Did recent updates make it that you can't change the name of the item with the Media Item Properties Window? I'm trying this in 7.27 and the Media Item Properties window has changed and no longer allows me to rename the item. (Maybe I need to find some setting in Preferences, but I can't find one).
I wanted to display different text at different stages of a video and instead of taking hours to experiment I thought "There must be a video by Kenny about this." And of course there is. Kenny, thanks a bunch. You are great!

It's like a Reaper update for my brain...lol Just wondering, is there a list of available video transitions, like some of the other video editing programs out there? Or do you have to create your own from the video processor plugin presets? I used to use Pinnacle studio way back when and they had a huge pallet of video transitions to choose from. Either way, It's exciting to know that creating cool videos in Reaper is possible. Thanks again!
Kenny and Rick Beato, my instructors for my music hobby. Always amazed at what can be done in Reaper. One question on this subject. How can one create two lines of lyrics one below the other? e.g. lyric line "Un mejor dia vendra", and below it, "(A better day will come)".
Is there a way to use a .srt Caption File and do that automatically? As the srt has timestamps and text it should be possible, or? Can Reaper do this as well?
Hi Kenny (@REAPER Mania), any advice on how to rename MIDI items/takes to make it work with the current version of Reaper. I used to be able to do it, but now in the item properties the ability to rename seems to have disappeared. Is there a workaround or something I'm missing? Thanks
Yeah that for me is the weakness of this at the moment, you can't change the font colour. I wish it had a textbox functionality where you could easily change colour/size/font etc of individual words and have multiple lines of text, and be able to automate it so you could record moving textbox around in real-time..
On the reaper forum, in the video section, there's a modification of the overlay text preset that gives you colored text and/or colored background. It's in the sticky post about video presets. Someone could add a feature for karaoke-style coloring.

Hi! I cant get any of the controls to ''work'' within the plugin. I can get Text on a midi instance.... However, I cannot remove the grey background, i cannot adjust the Y X positions and I cannot change the font. I am on Windows 11
When I do the F2 for Media Item Properties, I get a screen that matches Kenny's as far as Active Take, but the heavier grey box entitled 'Take Properties' does NOT appear - it goes straight to Take pitch shift/time stretch mode. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Just go to insert media file, find Your folder, scroll down to the media type and choose all media instead of displayed and chose all - You will see all media files in the in the folder. Find Yor file and add. After that resize Your file to right lenght. Thats it.
I think all fonts that are available on your pc. Search your system settings. Not sure where exactly since I'm on mobile right now but hopefully I could help :)

Reaper is crazy. It's far beyond what any DAW should be able to do and it does so with a minimal install size.

For some reason, it won't use the take name for the #text variable. Any idea why this might be? It just uses the track name.

Create two tracks, I did it for chords under the lyric track.

Well you can definitely add custom code to read srt, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone already did that!

Your window is not maximized (even though you think it is). Grab the corner and stretch it larger and you will see it.

Most other DAWs include lots of bloated virtual instruments.
How to save text? When change
While position the mouse cursor on the FX window where the code is, press CTRL + S
