Revocation and Trivum both inspired me to save up and buy my first ever 7 string. Dave’s videos also inspired me to study music theory more and take inspiration from other genres of music besides metal to incorporate. He’s a criminally underrated shredder and makes me proud to see him repping Boston

I met David Davidson after Revocation played in Brixton Academy recently. He really was the most humble, sweet man ever. I'm a huge fan, so was a real surprise to find he's so down to earth.
Been on such a Revocation spree the last 2 weeks, putting money aside to get that Dunable Eidolon pedal Dave's helped make.
Not only is this the perfect upload in my feed, Dave's even wearing my favourite album of all time on his shirt.
Yeah, i was thinking back and forth for a few months and ordered it this monday. Should arrive tomorrow. Will probably make my pedalboard live a lot easier. Don't know why nobody had this idea before, boost, reverb and delay in one box.

I did the guitarsound for spawn of possessions first album. The reason Karlsson got your rig is because of them using my rig for the cabinet session. Makes me proud to hear you talk about them. Great band!

Revocation's EP Teratogenesis published through Scion AV was my first foray into more extreme metal. For that, they are pretty special to me. Helps that they've put out some great albums since then. Thanks for writing some sick music Dave!
Oh man you gotta check out their old stuff too. Existence is futile goated. Chaos of Forms too.
Terato was the start of a great shift in their sound, and I think it's the release that finally kicked them off as somewhat established.

@@jamesbryant8087 me too! I had to (ahem) SING a track on our disk, because our singer couldn't "relate" it's not what ya might call a "Metal" song, (although there ARE elements of that in there!) But I got "pushed into singing it..coz...well I was there! And couldn't convey to him what it needed...so....

@@vincentrandles8105 back in 2013 when the band I'm currently playing in first started jamming with our drummer, we auditioned about six people to do vocals, two of them didn't even bother to show up, I remember the one day a vocalist was supposed to come try out didn't show, I lost my mind. Literally just told everyone in the room "if no one's going to commit to doing vocals, I'll do them myself!", thus beginning my journey into vocals.
Try to take over Dave's flexible strong mindset in my own musical career and other aspects of life. He's the best role model I could wish for..
Ola also deserves a lot of respect from me btw.

Revocation being the special guests on the Killswitch Engage tour was the best surprise of 2019. One of the greatest bands!
One of my all time favorite guitarists wearing my all time favorite band's shirt, while in a video on the absolute best TH-cam channel? You can't imagine the smile on my face when I saw this pop up. Dave's skill, soulful playing, and vast knowledge of music and theory always inspires and pushes me to do my best and practice harder all the time. And you Ola, you also always inspire me with your relentless work ethic and drive to succeed and be the best you can. Cheers, and keep doing what you do best!

I love that he mentioned Martyr. I met Dan at a Martyr show years ago. They were one of the best metal bands live.
Agreed, only saw them once but Dan stood out as having a rare stage persona, particularly in technical bands. He was definitely right choice for Voivod. Would be a good candidate for Coffee with, or Ola Checks out (Martyr or Voivod).

Dan came out and met me before a Voivod show last September. He was the nicest guy in the world and he talked about his growth as a guitarist. He even signed my Warp Zone Record. Best experience of my life at that concert.
@@Scrimbo420Amacing! Yeah he was a cool dude. First time they came to Halifax, there was a story about meeting him and Martyr was playing. No one knew who he was. Someone asked if they were good and Dan apparently said "I heard they suck!" Then Martyr blows all their minds with how good they are.
Dan is a super cool guy, met him a few times, as I'm a huge Voivod fan. Just saw Revocation AND Voivod in Toronto.
I still remember when I first listened to Revocation (it was Dismantle the Dictator and it was a suggested video next to Anticosmic Overload) and it was such a fresh new sound. It just blew my mind!
It's unbelievable how dedicated and focused Dave Davidson is. He playing live makes things look so simple..

Solid interview with one of my favorite guitarists. I've fortunately had an opportunity to hang out with the Revocation dudes after a show and Dave is just as genuine to random show-goers as he is here with Ola. Just be ready to kill a bottle of tequila with them if you get that chance as well, lol.
I met Dave in London in Dec 18. Such a lad, and a fantastic guitar player!

Dave Davidson is a fucking genious ; the last Revocation album "The Outter Ones" is a fucking death metal masterpiece and probably the best 2018 death metal album with Diluvium of Obscura. This album will make is own legacy in the future because it was an instant classic for me. So many influences in Dave's way of playing and composing : from Death to Morbid Angel but also a Dissection (or black/death melodic metal) vibes, an old In Flames/The Jester Race touch and an Iron Maiden style on the solos. Also Dave look like he's really down to earth and humble and cool guy. Cheers from France Dave and thank you for all you work, you are amazing !
This "how can you sing and play the same time" - thingy really is kinda difficult. But it is nothing you are not able to learn.
I started to sing along every time I played a song. Over time it became better and better, and now I am able to sing all the harmony lines. So it is something everybody is able to learn it.
Last time our singer was notable to come to bandpractise because of his daytime job. He asked me to sing instead "because you get better all the time."
have you never listened to revocation??
Same here, in my band I always sang minor background vocals for years which helped ease me into it. Then when our vocalist left and we couldn't find anyone I just stepped up and after a bit it was easier. As with anything it's just lots of practice.
That’s awesome, and I agree it’s hard. But to try and play Revocation’s riffs while singing-that’s another story altogether.
@@carbajal8283 Pretty much anyone else's songs are impossible to sing and play at the same time LOL, whether its Death or Lamb of God, but for some reason my own songs are much easier. I think being the person writing the stuff makes it a little easier XD

Yeah, but I let Ola know while Dave was touring with Killswitch Engage in Europe. They hit Stockholm on 30rd of October and thought it'd be a nice occasion for that.

I’ve met Dave, he is good dude and is mind boggling brilliant on the guitar. He also has great vocals. Revocation puts on a killer live show. They don’t just post up in one spot and play their instruments. They sound great, have a lot of energy , and great stage presence.

I was at the Oakland, CA date for that 2012 tour, I remember SFU opening with the CC covers and I was pretty happy cause after that I was able to go talk with Revo's ex drummer Phil Dubois, good times!!
Discovered and met Revocation 10 years ago yesterday on the Metal As Art tour with Hypno5e and Binary Code. Played to a room of maybe 30 people and blew my fucking mind. so happy to see these guys build the audience and recognition they deserve.

I love the gargoyl ep. idk if id be able to give it any other label than “written by dave Davidson”. If id never heard it and someone asked me who played guitar on it dave would automatically be my first guess. Especially that first guitar riff is SO dave if anything id say “is this revocation” lol. Dave just has a badass unmistakable sound! I love to see him branching out doing different stuff!
