I'll never forget the first time I listened to this gem, and it has been one my favourite albums ever since.

When I heard the title track I was driving to work and I stayed in my car until it finished. then I just sat there in awe of another five minutes.

This album definitely is going for a more live feel, especially in the vocals. As you listen to it more, you'll hear occasional flubs and tripping over words, which was fully intentional. This album took a lot of time and money to put together, so the small mistakes are by design to give it a more forthright and raw feeling. If you want more conventional production with more daring compositional choices, check out their album Crack-Up. If this album is like Radiohead's In Rainbows, Crack-Up is like A Moon Shaped Pool. I like both albums equally, and there are only a handful of albums I like more. If you want to explore the more progressive side of contemporary folk music, I would urge you to listen to the album Ys by Joanna Newsom.

You definitely should give a listen to Crack Up, probably their best album (and if not the best, at least the most complex). You're such a charismatic person, would love to see your reactions on certain tracks.

Fleet Foxes are so amazing! And hey! Since Rina Sawayama drop out her second record, you should react to her first one 😄

    Sick microphones reference.
I think Robin’s lyrics throughout this album are all time, it’s like when you’re just in this weird mode and all the galaxies aligned. The ultimates 2000’s teenage/early 20’s angst album

Bedouin Dress is actually about the guilt he feels for borrowing influence from other artists

The way you cut sections out between your reactions KILLS the immersion. I will not be finishing the video. Please reconsider producing your videos this way. I'd rather watch a 1.5 hour long video without hearing you cut through the songs like a paraplegic samurai through a baby seal.
What a bizarre and and unfortunate music reaction trend.

unfortunately youtubers have to do that to avoid getting copyright strikes. they can only play short clips of the song, which is why the uncut reviews are locked to his Patreon. it disappoints me too but it's a TH-cam problem rather than a music critic problem

Oh man, never expected this one! This is definitely a grower. So many great songs on here.

Every album is great. But 'Crack up' just effects me emotionally more than the rest of their discography. It's less folky and the songs are longer.. also took a couple of listens, but once it hooks you it is a great listening experience.

Crack Up is what got me into Fleet Foxes! First album I've heard from them and it's still my favorite. That one's just something else

    • @hatorade1031

Crack up was at first easily my least favorite, but I gave it a few more listens and now I do really enjoy it. It takes a second to grow, but when it does it takes hold.

The Shrine / An Argument used to be my favorite song on this album. Check out some live versions, I think there's one at Monterey Pop that's sick. But yes, this entire album is amazing. This and their first album are peak Fleet Foxes imo, just incredible songwriting and execution.
Edit: th-cam.com/video/8Xi6prGW7e0/w-d-xo.html here it is. It's actually Haldern Pop. Around the 44:00 mark

You have to react to Daniel Rossen's album "You belong there". This is one of the highlights of 2022.

Haven't watched the video yet, but I hope you ended up enjoying this album as much as I do. I'd recommend you to check out their self-titled debut, which is probably my favorite album ever.

    • @DAVECHER
      @DAVECHER  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@DAVECHER Now that I have watched the video, I felt the same as you did when I first listened to this album. It's a grower, but even still it didn't manage to surpass the self-titled, which to me is a more focused batch of straight up melodic bangers, if you get what I mean. I'll be waiting to see your reaction to songs such as Blue Ridge Mountains and Oliver James!

It's a great album but don't think they'll ever exceed their debut, which is one of my favorite albums of the 2000s decade. No 10/10 tracks but none are bad (though not a fan of the solo in track 10).
