Thank you for the time and work. Its a shame these two companies don't put in the same time or effort. Thanks again!!
Thank you for posting Minwax on birch. Like you I couldn't find a side-by-side comparison. Well done!
Love your desk man! Great color 🔥
Thanks, you saved me a lot of time deciding which color to use.
Thanks for doing this. Stains are so weird sometimes. As you can see from this video, the example color on the can seems to have very little to do with the result you actually get.
Thank you So So Much! Really needed this! ❤
Thank you for the color comparison! This was helpful.
thank you. These look amazing!
I am here a year later and this comparison is the so helpful!! Thank you!!
Thank you for this!
Companies need to put wood cubes that are stained next to the stain or something
Extremely Helpful!
Im glad! wish I had this video before staining my desk
Colonial Maple from Minwax is a beautiful stain as well.
Thank you, very informative , simple and easy to understand.
FINALLY! THANK YOU FOR THIS👌🏼
Thank you SO much for this video
You are so very welcome, thought it would be useful since I was looking for a video like this before I made my desk.
Thank you SO much for this video!!
Your Very welcome Jessica! I knew it would be useful!
Thank you honey is what I needed
Could you do a video highlighting the finished color of your desk?

Well I’m definitely not spilling coffee on my wood 😉
Very nice, I wanted to see the difference between varathane and minwax red mahogany
Huge help! Appreciate the video man
Thank you thank you thank you!!! Exactly what I needed!!!
I knew this would be useful ;)
Where is the x in espresso?
Your the real mvp 🎉
Thanks for the guidance and tips!
You're very welcome
Great job!
Thank you❤
You're the man
Thank you for this valuable info!
Did you apply a pre-stain conditioner before staining the birch with the sundry stains? If you didn't, this could alter the final stain look for these stains.
I did apply a wood conditioner, yes.
Thank you for doing this video!!
I was originally going to use provincial for staining my birch butcher block to use as a desktop, but after seeing this video, the final result is not what I was expecting, because most videos showing provincial are not staining on birch.
Now I'm back to square one trying to decide which stain to use.
The other important thing that I am noticing is that the color on the box of the stain, is not the color on the wood. Originally, I had decided against honey because the color on the box was so dark. However, in your video, the honey is not dark at all but rather a pleasing light color.
@@RT-jp9me Yes but also remember you can deepen/darken the color by applying two or three coats of the stain
@@RT-jp9me Dark Walnut is a really safe bet (matches everything), but I would go with one of the reds if you want your desk to pop
Were is the picture? And awesome video. Very informative! New subsciber on that presentation
You rock for this honestly
Thank you so much! I'm building a tabletop with rubber wood since it's what I got. Will these stains look around the same?
I'm no wood expert but I would say as long as the rubber wood you're using is a very light color, it will be very similar
Hello help me I like so much the color of your desk what colors and gloss or semi gloss. Thanks for the video.
Minwax red mahogany. Two coats of minwax semigloss and one final top coat of arm r seal matte. Check out my desk build video
Hi i have a question when you do 2 finish with the minwax poly then the arm and seal, do it matter if they are satin or gloss? will you have the same result if you choose different minwax poly?
the only result you'll see is the top layer. I did two coats minwax gloss and one coat arm r seal satin on my desk
Very helpful video and great job.
Thank you!
Nothing but the finest mahogany… for my hog ‘n me 👊💥
of course i find this video 2 hours after staining my own desk 😅
Special Thanks for this very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for your effort and the demonstration
Ty 🙂
Help I stained a table and it’s way to dark. Can I put a white wash over the stain?
what stain did you use
Great video
Very helpful. Thank you
Youre very welcome
I like lighter colors, the more natural looking Honey color. Minwax Cherry looks good also (not shown).
I almost went with the Honey Actually, super nice
I'm having trouble picking between the Varathane Honey and Varathane Red Mahogany. Any advice?
Do your own A-B test on spare piece of wood, always different seeing it in person in the room it will be in. Also, you can get a darker color by putting two coats.
@@DavidBlodgett I don't want to spend double to buy both. I guess I'll just go with honey and use two coats.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How much is needed for a table top?
I was able to stain mine which is 30"x72" with one 8oz container
@@DavidBlodgett awesome. Mine is 25x60 so I should be all set with 8 oz
@@whatisiswhatable That should be fine, even with two coats. Let me know how it goes
Yours looks more like the 4th stain from the left
There’s no ‘expresso’.
You are awesome
Much Appreciated :)
To those English grammar. Wtf!! I failed my esl class 20 years ago. I thought we were in a woodworking class. Not an English class!! Here we go again. I will fail both classes.
Pro-vin-shal, not pro-vin-cil
Ja-Co-bee-an, not jacko-bean
Lol
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood
Not to be picky but its Espresso 😂
you mean expresso 😅
ESPRESSO not expresso
Provincheeealll not provinsal
*It's not leviOsa it's levioSA*
WHO cares
literally NO ONE
Grammar police 👮♀️ 😂. Was thinking the same thing though lol
@@ewanhansen9823 Raise the bar, don't lower it
@@ewanhansen9823 Anyone who has the slightest care for the English language. It's a few minutes of work to get it right.
What is a Jaco-bean, anyway? Sounds unappetizing.
SaTin not sah-in.
Can't give a lot of credibility to someone who doesn't know how to pronounce the names of those colors correctly.
