Short Haofa description:
The Tangkhul Hui is a big, very strong, but also very athletic and agile dog breed with average height between 22-26 inch, which is 56-66 cm and weight is typically between 25-32 kg, which is 55-71 pounds. Females are naturally little bit smaller than males.
The Haofa has a practical short to medium long doublecoat, most of the dogs have rather shorter coat, due to the Indians higher temperatures. You can find this breed in solid black color or in black color with various white marking.

I'm from India but this is the first time I have heard of such a dog breed, wonderful roca dog
From what i heard they are rare even in India and most of them live only in Manipur state.

This dog breed isn't that big but excellent in hunting. Their stamina is quite impressive. They are fearless when it comes to hunting/chasing wild animals no matter what the size is.
Bonus- they are loyal.
Let me tell you our story:
My dad used to go for hunt a lot back in 80s, and had 3-4 of this same dog. My elder bro was a little boy back then and loved these dogs. He would play with them and feed them from his hands. Upon seeing this, my mom being a protective and caring mother got really worried for my bro's safety. And so she told my dad to either sell them off or put them down. My dad loved his dogs and ddn't wanna kill them, so he decided to sell them to one of my neighbouring villages (which was about 30-40kms frm my village). 2 days after selling them, they said one of the male dogs returned home crying. The next day the buyer came to my house and took him away and he never returned.
From that day on they never had a dog.
Sad story. It shows how loyal these dogs are.

Haofa originated from Ukhrul- Manipur, India. Specially use for hunting
I had one male when i was about 13 years old..... It was so big,protective and loyal to our family but mostly me.... Sadly he passed away due to a snake bite when he was just 4 years old....
..I've got a new male pup on March this year! Hope he lives long!

This dog is a natural hunter just take the dog to the forest and their instinct for hunting just takes over, I had one took one weekend walked the puppy dog with me to a village 7 miles away while trying to feed the dog that night the puppy wasn't there thought puppy is lost, I returned back home on sunday found the puppy at my house, the puppy walked back 7 miles during the night in the mountains to get home. This was in 2001.

It is known by the name Tangkhul Hui to majority of the people in Manipur but the tangkhuls called it as Haofá.

folklore has it that they came from black bear/sun bear/himalayan bear, with the abundance a bears in the tangkhul territory its very very possible they mate. AND whats a tangkhul man without his HAOFAA.

It's true that this dog doesn't consider size. If it's territorial intrusion or contest for a female, it will fight all day no matter the opponent's size.
Hao= pagan, Fa(fuh)= dog

Also, you have these greedy breeders that put up violent videos of Haofa dogs fighting almost to death. They know Indians like these aggressive breeds.

Please the genuine name is HAOFA ,there is no dog breed by the name “Tangkhul hui “, the name is just given by people who doesn’t really know about this dog breed Haofa.
And it is the indigenous dog of Tangkhul, found in Ukhrul district, Manipur.
Please if you really wanna know more genuine character about it please contact. Again it’s not Tangkhul hui it’s “HAOFA”
