First, A general would never be in charge of a Naval Operation or ship(s). They would be in charge of ground forces and possibly, if they still exist in a multisystem government, air force but not Naval forces. Second there isn't a lieutenant anywhere in any universe or time that would be the second in command to a general. A Lieutenant is O1, O2 at the highest. A General is O9 or at least near there. If the lieutenant was particularly dumb he would have at most 10 years in the military. He would be discharged past that as unfit for duty. I have listened to many of these stories and have come to find many have writers that are either AI written or the writers don't have any idea about the military, its rank structures, or the qualifications and training that goes into each rank as someone gets promoted into their positions. It flat out ruins a story when they talk about a commander being in charge of the entire Human fleets fighting to defend humanity from the bad aliens. A commander would be in charge of a single ship. A captain MIGHT be put in charge of a division (2-4 ships) but only as part of a larger unit like a squadron and under that squadron commanders orders and guidance. If you want to write Sci-Fi or HFY Military fiction, learn at least basic rank structures and role of the military commands you are going to be using. It isnt complicated and would only take a few hours of basic research.
Maybe, it was the Earth Space Forces Army Air Force? And maybe, they decided: "Let's make a Lieutenant rank 2nd in command, that'll piss off he Air Force to be sure"? Talk about a phenomenal PSYOP!
how many of these stories have the ship's commander leading assault troops into an enemy ship right in the middle of a fleet battle. I can just hear a Marine 1st lieutenant telling the ship's captain with all due respect sir get your ass back on the bridge and leave the assault work to the people who are trained to do it. and the ranks of the ship officers who are leading the battle group always gets most of them are not even captains 04 but Lieutenant 03, who might if he was really good be the xo.

A Commander (O5) in command of a ship starts discovering or investigating something, Gives orders to Admirals,, Made the main Ambassador for Humanity with a galaxy wide civilization, while still in command of a ship, then becomes overall commander of either all of Earths forces or the entire galactic civilizations and earths forces to face a threat. Then right in the middle of the most important battle to decide if Humanity or civilization will survive, said Commander leaves his ship to go pretend like he is an infantry soldier to capture or kill the enemy leader. I have gotten to the point that when the stories start down this road I give up and move on to the next one.

Reinforce any alliances, trade deals, treaties, etc. It is important to have friends. Share intel. Develop contingency plans. Drink lots of coffee.
Ai written, ai narrated, and not checked for actual quality at all. It's constantly refraining and reafiriming the same thing. Between that and the monotone, this would work better as one of those brainwashing videos with a spiral animation, if the story wasn't about smelling it's own farts and loving the smell.
So many things wrong it’s actually impressive. So many it makes you think not even AI could fail so hard. Give the author a foreign sounding name and claim AI translated it and it may feel less fail. “This is strategy, they are hitting all outpost one by one” -laterally the most basic of basic thoughtless strategies, no intelligence needed for that. “No pattern, no logic…. Just ruthless efficiency”. Oh. Ok, even the story is now mocking the story. Well played
