  • In this video I will go over the staining and sealing of a butcher block which I used for my home office desk.
All the supplies for the butcher block can be found at Home Depot. The base of the desk was repurposed from my old desk. The two Alex drawers were purchased from IKEA.

The only part i wanted to see you didnt show was sealing it lol. Do you sand between coats or what when sealing it?

Hi, thank you for the question. I applied three coats of polyurethane with light sanding in between. No sanding after the last coat.

at 5:50 it looks like the top took no stain at all or is that just the lighting or something? Guess so because later in the vid it looked right lol

You are correct, the lighting can impact how it looks. It was a very sunny day. The end of the video shows the look under normal light and following the application of the polyurethane coating. Since I made the video, the look hasn’t really changed, and I am very happy with the outcome.
