One of the reasons I love Devin so much, he's really developed a pretty beautiful outlook on life, and it's been an interesting journey to see him arrive where he is now as a person!

The personality of a guy who's really had to work for his success and doesn't take anything for granted. For such an immensely talented guy he is very grounded. Also conforming to the stereotype that Canadians are absurdly nice people.
I love how putting a guitar in Devin's hands was like a security blanket, and he opened up immensely afterwards.

It’s impressive just how much Devin has changed physically over the past ten years. Dude looks like he’s put on some mass and is taking care of himself. Don’t get me wrong, I love Strapping Young Lad, but not at the expense of his health.
SYL was horrible for Devin's mental health. As much as I miss SYL I'm glad Devin is in a better place mentally because the devin Townsend project is incredible.

This is just one of several reasons I admire this man. To say nothing about this man's seemingly infinite talent. His kind hearted and generous nature. His uplifting and positive message. His humor. The fact he doesn't take himself too seriously and just wants to have fun with his fans. He could easily be a cocky, arrogant bastard and be justified in it based on his accomplishments alone. But he isn't. He's the most humble man I've ever seen. A man unaware of just how talented he really is and how much what he does means to all of us as fans who follow his career with avid anticipation. The fact he's willing to invest so much of his own money into his work speaks volumes. And it's why I will forever support this man. We love you, Devy. I could listen to Devin talk for days. Such a fascinating mind. 🤟🏻😁 #DevinIsGawd
I saw a video that he describes how he met Chad from Nickelback and how Chad taugh him how their writing and producing at Nickelback works and how they basicly "prints money". But the commentary Devy did about it was amazing for me. He said that even though it would be amazing to make shit loads of money it wouldn't be true to him. It would be meaningless, although he said that he trully admires Chad for what they accomplished with Nickelback. And that was one of the most amazing things for me about Devin Townsend.
I agree except for one thing. He is aware of how good he is and I think he chooses to be more humble because he sees how crazy and arrogant people can become. He thinks to himself....nah I am too good for that crap. All it does is slow things down and mess things up anyways, which he knows.. That being well known, alot of people take it way over the edge anyway. Alot of confidence is what you need. Not arrogance.

Devin is THE PERFECT interviewee. He'll talk. He'll 'save' the conversation.
Geffrey van der Bos he is one of the few musicians who isn’t treating the interview like marketing. He’s very honest and more importantly, his fans like that honesty. Think of his contemporaries - there is some Really Really dark stuff under the hood and they are expected to be superheroes.
Interestingly enough, my favourite Devin stuff was done 25 years ago. I want super Dev.
Dude. Devin Townsend’s mind is incredible. He’s insanely self-aware! I could seriously have listened to him speak for another two hours.
Two of my favorite people in the music world right here interviewing each other. Such a legendary talk between two of the smartest most down to earth people. Hellyeah getchapull.

That interaction with Devin did not feel it was an hour long! And Ola being an awesome host allowed Devin to take the wheel of the conversation allowing Devin's mind to roam free making this one of the best interviews I have seen so far.
This video is not just an interview. It is two human beings talking about life, existence, and music. Wholesome. Educational. Inspiring. Humbling. Thank you Ola for doing this with Devin. You both are breathtaking.

There's a great "humaness" about Devin. What makes him stand out is beyond how very talented he is,he doesn't come off as full of himself and very normal with flaws like everyone else. His singing is phenomenal as is his guitar playing. I have always been a huge fan of Ocean Machine and so many years later Empath strikes a similar chord. Having met him a few times he is the most down to earth really nice guy as was DTP.
I just love how with Devy you never know where and how the interview or whatever will end up haha. Easily the best Coffee With Ola yet.

I hardly ever make a comment on TH-cam but this was by far the best music interview that I've ever seen and I watched a lot of them. it was amazing to see an interview with Devin be so genuine and give up some really cool information about his Psyche on when he creates music. it gives me a whole new appreciation for him as a musician.. Watching this again. I watched this when it originally aired and it has had such a ripple effect in my psyche. Devin is so layered; he is like slowly pealing an onion. Devin is one of the greatest musicians alive today. Awesome that you got to sit down and talk with him one on one.
I don't have any market data, but I think having tons of models with Evertune really helped Solar sell guitars. When I was shopping for an Evertune guitar I really only had 3 choices: 1) a noname cheapo guitar with questionable quality on amazon 2) one Epiphone model only in LP shape 3) any of the Solar ones with Evertune. So here I am, almost 2 years later, with my Solar A1.6ETC. I definitely made the right choice.
I bought the LTD LP with Evertune... and didn't like it. I quickly bought an A1.6RD and the LTD has sat in it's case ever since.
Wow, I don't listen much to Devin's music, but the man himself is so fascinating. Great interview Ola! You asked just enough to get Devin to go off on his tangents and that was very entertaining. You guys are both awesome assets to the guitar community!

All you need to know on how Devin treats his fans: I visited LOTS of concerts, but Devin so far is the only who shaked my hand from the stage after show. Best attitude ever.

the least surprising thing I learned from this video is that devin townsend loves all genres of music and yet is highly discerning about quality. i think this is true of every musician i like or respect.
This is by far my favorite interview that you have ever done. I love how off-the-cuff it was with the going back and forth. Devin is so smart. He has a way of explaining and dissecting things that I can listen to all day.

I agree on each single word that came out of Devin and him, Guthrie and Steve Vai are the 3 people on this planet earth who I could talk to forever because their way of talking is beautifully philosophical and simply honest! Okay, I watched it! A whole hour o' Devin rambling about things and losing track of what the original topic was. This truly is a gift! Also, I remember when Lucky Animals came out and a bunch of people sent in little videos of them dancing in their fursuits- seeing him here a few years later saying 'here's a brush!' is so validating lol. Devin is one of my favourite humans for sure
