Thanks for sharing! Something that may work for you with the light letters/design on a darker material is to double up the design in the edit process. Just make sure all the numbers are the same so it’s aligned perrrrfeccttllyyy. The print provider will then print a base design and another one right on top of it. Makes it way more vibrant! Hi Heather, thanks for this helpful video. I reached out to Printify regarding the issue of using white text on black sweatshirt and I thought I'd pass along the info they gave me... "When pure white color is used, the under base is not applied, especially on Gildan 18000 sweatshirt because the fabric is 50/50 poly/cotton. What we can recommend, is that you change the color from pure white, and add a slight color like a hint of gray or a hint of yellow this would give another coat of color. These are the hexes that are highly recommended: #FCFCFC; #FEFEFB and #F5F5F5". --> I have not yet tried this out for myself, but thought I'd pass it along. :-)
Has anyone tried these recommended colors?!
I did actuality try these colors and I think they work fine... the problem is that I've never used pure white so I can't compete compare the difference?

I saw a video about this and she recommended “doubling up” on the design. So basically just add the same text or design on top of it

Hello Heather, I absolutely love your videos straight to the point and filled with great information. I do have a question though When ordering samples I have heard that designs print differently or look differently on 2x 3x shirts I'm actually a big guy and I wear a 5X is it okay to order samples on a 5X? I'm just trying to think of a way to not waste the t-shirt this way I can wear it and show off my designs. I'm assuming the only reason we do a sample is to make sure the coloring is proper. Where would you recommend sticking with getting samples on a smaller size shirt and then I can just give them away?

Hi Heather... where did you get the color groups on Canva? I'm new to Canva ... Love ALL your videos. I've learned so much from you.
Do you have a rule of thumb for the profit margin? Especially on printful... when we decide the pricing I am not sure if I am too inexpensive or too cheap . In the long run, profits would keep the biz going but I don't want to scare people away.
@14:24 I think Heather meant to say $13 (instead of $5) x 5% is about $0.65. $13 being the retail price (the price we sell on Etsy). Easy mistake.
Great video! Canva has since limited many of its free options. For example, when downloading the transparent option is grayed out. Do you have any suggestions without having to purchase the premium version? Thank you.

Question: AT 13:12 in the video you see the shirts that you will sell that are plain jane mockups. I want to use another mockup instead of these so how do I get those colors onto my mockups I got from placeit. Do I just bring them into Printify?

Hi EandCo, I would suggest selling sweatshirts only if prices are that high. I'm not sure if there's a difference but I use Duplium in Canada and they ship to US and charge about 10$ on sweatshirt shipping which US to US shipping is 10$ so the prices are relatively the same. The best suggestion is to sell the sweatshirts for 40$ and do free shipping since you'll get a profit margin of 20$ which is insanely good starting out! Try the Gildan 18000 crewneck, those are my best sellers and super in trend right now!

Do you recommend using the folded T-shirt as the listing thumbnail or the full view of the tee as the thumbnail? Also do you recommend using a person wearing the tee in the thumbnail?
I ordered samples of white and natural of the bc3001 and they are soft but pretty see through, do your customers mind? I feel like the mock-ups don’t accurately show how thin they are.
How do you prevent your entire listing from being reverted back to the printify basic photos and description anytime you want to update your prices?

Whenever I made a design and saved it to my computer it shows part of the design blacked out and part of it in color. Its only when i opne it on my computer . It does not look like that in canva . Does that matter ? I havent tried putting it on a mockup yet.

Hey Heather! Great video! I was curious I noticed you marked your item up $5.65. But your cost was based on the item before shipping ($4.80). So total to ship the item would be $12.44. This only leaves you a profit of .85 after paying Printify, right? Or is shipping included in the "cost" of the item? Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it.
I have the same question! The shipping calculations have been confusing for me.
Also Etsy takes 6.5% from the sales and $0.20 listing fee.
So can I ask. So when people order the shirt. You don’t have to do anything. The shirt place gets the order makes and ships?
how do you change the dimensions from 2500 x 2500 to 2000 x 500?
You can resize in the top left or when you originally go to create the custom template that's when you change the pixels. Hopefully this helps! :)
If I get a domain through Shopify, and the email that comes with it...is that email ONLY for mass-mailing promos to groups of clients? Or can I use that email address separately to sign up for other accts on other sites and to email individuals, ie use it as a regular business email account????
It's up to you how you'd like to use the seperate email. I opened up a business gmail that I sign up for my accounts with and then my dot com email(ex: hello@heatherxstudio.com) I use for emailing clients/email list etc. Just in case the dot com email is ever compromised by an employee, I have my own email as a buffer for issues.

Set up as an LLC. Nobody can sue you outside the realm of your company/business.

how do yo deal with the tax charge? if on printify it says 5$ profit then with the etsy discounts it adds up to 1$ per shirt .

I have previously downloaded 5000 by 5000 pixel Canva designs and when you upload the designs to Printify the file size is too large for Printify. So at 6:00 mark I was just warning to download the file at 2500 by 2500 instead as I lead everyone wrong haha! :)

Can you all give me your honest opinion as to whether selling digital t-shirt mockups will sell on Etsy, Creative Market, etc as opposed to selling t-shirts with designs on them. I am torn between the two. Although I will make more money for one t shirt than I will for one digital t-shirt mockup download, I would love to do the mockups.
I can hardly find any videos on selling digital t-shirt mockups, but plenty on selling digital printables, which is not what I would be doing.
There are a lot of people selling t-shirts with sayings on them, and I know for a fact that most of them are using digital mockups, but I don't know how to find customers.

I live in Europe but most of my customers - 90% are from US so just to clarify - l have to select US provider company right? Well otherwise the shiping will take up to 2-3 weeks and customers won't like wait that long.

to download with a transparent background, you need the Canva pro membership. Maybe Heather has an affiliate link with trial period or something.

Yes this is correct! 2000 by 2000 at minimum but 5000 by 5000 is generally best use now.

hello i am from poland i would like to open a shop on etsy. I have a question is it true that I have to write e-mails to buyers about when the delivery will take place? Do I have to bill the buyers for my goods?
Hi there, with POD you do not have to do that. If you're using a US POD company to US customers then the POD company will send the tracking information to your customer for you. It's a beautiful system!
