I even talked to Dave a couple times back then. They're finally gaining traction and popularity and it's fucking great to see
Oh holy fuck the riff from "Of Unworldly Origin" is so ruthless! I had actually learned to play a handful of Revocation songs from the 2nd and 3rd album. Never quite as good as Dave himself but still pretty passable performances. I picked up the songbook for the new album, and the exact riff you guys struggled with fucking destroyed me lol. I lost my mind a little bit! It was kinda relieving to know it wasn't just me having a hard time.
Gahhhh that was so good. I get like a million times more out of seeing players like you finding the material difficult than if you just nailed it first time. Thanks for keeping it real guys
Revocation is one band that really sticks with me, the last 10 years I have been going back to them so frequently, I'm hoping to get a set of his pickups.
Absolutely agreed! I have the Imperium 7 in the Bridge of my Jackson, and it sounds REALLY good. The definition it adds to chords is really nice, and it assists the clarity of low notes as well. They also clean up really nicely. The only thing I will point out is that you have to push the pickups a bit harder than most (for really chunky chugs anyway), since they're lower output.
They're awesome pickups. I have one of his sigs and an imperium in another 7. Very thick and chunky, but still clear. Definitely one of the best dimarzio offerings in a long time besides the fortitude.
Revocation is one of my favorite bands, so I was pumped to see this. Dave has been a massive influence on me, I can't play 1/10th as good as him, but he's super creative and his excellent writing helps to set him apart. This was a great one to watch, loved the cameo from the crow. He just wanted to lay down some vocals over the Daveman Caveman riff!
That number four riff man. Damn. That's a thing. The speed and sheer amount of notes in each bar plus the accents. Woofy dog. My hands hurt from watching you guys try it. Nice job though. That's pretty impressive for spending so little time on it. Relatively speaking.

Specifically level 4... that was such a bummer of a riff for me. I had just finished "learning" the Great Is Our Sin album and finally decided to move on to Outer Ones. The intro of this song was amazing (Tremolo picking madness!!) then the level 4 riff started. I read it a few times, went through it a few times, then proceeded to unplug my guitar and put it on the rack, not to look at it again for maybe 2 weeks. Thankfully the rest of the record was MUCH easier than that riff (for the most part... looking at you Nihilo.)
Likely not happening, especially with Keene's history of being a douchebag (and also doing something more sinister, like basically stealing money from a fan).
I love Dave Davidson I also have his signature pickup and it’s really an interesting pickup it lets the wood speak cause in some guitars it wasn’t great and in some it was so sick. Only pickup I haven’t sold off 😎
