Brazil is a very big country and it's easy to guess somewhere that's far away from the true location. Most of the Google Streetview coverage is in the east side of the country, and the phone number area codes start with smaller numbers in the south and bigger numbers as you move north. So click somewhere toward the east side of the country, and if you see a phone number, you can get close with the latitude.
Another few I can think of: - cars with the red and white reflector tape on the side is usually Peru - Colombia taxis and trucks have the license plates printed on the side of the car - very common to find a (usually) green payphone booth that look like a helmet on a stick in Brazil
The red and white thing still has a fair chance of being Ecuador, and don't know if any other countries. The side plates also happen in two other latin american countries I think but I don't remember which
5:08 Ecuador also has these orange-redish plates on taxis, sometimes even with this kind of car paint. But mostly their taxis are dirty yellow like Colombia. At some places their TAXI sign on the top of the car looks like an italian flag (green-white-red). 7:25 Uruguay signs: the backside is much more distinctive, the square poles have 3+ square holes, very unique. And it's mostly white pole. My extra tips: 1) search for Latin American electric meter boxes (meta practice) in GeoGuessr. That's my map highlighting some interesting details in electric boxes. Uruguay and Peru have some very distinctive ones, I almost never went wrong with these. Argentina, Bolivia and MX also have some fairly useful clues in electric box appearance. 2) Portugese: Ç and Ã, Spanish: Ñ (this is distinctive, portugese doesn't have Ñ and spanish doesn't have Ç and Ã) 3) Brazil has RED plates on taxis and commercial vehicles. Mostly red background with white numbers, but sometimes vice-versa. Ecuador has similar colors on some taxis but it's not actually red, it's reddish-orange with black numbers. 4) Brazil has a VERY distinctive graffity/tag typography for some obscure reason. Almost any location of any bigger city will have these tags, they have VERY pointy characters. Never seen that outside of BR, it's a dead giveaway. 5) Bolivian plates are greyish or blue text on white. The blue is pretty visible if you know what to look for.
Your Brazil location was some 2000 km away. Some important fact you missed at that location at 4:50 were the ARAUCARIA PINE TREES... typical of southern Brazil.
Thanks! Great video again. In Colombia it's great that taxis and commercial vehicles have number plates on the side and the roof that are often unblurred and even show you the city/district. And in Latin America beer brands are helpful (Paceña in Bolivia, Gallo in Guatemala, Corona in Mexico...).
Argentina 1:38 and 6:45 Chile 4:58 brazil 4:21 and “ão” at the end of a word it’s Portuguese and so would have to be Brazil. Yellow solid line and dashed line Peru 3:51 Bolivia 6:09 Uruguay 6:45 Colombia 0:33 and 2:17
Two more things I can think of: There are two Colombian islands east of Nicaragua that have very notable car meta, and there's a type of road surface - hexagonal concrete pavement - that's typical for Ecuador and Bolivia.
something about that taxi: because it says "CDMX" on the side, one could conclude that it stands for "Ciudad Mexico", or mexico city, even if you were not aware that that specific taxi was only found there
3:44 the big blue blue semi truck (aka bonnet truck) is an indicator of mexico as well, in south america you don't get those very often, most of the semi trucks around here (Brazil for example) are "flat front" semi trucks (aka cab over trucks). Bonnet semis like the blue one over there are way too common in USA and Mexico, and Guatemala too.
Thanks a lot for this video! I was going to ask you for these regional based tips, but I'm glad others came before me. Also really need a video like this for asia and eastern europe. 🙏
If you find a white car plate with a blue stripe at the top, this indicates that you are in Mercosur (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay). The plate also have the name and the flag of the country, but as it's blured you may not be able to see. The standard plate has been slowly implemented in those countries in the last years and will very soon be the only model
Good idea! Would love an eastern/south east europe video since there are so many pretto similar countries in the area Edit: Also some locations in Argentina has only white roadlines such as Chile does, this tends to be countryside roads however
i love guessing based on brick color in south america, especially helpful for ecuador where there arent any meta clues but bricks are always greay. theres a great overview in the #geoguessr-resources channel on the discord
Absolutely great video! You have helped me so much, and you are imo the best explaining youtuber. Keeping it concise, but extensive at the same time. Would absolutely love this type of video on Europe and specifically Eastern Europe.
