  • Yes i did this in 10 minutes. without any editing the raw video was actually less than 10 minutes excluding having the bolt loosened earlier with an impact elsewhere.
In this video I change my passenger side axel on my 94 Acura Integra RS, B18b1 ls transmission, Process is the same for most fwd Hondas.

Not gonna lie. I enjoy how you had every socket size and good angles of the job. I was drunk and forget to lock in my axles. I now I have to replace them because they are striped. This video shows a good method of locking in the axle. That's a step most people don't show. Another benefit is you don't ramble on about your life like most people do. You go straight into the job no bs included.

Hey, Uploader, just wanted to say thanks for taking time to show this. I didn't learn anything, really, but I've been working on my own car for 3.5 years now.
I learn best from hands-on work, then videos, then reading. Haven't ever worked on control arms, suspension and stuff like that, other than moving the parts around to slide my 2004 Optima transmisson out for replacement.
My point is, it's great that you fix your own ride (pride in your ride) and thanks for the video, even if I didn't learn much.

This video is good b/c it's quite obvious what the basics are for replacing the axle. However it also shows quite obviously what one should not do. No jackstands, sandles and sox, not careful about ball joint. So it helps to show to be careful and take your time.

ATG & many pros suggest to drain the Transmission Fluid, replace the CV Axle's Seal, CV Axle and Lower Ball Joint, Cotter Pins, fill the Transmission Fluid.
Then take it for a 4 Wheel Alignments (2w is okay). If those bolts have off-center ones.
Check & pray that the Lower Control Arm & Arm Link are good.
But if they have over 271,000km, then most likely that are defective.

I think I missed something here. Isn't the axle supposed to lock into the transmission with the circular lock ring on the end of the axle spline? It looked like he pulled the axle out of the trans to put into the bearing hub. I thought it was the opposite, lock the axle into the trans and then bring the hub into the other side of the axle!

do you not have to tap the axle into the transmission until you hear a click?

Don't have a cow but I did it the udder way. Disconneted the struts and removed the spindle nut it came right. That the outer end. The inner one is stuck, and so am I. I can't do the solutions I have seen here where I live, so I will have to pay.

There’s an easier way, remove the rear lower control arm pivot bolt it threads in horizontally, leave the front one alone (or vice versa) , as long as you don’t remove the arm bolt that threads upward/vertically, this allows you to swing the entire control arm in an outward/forward, outward/rearward-arc, with the axle nut removed and shocked loose, the outer joint end can drop out, you want the inner to come off first, I keep the nut hand tight on the axle joint and use a pry bar to assure that the inner joint pulls loose, in quickly install a plastic cap that fits the inside the differential seal, (call a transmission shop they’ll have one you can use or know the size they’re nickel & dime minimizing spillage to a half pint -/+. I believe the outer joint clears the fork if you keep it straight, (no joint angle) it’s even faster and a great concept of engineering clue to the purpose of implementing individual parts in a modular component system, they go together easier than today’s LEGO blocks I’ll tell you that much! You need a Masters degree in alternative logistics to master LEGOs !! Lol

Fail! looks like the lower control arm gashed the ball joint boot, when you lowered it
