- I checked into the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai for one night to see what the best hotel in India had to offer, this hotel is iconic in India and It certainly lived up to expectations. The room was beautiful, the gym was incredible, the historical hallways made me feel like I had been transported back in time and the staff were of course very pleasant.
Built in the Saracenic Revival style, it opened in 1903 as the Taj Mahal Hotel and has historically often been known simply as "The Taj". The hotel is named after the Taj Mahal, which is located in the city of Agra approximately 1,050 kilometres from Mumbai. It has been considered one of the finest hotels in the East since the time of the British Raj. The hotel was one of the main sites targeted in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

This hotel is mostly for VIP people very big industrialists, businessman. They are not giving one room for 2 people. Many people has advance booking so it's your luck.
you left out the history behind why this hotel was built by tata.
He was denied entry into the other top hotels in mumbai before Indian independence from the British , being non white. He decided to build a hotel which would allow Indians and become the go to hotel in Mumbai.
and the hotel was built wrong, facing the wrong direction! 😢
rumor has it that the hotel architect committed suicide, when he finally visited the hotel after it was built....

Thats how all south Bombay is built. The architecture is all built by British. Now they are renamed by the Indian government. Most of the large buildings in south Bombay.. including the Victoria terminus. Now renamed as CHatra Patni shivaji....blah blahh

Taj was attacked on 26 Nov 2008 and many guests and hotel staff were killed by terrorists. Some staff put their lives at risk in saving guests and died in the process. Security since has been tight and there is a fair bit of awareness of risks that are still out there. To stay at the Taj is a treat and if you went to the pool you will see it has ppl from around the world sunbathing, swimming and just chilling. Enjoy your trip

The Indian visa form is a very complicated form to fill in and if you want to re-visit after the first visit , the Indian government wants all the details on your previous visit including what hotel or places you stayed at , so it is a good idea to keep all that information , also photos etc for the visa application have to be the exact size or your visa will be rejected .
No wonder there aren't many tourists here lol.

Just for the record: I've been to Taj 15+ properties and I'm not TH-camr. But I can confirm that Taj hospitality is the best in the world. Taj may not have fancy stuff like many other hotels chains in India (or the world) but when it comes to classic Luxury and Hospitality they really are far ahead of others. I don't know how they train their staff but they are warm, polite and invisible but present.

Caution: India is place of kings and kingdoms and history. This is may be one of best hotel but not best there r many other palaces that are now hotels.

Beautiful hotel 5 star Harry. I could spend days and nights there with netflix, the joys. I could quite easily rush towards that part of India to soak up that sun, service and friendship of the locals. I am presently soul carer to my wee dog that kind of holds me back from exploring these wonderful parts of the world you travel to. Your filming has given me so many new ideas and travel inspirations that influence my next experiences of this beautiful and free world. JG

Stayed at the Taj many times for business between 2000 and 2012. Mainly in the Tower wing but also in the historic old wing. Actually was there about 10 days prior to the attack of November 2008 and was upgraded to the Old wing as the England cricket team took over a number of rooms in the New wing. Saw Kevin Pietersen and a few others taking advantage of the small pool. I would have an evening drink in the Harbour Bar around the time that the attack commenced at the same location and also saw my room up in flames during the attack. A bit surreal and really felt for all the folk who suffered during the horrific onslaught.
Looks brilliant inside the room and I'm sure the view was excellent 🙂🙂🙂

Hi Harry, Nice video! Just a FYI Taj hotels is an international hotel chain not just domestic with luxury hotels all around the world. You’ll find a Taj everywhere from London to New York.
I have stayed a couple of times in the hotel and it always amazes me, particularly the care taken in details. Security is tight after terror attack, but they always make me feel comfortable.

I recommend you to visit the North East states of India like Meghalaya Assam Manipur Mizoram Tripura and don't forget to search the places you can visit on those States before you visit those days it will help you to find out the proper places you can visit on those srates and those States are absolutely amazing less crowded and it makes you feel you are so close to mother nature
Wow! It's wonderful to atleast see what it looks like from the inside of Taj Palace as a local, I don't know if in my whole life time I did be able to spend a night or experience this luxury hotel. Have only seen it from the outside while at Gateway of India. Given the past history of the place i.e terrorist attack in 2008, I understand the tight security and appreciate it. Ratan Tata is a wonderful and renowned industrialist of India with high morals and etiquettes. You should have actually gone for the buffet because I have heard that they have a wide variety of food served out that a person would be confused what to pick. Thanks for showing us a glimpse of Taj Palace.

@@mviv6339 okay! Personally being from a middle class family I would not, I would rather take a tour package to ladakh or north east. It's an Indian mentality I suppose or maybe I am wrong because when I think in my head, for 15k I would get a good holiday package for any particular tourist destination why go and pay 15k for 1 night. Hope that makes sense!

Yes before the attack they allowed to take pics etc. Try treebow hotels nice clean hotels. U must view rooms n bathroom prior to booking . Especially in Mumbai.

The Taj Hotel chain doesn't really care for TH-camr publicity. You have to understand that Indian tourism and business travel is much bigger than foreign tourism. So they'll give you the service they are supposed to but don't expect anything over the top from them for a TH-camr.
