning performance, as it is very similar to the old 2017 model

I was recommended by the delivery guy to clean out the dryer vent that runs through the wall of the house because if it’s clogged up with lint and damages your dryer by over heating, warranty won’t cover the dryer.

Researching these machines here and am glad for this honest demonstration. I do like what I see with the action inside the tub as it's hard to tell what's going on when you go to a store to shop. I will say that if I had a towel stained with ketchup, I would probably treat it separately before putting it in my laundry with something stronger than a tide pod. It's good that nothing bled over to the rest of the laundry.

We purchased the speed queen TR7 and LOVE it. It still cleans better than any other machine out there. The key is using the machine properly - the water flow action does a great job. I've put heavily soiled cottons from yard work, dog bed and liners, comforters, sheets, etc... all came out beautifully. I used the pre-wash and soak for the dog bed and liner and my yard work clothing which was covered with Georgia clay and ground in dirt. The only time I needed to rewash was when we overloaded the machine with clothing and the water flow was restricted.
Clothes come out very clean with less damage because the water is moving through instead of dragging the clothes around. The SQ engineers and scientists know what they're doing.

First, I want to thank you so much for all your honesty! You rock! I watched Kirk's videos and it's obvious that there's a difference between your machine and his. What I believe happened ( and I could be totally wrong on this) is Speed Queen used your unbiased honest reviews of their machine, blacklisted you for it, and then quickly scrambled to tweak the machine so it wasn't as horrible. That's probably why there was such a delay for most dealers to receive the new units. With that said, I'm still sooooo happy that I bought my 2017 based on your reviews because even with all the tweaking that Speed Queen did, I still believe the 2018 is an inferior machine as compared to their previous models! Faster swishing with hardly any rollover isn't going to clean dirty soiled clothing...Now If Speed Queen was an honest upstanding company then they would apologize to you, thank you for testing their machine, refund the money that you paid for your machine, and reinstate you. I would respect them as a company for admitting they were wrong in what they did to you!

      @singsongcindy8865 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

they have made multiple changes to the TR models to improve cleaning efficiency of the "agitub." the 2020 models (which now have different numbering i.e. TR7003 instead of the TR7000 of the older models) have longer wash and rinse cycles. This makes sense because they are basically functioning as HE washers with their gentler washing motion which means 1 hour+ cycles for dirty clothes.
We were able to put men on the moon 50 years ago and cannot come up with functional washers.
      supremely disappointing.

They did, and it works a lot better than any machine I've had before (Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, GE, LG).
The AWN632SP116TW01, product code TC5000WN, has a knob-type electronic control, but all the major workings are carried over.
Eugene's review indicates that the less expensive Maytag "COMMERCIAL" does better in the ketchup test, but how many ax-murderer/slasher movies does the average buyer make? For me, the decision came down to, how many Maytag coin laundries do I see as opposed to how many using Alliance Laundry Systems (Speed Queen, Huebsch, IPSO) machines?
At $1140 delivered and installed, including tax, I expect the SQ to be the last washer I'll ever need to buy.

I had a 2017 model before my house burnt down in the Camp Fire. I had to buy the 2019 model with my new home. I wear a lot of technical cloths made of polyester that holds smell. The 2019 model actually got the smell out completely. The 2017 didn’t. My stains all come out even my white shop towels I use to detail my car. I will say I do use the warm wash warm rinse selection. I just bought a 2018 Speed Queen washer and dryer. Both work so much better than the top of the line front load, Kenmore, washer and dryer that we replaced. I'll bet it works better than any front load you can buy, because they just don't use enough water to get the clothes clean. My Kenmore dryer wouldn't dry clothes quickly. The Speed Queen does great. Both washer and dryer are much faster than the Kenmores. I struggled with this decision to buy the Speed Queen because of this video. My dealer agreed to guarantee my satisfaction or give my money back. He was confident enough with the performance that he did this. I am very pleased with our Speed Queen washer and dryer, and would recommend both.

