  • I've continued to experiment with doing ambient type music. I wanted to share (or maybe demonstrate) how the transition from hiphop to ambient can be achieved using the same sample on the SP 404 MKII.

    please keep these coming... as a newb and starting with 3.0 it's been painful to learn with older tutorials... until now:) thank you so much for making updated pieces. Now to get some hours on the pads!

      I feel you on that. With the sound generation on the MKII I'm looking to get some more ambience going forward.

    Very excellent technique, you've got a new subscriber.
    Those resonators make for great horror soundscapes.

      Yeah. That Hyper RES I still may have to revisit. I think I may have to understand how to place it in order to make it work.

    The mk2 definitely has a growing ambient scene. Was cool watching you play, subbed👍

    The idea to reverse the chops on bottom rows is interesting! Thanks for the inspiration.

      No prob. I think it works for certain samples and probably not all. It certainly gives you options.

    I use this technique often when resampling drums for house type music. Building out my full pattern and then resampling each sample separately allows me to layer drums after the fact. Game Changer.

      I’ve tried that with my music a few times but haven’t quite mastered it yet. I really want to create some sort of pad background for what I make.

    This is an excellent demo of the powerful nature of the Mark II. I've only had my Mark II a couple of months and I will say your videos have really helped me wrap my feeble head around this device's capabilities. I'm not a beat-maker, but I've been enjoying creating sound collages with the Mark II using a variety of sounds, usually field recordings. I like bringing in a simple sound and process it via the Mark II, then use the Resample button to bake in effects, which I then copy to a new pad and continue processing. I've been way too heavy-handed with the application of effects, but this video (and others of yours) suggest a more subtle approach in manipulation is more what I need. Thank you for your calm demeanor, your excellent content, and your attention to detail.

      Thank you. That means a lot. Since I purchased my Zoom H6 I’ve been really into recording environments myself. I haven’t done anything. With the recordings yet, but I was thinking of putting music behind them.

      Thank you. I love what I do and do so much more than the videos I post. It's about the love of the arts in my opinion. I just share my experience from time to time.

    I find it hilarious that you made a video on this: Last Saturday night was my first time messing with one. Immediately got to making ambient drones while learning the interface 😂

    Great stuff man. As for multiple samples reverse ,put the in mute group, then go with any one of them to pitch screen, hold "remain" to apply to a group and press reverse. Hope I got it right.

    • @spitlogic
      @spitlogic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Putting them in a mute group should do the trick. I should have just put the ones I want to reverse in the mute group first and then add the other samples. Great advice. Thank you!!!!

      @@spitlogic It'd also important to say that even if I knew this trick I am not able to produce beats this sick so creativity definitely beats knowledge in this case :)