Great video! Another Chile tip: the most common type of chilean street signs are fairly easy to recognize, a black rectangle, often with a white outline, it's on the right at 5:11 . It's pretty much in every mayor city and large town and you don't get it in any other country
very helpful for a lot of the latin america rounds that I encounter, quick and easy to the point man, continue your youtube grind and thanks as always!
Little idea for you, you could make maps specifically made for each of your tips videos, that include things that you talk about in your video that could help to find out where you are, it would be like some kind of a training, to help people better remember your tips, would love to see that (Sorry if this sentence doesn’t make sense, im not native English speaker)
great tips! waiting patiently for a specific small islands tip video. even though you already shown some in this video (which i'm really thankful for) :) keep up the great content.
Mexico uses a standard mix of Brazil and USA styles Argentina uses a unique blue with red border mandatory signs Zebra crossing signs are similar to Sao Paulo warning signs(red triangle)
Very helpful video! Although I don't really like the use of the google car. Would be cool to know the different shop names, different advertisers on billboards, the different kind of vegetation etc...
I get white more than black, but I have gotten a decent amount of black cars in Colombia. It also says there is a balance on the Cameras and Cars spreadsheet (docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SUcuQkmDgVZMqNLe7XuNEhmJulonpnSQuSiJAOqfhtY/edit#gid=1975001994)
Man, I’m discovering new locations even now. I played A diverse world 100 times and last week I got The Dominican Republic for the first time, and I didn’t know that they have street view. I got the US Virgin Islands and caracao before that
It first surprised me to hear South America included in Latin America as I used to think it referred to Central America. But then you made a sentence which implied even Central America is not part of Latin America and Im pretty sure it is! Maybe it would be better to avoid the term Latin America as it is unclear where Central and South America are very clear. Thanks for the video!
How about for the next time you do something similar to this, you don't pick the places yourself and instead play a map like South America or whatever the video is about. I know that could be harder to get good tips on and I have nothing wrong with this way either. Either way, amazing and helpful video, I needed help with South America especially!
More tip videos are coming for sure! :) But they will mostly be the tips I have already covered in my other tip videos, just grouped based on the location.
You were mixing up terms, Latin America is most of the countries from Mexico to Argentina and Chile and a a few islands on the Caribe sea, is more a cultural and linguistic region than geographic. On the other hand Central and South America are geographical zones.
the worse is when you have no line, no sign, no car, no bollard and a desert like area, I always struggle to find it, either chile peru bolivia and sometime if we dont see the black car, Argentina, is there a small subtlety to help identify the terrain?
is it like a skill you have ore do you just learn alot of tips and tricks. ore is it a combination of both? And may I ask another question wich country are you from?
You need to learn some liscence plates and stuff but you can also recognise the countries from the trees and landscape and if you just play the game and pay attention to the languages, bollards and stuff you will learn
Definitely some great tips. Nicely done. I feel like I have South America *mostly* nailed down but Ecuador/Colombia/ Guatemala can trip you up if you’re not paying really close attention.
@Zane Rickert This actually came in really useful in a round I did just now. I was up in the mountains with just a bus which had the orange plate. Appreciate the heads up!
In Europe I find the languages really helpful and he also has a video on it. Also there is some licence plate tricks. Like if you see a lot of Æ it is probably Denmark and other things

@@lucam9302 Yeah, it was an amazing experience! I have a video of my perspective as well if you are interested 🙂
Another tip I use is that if you ever see “ão” at the end of a word it’s Portuguese and so would have to be Brazil
That's a good tip to distinguish the languages for sure. ^^
also a ç only appears in portuguese so if you see ç then you know it's brazil too
I find the easiest Portuguese word to see is "e" which is "and". In Spanish, "y" is "and" in Catalan "i" is "and".
@@pwndnoob4937 I didn't know that, thanks
