Fleet Foxes is one of my top 5 favorite bands ever and I love Nardwuar but didn't start getting deep into him until a couple months ago. Knowing that he was from the Pacific NW I figured "damn I bet he has a fleet foxes interview". I saw father John Misty on their first tour in 2012. Tickets sold out and I went and found josh behind the venue. He put me and my brother on the guest list and we got in for free. he was hands down the most humble musician I have ever met
Omg Josh is hilarious, in interviews AND between songs. He kept saying how he'd love to do a drum solo but needed everyone to stfu hahahaha And how he was admiring the guitarist's ass.
I dig how they're kind of just enduring this strange guy at first, then out of nowhere he starts throwing down all this hardcore poigniant information about Robin's dad and stuff. You can see him soften up and start tripping out on how well this guy knows his stuff. Bonus points for the mention of the Evens.
Man this guy really does his research, he does the same with every other band aswell!! I love the Mars Volat interview aswell. DAMN NARDWAR! FLEET FOXES FTW!!!
@@Joshreece they didn’t part ways on the greatest of terms. Josh was apparently itching to get out on his own earlier than he was contractually allowed to and because of that was deliberately difficult during his remaining time with the band. Definitely not the smoothest exit
Sounds like it was Josh's fault completely. Became a total jerk and fleet foxes has just outclassed him musically since. Not that FJM is bad or anything
Great video, great band. the best band to come around in a LONG time. certainly the best debut. their album has sold over 220,000 in the U.S alone, and another 200,000 in Europe. that's an amazing effort for a new band that's had to rely on nothing but word of mouth. Sup-Pop's biggest success story in nearly 2 decades. just proves that some people out there are looking for quality music, without the bullshit image to go with it. they also turned down an offer from Virgin Records.
Wow this is the first sign I've ever seen that Robin DOESN'T know something about music- and it's Moog (the man/synthesizer/company), which really only makes sense since his compositions are so baroque.
Well, they seem to be doing a good job, as many people like them! Including me:) In fact they are one of the best i've ever discovered. But if one is into real shows and stuff that's going around, then they're probably not the best choice. I like their style and the minimalistic setting. After all it's to me about the music and partly the guys that make it...which are both present on the stage. So, no problem there:)
"the word fleet is in our band name, too"
"You're in the band fleet..."
"Fo"
"Hmm, he does raise a good point."
8 mins in and he says "You know a lot about music. I'm starting to catch on" hahaha
"i also sit in a chair...well it's a stool"

Lol that Charlie Manson comment was so awkward and funny.
+Neesha Cooray can you explain what it means?? i have no clue what he meant by that
he meant that, because charles manson also rocked the long hair / long beard look like they do, that he would be into their music
marv lajara Charles Manson also has a connection to the Beach Boys (if I recall) and they're one of the Robin's bigger influences.
@Alex Nelms watches nardwuar once

I lost my shit when Josh tried to mime what Nardwuar was saying
"You can't just say stuff" Made me laugh, and think
Yo Nardwuar, do Father John Misty sometime!
it's time
I’ll do father John misty...;)
He’s standing right there
Where’s that FJM at Nard
I concur! doot doo
Imagine having this man as your enemy
man i need a redo with robin pecknold, hes so different now
You think so? Are you referring to his appearance?
@@matthewfateful his personality overall, seems to be more open to interviews and less introverted
I love when Nardwuar surprises people with things they didn't expect or know about.

The fact that this was made before Helplessness Blues is fucking wild.
robin and josh have the same voice.
only when singing high

"You can't just say stuff. I'm realizing that now."
Awesome interview, wow.
I love Robin's lisp. It's really cute!
Josh Tillman has more than earned the right to be pretentious.
If it’s earned then by definition, it’s not pretentious.
This guy Nardwuar makes me nervous.
He's just really amped up to do the interview!
i felt nervous too- funny! amped up for sure!
um can Josh speak too?
@@The95alvarojose We all love him too

Nardwuar has been around for years, i cant believe how seemingly invested he becomes with each target artist personally.

Son John Misty.
Whoa he mentioned MySpace lol
Fleet faxes
narduar honestly probably already has an eye on everyone in the comment section....
actually now my theory is that narduar is evidence of simulation theory
Nardwuar is probably the most professional interviewer ever!
Jesus Christ,
this guy is an amazing interviewer.
Except that he moves at such an intense pace that the Foxes can't keep up!
Devin O'Toole this was 2009, so don't expect any Father John Misty questions.
i wish these two would put their differences behind them
could you explain what you mean? I didn't know there was bad blood. I just thought Josh went on to do his own thing.

Joe Smathenburg that's a gross understatement.
most entertaining interview so far..

Josh Homme: I'm the guy who's not wearing what you're wearing.

according to your myspace page
I don't know. If nardwuar could interview himself, I'm sure he would ask himself that question, but then he might be stuck for an answer.