We bought the TR007 in 2022 and it leaves our kids clothes dirtier. The two-week return period had passed by the time I’d realized it was the machine, not the cycles, soap, loads, etc. Warranties are useless on machines that don’t wash. My first thought when watching this is that
1: there was way too much water in the first one and the towels were barely touching each other and didn’t have as much scrubbing power

3: the soap was less diluted on the 2017 with less water and more scrubbing action

Agreed. This is why the TR7 manual specifically recommends always using the auto-fill option. This was a bad test.
And really, both towels are still tremendously stained. If I had a white shirt with ketchup on it and it came out of the washer like that "cleaner" 2017 towel did, I'd still call it dirty and not wear the shirt. Each washer should be setup properly, hot water, bleach, etc. Then show the results. Otherwise it's not actually a fair comparison.

And since he pointed their failure, they took away his right to sell their products, screwing him and his family over. Other independent stores selling this washer that year, I went to asking them about possible issues with wash quality (long after it was a known issue) and they bold face lied to me telling me that the wash was fantastic with this model. Speed Queen removed bad reviews of the washer on their website. Even deleted bad comments on their Facebook promotions too. They re made the older models thanks in large part to people like Eugene.

    Two observations:
    1. If you stained both towels at the same time, the 2nd would have had additional 2hr (or however long it took to complete your wash) for stain to set in. The 2nd set was the 2017 so still surprising results.
    2. I think possibly more of a factor is the amount of water the machine uses. The less water in this scenario appears to be what caused the results. For two reasons i can see. Less water created more interaction of the material themselves and the detergent pod would be more concentrated in less water.

FYI Speed Queen FL washers *do not* contain internal water heaters. These completely reply on the houses hot water heater, which will *NEVER* be able to supply 120 F wash water because of the typical distance from the washer. This corner cutting essentially ensures every wash you do will be lukewarm at best. I will never buy from a brand that cuts corners like that.

Well, I have to wash my clothes at the shared laundry room of my mobile home park and the management got new washers/dryers last year , and they are Speed Queen /commercial use.
I hate the washers ! And that is an understatement. First of all, there are settings for normal, and normal but energy saving. Though we all use the normal/normal settings, the washers treat it as though it is the energy savings......less water /shorter cycles, perhaps (?) And the spin dry cycle leaves the clothes so wrinkled........OMG ...I can't think of a word to even describe what the clothes look and feel like after the spin cycle......but the last complaint I will mention, I think has something to do with why they are actually TOO dry.. And that complaint is: there is no true rinse cycle ...........instead, what happens is, after the wash cycle, it drains the tub, then goes into it's version of "rinse cycle" which is really just water spritzing onto clothes , smashed up against the circumference of bottom of washer tub . In other words, the "rinse" never fills the tub at all.
So how does the soap and dirty water get removed properly ??? Good question, and I would love an answer for that.
I can't complain to whoever sold them as they are not mine............I am merely stuck using them. I found out about the lack of rinsing when I attempted to use my liquid fabric softener.
There is no phase of machine that allows for that.

We are in the process of trying to return it now because it performs so miserably. We're having to handwash stuff before or after every single load, and it's simple non-oily food crumbs or outdoor soil from toddlers doing their thing. How do you able to get that washer running even though the lid is open?

I think because the old one used less water the pod effectiveness is more. Although the old has a different agitator design which seems to swirl water better? I don't know.... I feel an LG impeller top loader or front loader would've washed it well.

Would it have hurt to use a little bit of bleach on the whites?

YES !!, just picked up the last 2017 Speed Queen (top load) my local store had left. The GE washer (that had amazing reviews) just died completely on me & after only 16 months👎. So happy I was able to find one of these still available.

How is your TV-5 working? Is it loud?

@@MOAB-UT Still runs like a champ. Not any louder than any normal washer (to me anyways.)

YOU need to wash the 2018 towels set till it gets as clean as the 2017 so we can say... it takes 2 (or however many) washes in the 2018 to clean as well as 1 wash in the 2017.

Eugene also has a separate video review of the 'new old' 2019 Speed Queen, maybe the title of this one should be updated to '2018 only'
